Edward's and my relationship is going great. On Saturday, I took him to my meadow and showed him what I really am, even scaring him. I told him everything that's happened since he came in my POV. Then, I carried him to the car with him on my back using my super-speed. When we arrived, he kissed me before I drove him. I explained my story to him, as well as my family's.
"I'm always safe, aren't I, auntie?" I asked, walking to the stairs. But as I was about to put my foot on the first step, I tripped. I fell down the stairs. I tried to stop myself, but I couldn't. I could hear many bones break, and smell the blood. I went totally limp when my spine broke, unable to feel any pain from my neck down. When I reached the bottom of the stairs, I felt my aunt shaking me. I watched her stand up and call 911. I saw my mom stare at me, her eyes wide, before passing out.I blacked out. When I woke up, I knew I was in a hospital. I tried to sit up, but I couldn't. Oh, that's right, my spine is broken. I didn't even bother opening my eyes."Where are her parents?" I heard a man ask. He had a golden, musical voice."Her mom had a heart attack after she fell down the stairs, and her dad got into a car crash on his way here."My parents are dead? As in, I'm an orphan?"Her aunt brought her here after she fell down the stairs.""The poor girl….five broken ribs, a lot of blood lost, cracks in her skull, broken spine. She'll never walk or move again."What? Why can't you just kill me now?I felt someone's eyes full of pity on me."Could I have a moment to talk with her?" the musical voice asked."Um….okay….."I heard footsteps walk over to me. A chair moved, and someone sat down."Bella, I'm Dr. Cullen, and I'm going to save your life. You might not like it, but I would like a companion. I'm very alone, and a daughter or a companion would be nice. It will hurt very bad, but you can't scream." I felt sharp teeth bite into my soft flesh.Someone picked me up. Dr. Cullen. Just as I felt the flying feel, fire started spreading through my veins, turning them into ash. I started screaming. I could hardly even harness the fact that I was outside, in the cool, crisp air of Seattle, Washington. What was going on?
When we got to Edward's house, I got out of his car and snuck into his window. He came in after dinner, and had a human moment— showering, putting on his night clothes and brushing his teeth—before joining me. We talked for a bit, and he even asked about sex! Well, he couldn't help his curiosity.
For the first time in months, I fell asleep—in his arms. I woke up two hours before him. I ran home, changing my clothes. Then, I went back to his house and fell asleep in his arms.
The next day—today—I met Edward's parents. They saw me sleeping in his arms, and thought it was apportae that they get to meet me. Once I met his family, he met mine. Everyone was ecstatic to meet my mate formally, except for Rose. Jasper stayed away to keep himself in control. He found the music room and played a lullaby for me. Then, after an invitation from Alice to play baseball, I took him home.
I dropped Edward off and ran home. I changed into a baseball uniform—a white, short sleeve crop top that says "Cullen" above the 2 on the front(we all have numbers based on what order we joined the coven; Alice is six because she saw a vision of us, and had Jasper join, so he's seven), black ripped jeans, and black sneakers. Then I drove over to Edward's house in Emmett's jeep.
When I arrived, Mr. Masen greeted me warmly before I whisked Edward away.
Edward seemed surprised by the size of the field. I went to my spot while Esme talked to him.
Then the game began.
But about 30 minutes in, Alice shouted, "Stop!"
I knew what she was seeing—the three nomads she told me about on Friday that were coming. I ran to Edward's side, as did everyone else. We hid him from sight.
I threw my two shields up, protecting all eight of us.
That's when three human blood drinking Vampires came out of the woods. Two males, one female.
My shield detected a self-preservation gift, and a tracking gift. But sadly the tracking gift was Physical, so my shields couldn't help.
Carlisle stepped forwards. "Hello,"
"Hello. My name is Laurent, and these are James and Victoria." The man in front said.
"I'm Carlisle, and this is my wife and mate, Esme, and our adopted kids—Bella, Edward, Jasper, Alice, Emmett and Rosalie."
"We heard a game, and wondered if we could play."
"We were just finishing up. Maybe we could go back to my house and talk."
"House?"
"Yes. We've lived here about two years now. If you come, we can explain."
"We would love to come, but how about after a game?"
"Sure, why not? What's the harm?" Carlisle gave in. He wanted to give us time to escape.
"Good."
Carlisle threw the ball, and Victoria caught it.
"I'm the one with the wicked curveball."
Jasper smirked. "I think we can manage that."
"Emmett, Alice, Bella, Edward get to the truck." Carlisle instructed.
"Come on, darling." I whispered to Edward.
That's when the wind blew in Edward's direction.
"You brought a snack?" James asked.
"Stay away from him," I said in a low, deadly, dangerous voice. I could be damn scary when I want to be.
"But he's human." Laurent pointed out.
"I don't give a fuck." I growled.
"We will not harm the human, and we will gladly accept your invitation." Laurent said.
"Emmett, Alice, Bella, take Edward to the jeep."
"Let's go." I said urgently.
I threw Edward onto my back, and started running through the forest. Alice and Emmett were only a bit behind.
When we reached the jeep, I put Edward down, and he got into the backseat, along with Emmett. I got into the driver's seat, Alice into the passenger seat.
"What's going on?" Edward asked.
"In case no one could tell, James is a tracker, and he wants Edward. My shield can also tell me what Vampire has what gift."
"Why does he want me?"
"Probably because there's so many Vampires protecting one human."
"He was eyeing the situation like it was a challenge." I forget how observable Edward is.
"Yes."
"Where are we going?"
"Away from Forks."
"But what about my parents?" Edward asked, worried. "They need protection! They'll be all over your family if I disappear."
"I need to get you away from Forks and hidden."
"Bella, just listen to my plan, alright?" I sighed and nodded. "You take me home—"
"No." I growled.
"—and I tell my parents that I'm sick of Forks and want to leave. I pack my things, and you can take me any damn place you want."
"It's not a bad idea, really." Emmett said.
"Okay. Then, once you're packed, I'll take you somewhere safe."
"But where?" Emmett asked.
"Chicago. It's so big, we can stay in a hotel, and James won't think we'd be stupid enough to take us home."
"It's a good idea." Emmett agreed.
"Yes. But Bella, you should let Jasper and I take him. James will know you're with him. He knows you two are mates." He's right, but I don't want to leave him.
"Jasper doesn't have enough self-control." I reminded Alice.
"I'll keep him in control."
"Fine." I snapped.
"Emmett should stay, too." Edward said. Emmett gave him a weird look. Emmett is all about fighting, battles and competitions. "James got an eyeful of Emmett. Besides, you'll catch James easier if you stay."
"Fine, I'll stay." Emmett snapped.
"Well, now that the plan's figured out, let's put it into action." Emmett grinned, making me roll my eyes.
