I could feel it was too early again when I woke, and I knew I was getting the schedule of my days and nights slowly reversed. I lay in my bed and listened to the quiet voices of Alice and Jasper in the other room.
I got out of bed and went into the other room just as Alice's phone rang.
Alice's phone rang. She grabbed it and answered. Alice's lips were trembling with the speed of her words, the low buzzing impossible to decipher. I couldn't concentrate.
"Edward," Alice said. I looked at her numbly.
"Edward, Bella is coming to get you. She and Emmett and Carlisle are going to take you somewhere, to hide you for a while."
"Bella is coming?" The words were like a life vest, holding my head above the flood. I was excited.
"Yes, she's catching the first flight out of Seattle. We'll meet her at the airport, and you'll leave with her."
"Okay." I went into the bedroom and went to pack my bags.
But as I was packing my bags, my phone rang. The caller I.D. was from Elijah's house.
"Edward? Edward!" His voice was urgent, panicked and scared.
"Elijah? Elijah? Calm down!"
"Forks high school doesn't protect its student's privacy so well. Nor does William Howard Taft High School. It was too easy to find your previous address, and Elijah's home phone number. I have him with me…."
"What do you want? You can't hurt him! He's innocent!"
"Come to the ballet studio where your mom used to teach at."
"If I come, Elijah goes free?"
"Yes." He purred. "Do we have a deal?"
"Deal. I'll be there soon." I sighed and he hung up.
I left the bedroom.
"Jasper and I are going to check out. Come with us."
"Okay."
I followed Alice downstairs to the Lobby. While they were checking out, I saw a taxi outside. I snuck out, and got into the cab.
"Where do you wanna go?" He asked.
"Chicago Ballet arts."
"That's a weird designation, but whatever."
I spent the next twenty minutes thinking of Bella. I was going to die. I would never see my love again.
"We're here, kid."
"Thanks." I murmured, getting out.
I took a deep breath before going inside and facing my fate.
