Chapter 4
In the last chapter:-
Ginny ran up to her room, dropping the excuse that she was tired to her parents, and fell on her bed. She lay down there for a while, her heart beating. She fell asleep soon after. Suddenly she was woken by a noise, a shuffling of feet...
Chapter 4
Ginny could feel her heart beating. She kept her eyes shut tightly. She felt slightly uncomfortable in the zig-zag position she was sleeping in but she didn't dare to move. She felt soft hands grasp her shoulders, turning around so she was now laying face up. She felt someone fingering her chain. And then she felt their fingers roam down her neck to the locket. She felt, with a wave of panic, fingers prying the locket open. The picture being taken out. There was another shuffling of feet and close of door as the intruder left.
Ginny quickly sat up, gasping. She pulled the open locket in front of her face. The picture wasn't there! She suddenly felt as if she were about to cry. Her shoulders hunched and she buried her face into her hands, sobbing.
The next day, Ginny woke up. She instantly remembered what had happened. She looked terrible, her hair messy, her face streaked with tears. Ginny stood up and went to the mirror, trying to straighten herself out.
''It's a dream,'' she whispered to herself. ''Please be a dream.''
Ginny pried the locket open and looked inside nothing. She sighed. She would find whoever took her locket, she thought. That she would do. She took a quick shower, dressed and came down for breakfast. Everyone was at the table except Harry and Mrs Weasley, who was still busy spreading jam on bread. She was untying her apron when she saw Ginny.
''Oh, hello, dear,'' Mrs Weasley said.
''Hi, Mum,'' Ginny said, trying to smile. ''Um- where's Harry?''
''Oh, he's on Shire Hill. Flying, you know.'' Mrs Weasley answered.
Ginny ate her jam on bread and then decided she'd go over and ask Harry whether he knew who the intruder could be. and maybe gain a memory or two. After everyone had gone, Ginny walked over to Mrs Weasley.
''Mum, is Shire Hill far?'' she asked.
Mrs Weasley shook her head. ''No, it's not.''
So Ginny walked until she could see a stout green hill. She could see something whirling around and around the top of Shire Hill. She climbed up to the top and sat down. It was harry on his broom. His face was set and white. His shock of black hair stood on end. There were scratches on his knuckles. His scar stood out on his forehead. Seeing Ginny, Harry came back down. He waved his wand and a bottle of water appeared. Wiping his sweaty brow, Harry chugged it down.
''What're you doing here, Gin?'' Harry asked, smiling as he wiped his mouth.
''Nothing,'' Ginny replied casually. ''Just, the picture in my locket got stolen.''
Harry's jaw dropped.
