CalSci…
Morning class…
Charlie was finishing his class when he thought he saw some familiar faces but chalked it up to simple deja vu, though he could find out about it later, as he wanted to get some grading done so that he could make it home to help Don with his newborn.
The younger Eppes had to stop himself from chuckling as he would have plenty of time to think about it after the class.
A few minutes later almost all of the students have left to get to their other classes, except for several other students, including the familiar young girl.
The other three students had questions about particular assignments before the girl got the chance to talk to him and he was beginning to wonder if he saw her from somewhere but he was still having a difficult time placing it.
He would soon get his answer.
"Hi, Professor, do you remember me?" The young woman asked
"I think so but I'm not sure from where, sorry." Charlie admitted, embarrassed and a little ashamed that he couldn't quite place but he felt he was getting close.
"It's okay, I mean it's been a long time and I was a kid when your brother arrested my father for having a meth lab, among other things." The girl said, then it clicked for Charlie
"Libby?" He asked in amazement
"Hi, Professor." Libby said with a smile
"How have you and your Mom been?" Charlie asked, concerned as he knew the girl went through an awful experience with her "father" when he was arrested.
"It was rough for a while but we managed to get through it." Libby said with a smile before adding, "Mom got remarried four years ago, so it's Libby Mason now."
"That's great to hear, so what about you? What have you been up to?" Charlie asked out of curiosity
"Well, I'm starting classes tomorrow, which is here, and I found out that you were still teaching here, I wanted to meet with you." She said smiling, "As I wanted to thank you."
"I just helped out with the math, it was a team effort." Charlie said, who was a little puzzled
"I know but I still want to thank you and your brother, as I was wondering if it would be possible to meet with him, as I also wanted to thank him for saving me and Mom."
Charlie smiled as he knew his brother would be happy to hear someone from one of their cases was doing well and would be happy to hear about Libby and her Mom doing well.
"Sure I will call him and see if he would be able to talk with you as soon as he can." Charlie promised as Libby nodded with her goodbyes and left a number for him to call before he went to go call Don.
"Eppes." The other voice on the end
"Hey, Don guess who I just ran into." Charlie said as he went on to tell his brother about his encounter with Libby.
Evening..
Craftsman..
Don and Charlie were chatting with Alan and Robin while Amita was on the phone with a student with some last minute advice on some assignments.
"You okay, Buddy?" Don asked Charlie, as his younger brother was nervously fidgeting by the door.
"Yeah, I just never expected to see her at CalSci, though I'm honestly glad she is going to school there." Charlie said with a small smile
"I know but I am just glad we get to meet with them again in far better circumstances." Don said with a smile in return
A few minutes later, Libby and her mother, Michelle, came in, and Charlie and Libby hugged, happy to see each other again.
"So, Libby," Charlie said, as they all settled down at the table, "Tell me about the classes you will be taking this semester."
"Certainly, Charlie, in fact I was hoping you would be able to give me some advice about some of the classes I was taking."
"Sure, anything I can do to help." Charlie said smiling, as he and Libby continued to talk while Alan and the others talked to Michelle, happy to see both women doing well, despite the situation that Lambert put them through and are now having a life outside of that.
