She was slowly strolling through the beautiful roses in the White House rose garden. Ever since she was a child roses had been her favorite flower. Her mother had cultivated her love of them since her early childhood. Her mother was an award winning horticulturist. There had been numerous articles written about her roses and mountains of photo spreads featuring her flowers.

She had rose gardens everywhere they had lived. She always grew them to keep a piece of her mother with her since her parents death.

Elizabeth loved the smell of them and how the aroma of them calmed her. She would often take a walk in the garden when she was struggling with an important decision or second guessing one she already made. She was President of the United States and the job was difficult and taxing on her some days.

Henry found her standing running her fingers over the petals mindlessly. He knew she had just come from the situation room and the op she authorized caused two marines to lose their lives. He knew that anytime service members didn't get to come home to their families hurt her to her heart.

Elizabeth was hurting and thinking about how her life would have been changed had Henry been one of the marines when he was on active duty. She was lost in thought and didn't see him approaching her.

Henry walked up behind her and circled her waist with his arms. He rested his chin on her shoulder pulling her body tight into his.

"Are you doing okay? Is there anything I can do for you?" he asked her.

She turned into his embrace and told him, "you are doing it just being you." She snuggled deeper into his arms.

They stood holding each other blocking out all the bad in the world for a few more minutes. He pulled back looking down at her, "I can always find you amongst the roses when you are hurting. Imagine how good a cook you would have been had your mom been a gardener instead of a horticulturist," he giggled at her.

She smiled at him and said, "imagine all the beauty we would have missed out on all these years."

"Yea but we would have eaten better," he ribbed her.

She glared at him with a frown.

He pulled her back into his embrace and kissed her gently. She melted into the kiss deepening it. They knew they were not in a private location so they pulled out of the kiss just enjoying the quiet of the moment.

Elizabeth could not help but let her mind wander back to the roses. The aroma of the roses in full bloom brought her great joy and calmness.

She was just about to suggest to Henry they retire to the residence for some alone time, when Blake walked up.

"You are wanted back in the situation room," he told her.

Elizabeth sighed deeply and dropped her head to Henry's chest. She pouted up at him and reached up to kiss him goodbye. "To be continued later," she whispered to him. She walked away letting her hand drift across his body as long as possible, not wanting to lose the connection with him.

Henry stood looking out over the roses for a while thinking about how they would continue later when she retired to the residence. He would get someone to bring some to the residence and cover their bed in petals. That would surely bring a smile to her face.

Elizabeth was smiling as she walked to the situation room thinking about how later would play out...
