Chapter 3
''Ron, you idiot! They're winning!''
Ginny smiled up at the sky. It was a sunny day and they had decided to come out to play some Quidditch with a few friends who had come over; Dean and Padma with their baby, Liliputt Thomas, Seamus Finnigan and Lavender Brown, who were a couple, Cho Chang and pregnant Katie and Oliver Wood and Deborah Sue Drumpleback. On the first team, Dean and Seamus were beaters, Lavender the keeper, Bill, Cho and Deborah the Chasers and Charlie the Seeker. On the second, George and Oliver (since there was no one else) were the Beaters, Ron the Keeper, Angelina, Audrey and Padma the Chasers and Harry the Seeker.
''I'm trying! Not my fault, Oliver!'' Ron roared back.
Ginny looked anxiously as George expertly raised his wooden bat and hurled the ''Bludger'' across to Charlie. Ginny had not quite got used to Quidditch and still thought it very dangerous. That didn't mean she didn't think about the memory that had had flashed into her mind the day before, or the picture in her locket. Charlie looked in George's direction nearly just in time dodge it. He threw a grin at everyone as he joined Harry in the search for the Snitch, the little fascinating golden ball with wings, one that Harry'd found in his trunk.
''Ten points for Bill! Ten points!'' shouted Percy, who was commentating.
Katie, who was sitting beside Ginny, groaned with unhidden irritance. She was pretty, Ginny thought, observing her. She was four months pregnant with twin girls and her stomach was very visible. Her hair, light brown and short, was loose and straight. Her eyes, which were a soft brown, were accompanied by rather long lashes.
''D'you like Quidditch?'' Katie asked abruptly.
''W-what?'' Ginny stammered.
''Quidditch,'' Katie repeated impatiently. ''did you like it before you lost your memory, I mean?''
''I- uh- Mum says I did,'' Ginny replied, feeling rather flustered.
Katie nodded and looked away.
''Harry Potter's caught the snitch!'' Percy suddenly shrieked. ''Harry's got the Snitch. Harry's group's won, two hundred points to fifty!''
Ginny stood up to clap. Harry got off his broom and there was a broad grin on his face. The small ball was clutched in his hand. Everyone was laughing and chatting, congratulating and smiling. Ginny walked to Harry, smiling softly.
''It was amazing!'' she whispered.
''Thanks,'' Harry smiled sadly. ''I- I wanna give you this,'' he held out the Snitch, ''I- have others. Just a -a memorial. For- you know-''.
He was cut off by Ginny uttering an exclamation of surprise and delight as she threw her arms around him. Unable to balance, Harry fell on the grass and the Snitch rolled out of his hand. Ginny blushed, standing up and picking the golden ball up. She examined it for a moment before tucking it in the pocket of her jacket, smiling.
''Than you,'' she said sincerely, looking into Harry's emerald eyes. ''Thank you so much.''
Suddenly, a flash went through her mind, picture displayed before her eyes. A memory! And it disappeared, out of mind. Ginny couldn't remember what it was - but it was so familiar! And so frustrating! She raised her eyes to Harry's and he looked at her with concern on his face. His bangs were separated and you could see his lightning bolt scar, faded against his white forehead. Ginny felt a powerful feeling wasjh over her, suffocating her, her mind in a muddle. It was over almost as soon as it had started.
''Are you okay, Ginny?'' Harry asked worriedly, looking down at her
''Y-yeah,'' Ginny stuttered. ''I'll just-um-go, yeah.''
Ginny ran up to her room, dropping the excuse that she was tired to her parents, and fell on her bed. She lay down there for a while, her heart beating. She fell asleep soon after. Suddenly she was woken by a noise, a shuffling of feet...
