For 70 years, Molly McGee and Scratch the Ghost were the best of friends. Scratch was present for all of her significant life moments – graduation from high school, her wedding to Libby Stein-Torres, and her rising through the ranks of a corporation she joined at 21 to become its CEO, among other things.

Now at 83, Molly was very close to death. Friends and family were gathered at her side for her final moments. She began to speak.

"I've lived the best life I could imagine, but what comes next is more exciting than anything I've ever done as a living person. Scratch has been my best friend for 70 years, and pretty soon I'm going to be one of his kind."

Libby said, "I'm going to miss you terribly Molly, but at same time, I hope to join you and Scratch on the other side. You have been the sunshine of my life ever since we were in middle school."

Darryl, Molly's younger brother had some words to say too. "When you're in the ghost world, say hi to mom and dad for me."

Molly said, "I will little bro, I will."

Numerous descendants of Molly bid their farewells as well.

Before she knew it, her eyes closed for good, and her spirit, manifesting itself as her 13-year-old form, had left her body.

The now-ghost Molly said, "Scratch, I'm finally like you! Oh this is so exciting!"

Scratch said, "well Molly, you've got a lot to learn now that you're one of us. Thanks to you, I learned to be more ferocious as a ghost towards our enemies. Now I get to teach you."

Molly said, "I can't wait to start scaring people!"

So, there we have it, the next chapter in the friendship of Scratch and Molly McGee had just begun.
