Chapter three:
Frisk begins walking forward knowing that there is no where else to go. She takes a small video of herself walking along trying to be brave. She needs to keep her head on her shoulders and not let it drift away. She has to be ready for anything. She ends the video after a little of walking where she even showed her face. She goes through the doorway then turns noticing a large cardboard box, one that's fashioned into some kind of little house. She spots some black writing on the front so she starts to approach it to read it. She finds that it's messy though she is still able to read it.
You observe the well-crafter sentry station. Who could have built this, you ponder... I bet it was that very famous Royal Guardsman! (Note: Not yet a very famous Royal Guardsman.)
Papyrus, Frisk is quick to realize. She chuckles at it as it seems a little silly to her. She turns away and continues on. She wonders how far the brothers could have gone. She keeps her eyes open and her ears alert for any noise. She doesn't want to be tackled from the darkness. She can see some wood beams with cardboard show pine trees with snow on them, placed here and there. She also sees them painted on the walls here and there. She is paused as a small child struts into her view.
The child has a large pointed hat made out of styrofoam, and an old ice cream cone on his nose.
"Wow. What a nice hat." Frisk mentions with a small smile to the small child.
The child looks to her as if he knows that it is a great hat. "Are you envious?" He questions staring at her as if she is nothing but a peasant. "Well that's too bad!" He grabs a box of old ice cream cones and starts to chuck them at her.
Frisk moves side to side to dodge the attacks from the other. She knows that the ice cream cones won't really hurt her, though it is good dodging practice. She skids to a stop as the child runs out of cones from that box.
The child tosses the box to the side and digs around behind himself. He pulls out another box of cones.
Frisk gets an idea and turns away from the hat. Acting as if she has to tear her eyes away from the sight of the hat.
The child speaks annoyed. "Hello!?" He shouts as Frisk glances back at him. "My hat is up here." He then starts chucking more cones at her.
Frisk does her best to dodge all of them that come her way. She stops when the box becomes empty again. She refuses to not look at the child's hat. She notices from the corner of her eye that the child looks defeated.
"At least I have the better hat!" The child turns and runs off back where he had come from.
Frisk turns to continue on ward now that the child is gone. She walks through the large room sticking to the main path, as there seems to be loose beams leaning against walls on either side. She spots a sign nailed to a beam with a twisted nail.
Absolutely no moving!
Frisk freezes and she listens in fear that there is someone who might be coming after her. She doesn't hear anything then she picks up the smell of something burning in the air. She turns to a small hut made of loose beams with a front desk bell on it. She swears that it is coming from there. She glances around confirming that no one else is around. She takes a few hesitant steps going towards the hut. She freezes as she steps in front of it only for someone to rise from inside of it.
The person has on a ski mask, a leopard print tank top, black pants, and a dog treat held between their teeth with one end burnt. The person glances around with shifty eyes, though the person doesn't seem to focus in on Frisk. "Did something move?" A males voice questions as the man continues to look around. "Was of my imagination? I can only see moving things."
Frisk suddenly felt that the sign makes much more sense now.
"If something WAS moving... For example, a human... Ill make sure it NEVER moves again!"
The threat sends a shiver of fear down Frisks spine and she tenses as the man pulls out two large knives.
The man moves out of the hut and stands in Frisks way, though still doesn't seem to really see her.
Frisk isn't sure if the man actually can't see anything or if he's just pretending. She knows that with those kitchen knives she'll need to be careful. She sees the man spit out the dog treat and realizes he must think he's a dog. So she tries to pet him only to stop as he looks suspicious from her moving. She will have to make sure that she has to be careful.
"Don't move an inch!" The man warns then starts waving his knives around in front of him.
Despite wanting to run Frisk stands as still as she can. She waits for a few moments and the man pulls the knives back with confusion.
The man can't seem to find anything.
Frisk takes the moment of confusion to move close enough to pet the mans forehead. She's glad that he's not that tall.
The mans eyes widen then, as Frisk takes her hand away, he swings his head side to side. "Pet! Pet! Pet!" He repeats making Frisk almost want to chuckle though she doesn't. "What! I've been pet!" He swings the knives though they're uncoordinated from the distraction. He doesn't find Frisk again and stops swinging the knives.
Frisk pets the mans neck not sure she can reach the mans face.
"Where's that coming from!" The man demands though he is clearly happy.
Frisk moves back again as the knives swing once more. She moves back in once the knives stop swinging. She lets his neck again.
"There's no end to it!" The man gasps and Frisk moves back once more. He swings his knives less enthusiastically than before. He gets pet once more. "Well thats thorough." He mentions and it happens once more. His whole demeanor changes to uninterested. "Okay, that's enough." He informs Frisk who backs off respectively. "S-S-Something pet me... Something that isn't... M-Moving..." the man heads for the hut he was in before. "I'm gonna need some dog treats for this!" He slinks back out of sight in the hut.
Frisk leaves him alone smelling the burning smell once more. She continues down the main path and after passing by two big pillars she spots Sans. She moves over to him as he smiles to her in greeting.
"Hey. By the way. I forgot to tell you something. My brother has this special attack. If you see a blue attack don't move and it won't hurt you. Think of it like a stop sign. Except one that's blue, not red." Sans then gestures with his head for her to move on.
Frisk turns and continues moving. She glances down seeing some blue paper. She believes that it's meant to be ice. She walks on the paper and heads to go along. She glances back though Sans is no longer behind her. She turns back only to stop as young adult approaches.
The adult has a pair of dog ears on his head, his hair is a mess, his mouth is open with his tongue hanging out, he's wearing a shirt with grey polo shirt, and a grey skirt that just covers him. He has a scribbled on piece of wood meant to be a sword in one hand, and a plastic shield scribbled on in black marker in the other hand.
Frisk can clearly see that this is another person who is meant to be a dog. She moves closer and barely lifts her hand. She notices that the man starts wiggling his butt in our excitement. She spots a white fake dog tail swaying with the movements of the mans butt. She smiles at the man letting their eyes meet.
The man pants at her then yips softly and bounces towards her.
Frisk moves to the side so she isn't hit as the man lands.
The man is barking turning to her in excitement. He then dashes off happily disappearing in the planks of wood.
Frisk shrugs and moves on. She walks through another doorway missing any doors. She finds that it is a large empty room. She sees that the large square in the middle made with dirt. She looks past the square only to spot Sans and Papyrus looking at each other on the other side.
"You're so lazy!" Papyrus complains to his brother with a groan. "You were napping all night!"
"I think that's called... Sleeping." Sans mentions shrugging his shoulders casually.
"Excuses, Excuses!" Papyrus tells him then turns noticing Frisk. He turns his body to face her as does Sans. "Oh-Ho! The human arrives!" He grins widely as the conversation he was having with his brother is forgotten. "In order to stop you... Me and my brother have created some puzzles!" He explains as Frisk listens to have has to say. "I think you will find this one... Quite shocking!" He slightly glances shifty eyed to his brother as though he cannot believe that he said that. He turns his focus back to Frisk as Sans doesn't even react. "For you see this is the invisible electricity maze!" He informs her proudly gesturing to the square of dirt between them. "When you touch the walls of this maze this orb." He pulls out a blue ball that just barely fits in his hand. "This one right here! Will administer a hearty zap!" He holds it up making sure that Frisk can see it. "Sound like fun?" His voice falters slightly as he shifts as though having second thoughts. "Because... The amount of fun you will probably have is actually rather small I think." He lowers his hand with the ball as he shifts once more. "Okay! You can go ahead now." He tells Frisk trying to convince himself that it'll be okay.
Frisk hesitates for a moment or two then she moves forward. As soon as she takes the first step onto the dirt Papyrus jumps around. She pulls her foot back scared that she just shocked him.
Though Sans doesn't really seem too concerned.
Papyrus stops and stands there for a moment or two. He starts to stomp his foot on the ground. "Sans!" He complains to his brother who turns to him. "What did you do?" He stops stomping his foot and Sans chuckles softly.
"I think that the human has to hold the orb." Sans explains and Papyrus turns to him as if a bit embarrassed.
"Oh, okay." Papyrus turns back to Frisk. He moves along walking a certain path in the dirt. His footsteps clearly being seen from where he is walking. He stops in front of Frisk who looks at him. He holds the ball to her. "Hold this please!" He tosses the ball in which she tries to grab it mid air.
The ball bounces lightly off her head then she manages to grab it.
With Frisk now having the ball Papyrus hurries back along the same path to get back to where his brother is. His footprints becoming even clearer when he does this. He turns back to face her smiling as though satisfied. "Okay! Try it again!"
Frisk, still holding the ball, walks along the path that Papyrus conveniently made visible. She isn't sure if the ball will actually shock her if she strays off the path or not. So she sticks to the path just to be safe.
It's no fun to get shocked.
Frisk makes it to the other side and she notices a smile on Papyruss face.
"Incredible! You slippery snail!" Papyrus tells her loudly and Frisk can't help a giggle at his words. "You solved it! So easily... Too easily!" He glances to his brother for a moment before turning back to Frisk. "However! The next puzzle will not be so easy! It is designed by my dear brother Sans." He explains and Frisk glances to Sans who is just standing there smiling. "You will surely be confounded! I know I am! Sans is the smartest skeleton I know after all!" He beams at praising his brother. "Nyeh heh heh heh heh!" He races off once more leaving Frisk alone with Sans.
Frisk tosses the ball to the side figuring that it's done with. She walks up to Sans hoping to ask him about what's coming up. She stops in front of him in which he speaks.
"Hey, thank you so much for doing this. My brother seems like he's having a lot of fun." Sans admits then chuckles softly. "And I told you that you'd be fine. Didn't I?" He mentions in which Frisk nods. "By the way, did you see that cool outfit that he's wearing? We made that a few weeks ago for a costume party. He doesn't wear anything else when going out of the house." He smiles a little more looking fondly. "He calls it his 'battle body'. To be honest I'm just glad that he likes it. Isn't Papyrus cool?"
Frisk smiles to herself being easily able to see how much Sans cares for his brother. "Yeah. He's cool." She agrees with him glancing the way Papyrus took off in. "I actually have a question of my own." She mentions as she turns back to Sans meeting his eyes. "The puzzle up ahead... Your brother said that you made... Is there anything I should know about?" She is hopeful that Sanss friendly attitude means that his puzzle won't cause her harm.
Sans gently pats one of his hands on her head. "Don't worry kiddo. I got you covered." He takes his hand away after telling her this. "Now, why don't you go after my brother? I'll meet you up ahead. I'll be taking a shortcut."
"Okay." Frisk nods feeling a little less nervous than before. She turns and heads along the way that Papyrus was going. She pauses and glances back only to find that Sans is already gone. She decides to not take a picture of that area just in case it upset Sans if he's in the shadows. She turns to face forward again and walks on wondering what exactly will be waiting for her this time. She exits the room and has to turn as she finds that only a wall is in front of her. She turns to look down the right realizing she has stepped into another hallway. She finds that part of the floor is broken with a large plank of wood placed like a bridge. She turns only to see someone standing by an wold persons walker with sheets draped on it, plus a torn up black umbrella is open and duck taped to the walker.
The man has on a blue long sleeved shirt, torn blue rubber gloves, a yellow shirt with a line of red drawn in red marker, red pants, and his long hair is styled as if having two ears, and having long bangs that slightly stick up. He isn't wearing any shoes or socks and he seems a bit bored.
Frisk turns to move on before the man speaks to her as if just noticing her.
"Hey! A potential customer! Say! Girl!" The man calls to her and she looks to him. "I don't know why these aren't selling though perhaps you'd like to buy one?"
"What are they?" Frisk tilts her head slightly curious. She feels like she can only imagine what this crazy man thinks that he is selling.
"They're nice cream! They have nice things on the wrapper to warm your heart!" The man pulls out a melted freezie with writing in black sharpie on it; making Frisk relax slightly.
Though Frisk isn't sure if he's managed to poison them with something. She spots an old penny on the ground so she picks it up. "Sure." She doesn't want this man coming after her for not getting anything. She offers the penny which the man takes.
"Here's your nice cream!" The man hands her the melted freezie. "I hope that you have a wonderful day! And don't forget to tell your friends that there's nice cream out here!"
Frisk glances to the wrapper and smiles at the words 'You are fantastic' written in sharpie on it. She puts it in her pocket and heads towards the supposed bridge. She glances down to where the floor is broken. She sees a potentially long fall that goes into darkness. She takes a picture of the bridge and of the gap. She turns to the bridge and attempts to step on it with one foot. She blinks in surprise as there isn't even a creak. She carefully walks onto it and finds that it is more stable than it looks. She crosses easily and heads further down the hall. She turns to glance into one room spotting nothing but a large white ball, and a plastic golf hole toy. She continues on down the hall doubting that it's important. She spots Sans leaning against a wall and goes up to him. "Hey Sans."
Sans turns to her hearing her greeting. "Hey there kid." He greets smiling as usual. "You know, I've been thinking about selling treats too. Do you want some fried snow? It's only five Gs."
"Um. No sorry." Frisk is about to search her pockets, wondering if he will force her to buy it, she feels safer to say no to him as he hasn't hurt her yet. She stops looking when Sans speaks again.
"You're right I should charge way more than that."
At this Frisk figures that this is probably some joke. "I'm sorry. I should get moving."
"It's okay. See you there."
Frisk starts walking then glances into a room by where Sans is. She spots two cardboard homes sitting there with big letters on them.
One has HIS on it and the other has HERS on it.
Frisk notices a sign next to the doorway so she takes a look.
Smell danger rating:
Snow smell Snowman, white rating can become Yellow rating.
Unsuspicious smell, puppy Blue rating, smell of rolling around.
Weird smell, humans, Green rating, Destroy at all costs!
Frisk takes mental note deciding to keep the blue rating smell part in mind. Not really interested in trying to be a snowman with how that rating is written. She heads off forward where she was going. She spots a door and reaches for the knob. She twists it opening it and sees Sans and Papyrus waiting for her inside.
A piece of paper sitting there on the ground between her and them.
"Human!" Papyrus greets at seeing Frisk again. "I hope you're ready for..." He pauses for a moment as he stares at the piece of paper. "Sans!" He looks to his brother with his fists on his hips. "Where's the puzzle!" He demands as Sans glances to his brother smiling a little more.
"It's right there." Sans gestures a hand to the piece of paper sitting on the floor. "On the ground." He lowers his hand glancing back to his brother. "Trust me. There's no way they can get past this one."
"Well alright Sans. I'll give it a chance." Papyrus agrees to this and the two wait for Frisk to move further into the room.
Frisk glances around the area by the paper though she doesn't see anything out of place. She takes a breath then let's go of the door and she approaches the piece of paper. She pauses as the floorboards creak. She is about to take a step back when she glances up. She sees Sans flash her an assuring smile. She can see on his face that he's trying to tell her that she will be okay. She puts some trust into the other and walks forward more and more. She reaches where the piece of paper is sitting on the floor. She looks down wondering if anything is written on it. She finds that it is a piece of paper torn from a book of some kind, and it has a kids word search on it. She turns away from it and heads straight towards the two. She stops in front of them and Papyrus turns to his brother.
"Sans! It didn't do anything!" Papyrus complains to his brother, though Frisk notices them share something between them when their eyes meet.
Frisk just wishes she could have read what they silently said to each other before it was gone.
"Whoops." Sans shrugs at this. "I knew I should have used today's crossword instead."
At this Papyrus blinks. "What are you talking about? Crossword? I can't believe you'd even consider that! In my opinion Junior jumble is easily the hardest!"
"What? That easy-peasy word scramble?" Sans gives his brother an amused look. "Bro, that's for baby bones." He almost seems to want to laugh though he holds back.
"UnBelievable." Papyrus rolls his eyes at his brothers comment. He turns to look to Frisk who is slightly amused by them. "Human! Solve this dispute! Or else we could be here all day. So tell us which one is harder!"
Frisk looks to Papyrus then she turns to Sans in slight thought. She notices Sans lightly shrug as if he doesn't actually care what she says. She turns back to Papyrus deciding on what she needs to do. "The Junior jumble." She says and Papyrus grins widely.
"Ha! Ha! Yes! Humans must be very intelligent if they also find Junior jumble so difficult!" Papyrus looks pleased with this answer.
"I'm sure your brother is very intelligent too." Frisk quickly tells Papyrus worried about Sanss feelings being hurt. To her Papyruss words sounded as though he was saying his brother wasn't very smart, for not finding Junior jumble difficult.
"Well yes he is." Papyrus confirms. "He is intelligent in his own ways. Though he already knows that quite well." He turns away and hurries off going out the second door, leading back to the hallway.
"Thanks a Skele-Ton for saying Junior jumble to appease my brother." Sans looks to Frisk who approaches him once Papyrus is gone. "You know, he sometimes takes his love of puzzles way too seriously." He glances where Papyrus went off to then back to Frisk. "Yesterday he got stumped trying to 'solve' the horoscope." He chuckles at this as does Frisk.
Frisk definitely feels as though she can trust Sans.
He seems so fun and relaxed not to mention kind. "We'll go on ahead. I bet you're just itching to get on with things."
Frisk nods her head and goes back into the hallway. She sees two tables placed in the hall by a hole smashed in the wall. She moves closer as she checks an unplugged microwave on one table, then a plate of moldy spaghetti placed on the other table with a fork sitting next to it. She pauses as something crinkles under her foot. She looks down to see a piece of paper. She moves back to read what is written on it. She sees the same writing from that one sign that she figured was made by Papyrus.
Human! Please enjoy some spaghetti! Little down you know, this spaghetti is a trap... Designed to entice you! You will be so busy eating that you won't realize that you aren't making progress! Thoroughly japed again by the great Papyrus! Nyeh heh heh heh! Papyrus.
Frisk chuckles softly at the note though sticks her tongue out, lowers her eye brows, and glares at the moldy spaghetti in disgust.
No way is she going to even try to eat that!
She turns away so she doesn't have to look at it. She then notices a book just like the other one. She sees the same names in it though different time and dates. She writes her name in it like before as she wants to know if she gets lead in circles. She then heads on over to the microwave. She notices that the setting buttons are all covered by a black sharpie written word, written over and over again all over it, Spaghetti. She admits that it is kind of amusing. She leaves it alone and snaps a picture of the area. She then heads past the tables going down the hallway to see what will come next. She passes by two doors leaning against the wall on either side of the hallway. She notices that it seems that they were somehow ripped off of where they once were. She spots a doorway by the doors though broken shards of glass are on the floor. She walks the line where there isn't any glass. She won't risk trying to get into either of those rooms. She leaves that scene behind herself as she stays alert for anyone.
Up ahead she sees some kids trying to ditch one kid who holds a hoop around its hips.
The hoop really makes the kid look like it has long hips and small legs.
Frisk leaves that alone deciding to not get involved. She lets them run into a room and continues passed them. She pauses as two figures wearing black sheets like cloaks, with black clothes underneath with no shoes or socks come forward. She sees them holding foam axes and they pause.
AN:
Okay. So I tried just playing a walkthrough video for dialogue and such but I will never finish it if I keep that up. So I'll change that a bit to keep my own sanity, Having to go through it then pause and pause made it take so long to get through one part I spent hours doing the with the part with the box until this point that's how long it took, plus I tried to make some different dialogue, and love for this story. Plus I'm starting to find it's not fun if I just using that as like a guide of events. So I'm going to do what I should have been doing all along. Just making things my way for this story as I go. I might still have things from a walkthrough if at some point that's my mood. Though I think I may have scared myself away from it so I probably will only use a walkthrough if I feel I need to.
The story would never get published if I had to go back to change things up a bit. I've found I'm less likely to go back to a story if I have to go back on events to change things.
I'll try to add as many of the events as I can though I'm sorry if I end up missing some.
I hope that you continue to enjoy!
KitKat.
