Special 5,000th Battle: Mii Brawler vs. Mario
On a beautiful spring evening at Midair Stadium, everyone is gearing up for a very special battle. The referee for this amazing showdown is Ken Masters and he is enjoying his role very well. He smiled to the crowd and said, "Good evening, Midair Stadium! Are you ready for some Smash Bros. action?"
The entire stadium agreed with him as they are cheering with joy.
"That is what I'm talking about! Tonight is a very special night for us as we are now entering our... 5,000TH MATCH!"
And with that, the crowd erupted in big cheers as fireworks begin to go off. Ken saw it all and said, "That's right, everyone! 5,000 amazing battles in this fifth tournament and for tonight's matchup, we have two amazing fighters who will be going head-to-head in a primetime showdown that you don't want to miss. So, shall we bring them out?"
"YEAH!" The crowd replied.
"Then let's do it! Our first combatant of the night is the mascot of Nintendo. His hobbies include sports, kart racing, and food. Ladies and gentlemen, making his way to the arena is the Mushroom Kingdom's legendary hero! It's... MARIO!"
Just then, the red doors open up as Mario entered the stadium with a huge smile as the crowd cheered for him.
When Mario came to the center of the arena, he tipped his hat to the crowd.
Ken looked at the blue door and said, "And now, let's meet our second combatant for tonight. He is known as the Brawler of many faces and he can fight with his punches and kicks. You know him, you love him. Ladies and gentlemen, here he is! The Brawler of Many Faces... REGINALD!"
Just then, Reginald came out of the blue doors as the crowd cheered for him. Then he did his cartwheels and delivered a roundhouse kick to the center of the arena as the cheering continued on.
When everything is all done, Ken said, "There they are, ladies and gentlemen! Your combatants for tonight's special showdown! Great to see you, guys!"
"Thank you for having us, Ken," Mario replied with a smile.
Ken came to Reginald and said, "Well Reginald, you've been fighting against many opponents during the years and now, you're up against Mario tonight. How do you feel?"
"It feels so good," Reginald replied, "I'm so glad that I get to fight the mascot of Nintendo! It's a dream come true!"
"Well, I hope you'll do great tonight. Good luck to you."
"Thanks, Ken."
Then Ken came to Mario and said, "Now Mario, you've been doing a lot of sports according to your profile. Is that true?"
"Of course, Ken," Mario replied with a smile, "I'm an athlete in many sporting events including golf, tennis, soccer, basketball, and kart racing. That is what I do in my spare time and after all, we are at the 5,000th Super Smash Bros. match so, I hope that tonight's battle is going to be smashing!"
"Well, let's hope that your fighting skills will come in handy tonight. Best of luck to you."
"Thanks, Ken."
Ken came in to the center of the arena and said, "All right, you two. For tonight's special showdown, there will be no items and to make this battle extra special, we'll give you five minutes of fighting time! Whoever has the most KOs at the end of the match, wins. If there's a tie, then the match will go to Sudden Death. Got it?"
"Got it," Mario and Reginald replied at the same time.
"All right, then! Fighters, take your places."
With that, Mario and Reginald took their places on the opposite sides of the arena. Ken smiled at the sight and said, "You can feel the tension here in this stadium as we get set for an amazing battle and the fighters are all warmed up and ready to go. So can we have five minutes up on the scoreboard, please?"
The scoreboard agreed with Ken as the screen shows the fighters along with a timer that is set for five minutes. With that, the battle is officially set and ready to go.
Ken looked at the fighters and said, "Combatants, are you ready?"
"Ready, Ken," Mario and Reginald replied at the same time.
"All right, then! The battle will begin on the count of three. Audience, would you like to join me in the countdown?"
The entire stadium agreed with him as they are cheering with excitement.
"Okay then, here we go!"
So Ken raised his hand up as the audience joined him for the countdown. It is time to fight.
"3..."
Mario assumed his battle stance.
"2..."
Reginald looked at him as he took his battle stance.
"1..."
Both fighters smiled at each other as they await the signal to start the match. Ken looked at the fighters one last time, took a deep breath and then...
It is time.
"GO!"
With the word shouted, Ken dropped his hand as Mario and Reginald charged at each other to start the fight with the crowd making its biggest cheer.
Mario starts it off with a few fireballs while Reginald used his shield to block it. Then Mario used his Super Jump Punch to damage Reginald as the crowd cheered. Ken looked at the fight and said, "And we're off to a great start, folks. Mario used his Super Jump Punch to give Reginald some damage. Now that's how you do it in Smash!"
As the fight raged on, both battlers are using their moves to damage each other. From the Head-On Assault to Mario's Fireballs, these two fighters are enjoying a great time.
Just then, Mario delivered a meteor smash to send Reginald out of the stadium to score his first KO. Ken saw it all and said, "And we have our first KO of the battle! Mario has used a meteor smash on Reginald to give him the first point of the match. Looks like Reginald is taking his time to get back up as we approach the three-minute mark."
Then Reginald came back on stage and used his Exploding Side Kick on Mario to send him out and tie the game.
"Nice Exploding Side Kick from Reginald and with that KO, this game is tied at one," Ken said to the crowd as the scoreboard updates the current score. It is now one to one with two minutes and fifty seconds left to play.
Everyone in the stadium is enjoying the action as both fighters kept on going.
"We are now entering the final sixty seconds of the match," Ken announced as the timer shows the final minute, "Both fighters are doing very well here and with the score tied at one, it is still anyone's game!"
Mario decided to use his Super Jump Punch on Reginald to score a KO, but Reginald used his Counter Throw to grab and send him down.
"A Counter Throw from Reginald with only thirty seconds left," Ken said with a smile, "This is going to be an exciting ending to this battle!"
Mario and Reginald looked at each other as the timer shows the final fifteen seconds of the game. Both fighters charged up their Smash attack and unleashed it at full power to deliver the final hit.
Ken saw it all and said "Fifteen seconds! 14, 13, 12, 11..."
The audience saw it all and decided to join in on the final countdown. It all comes down to this, the final ten seconds.

"8..."
"7..."
"6..."
"5..."
"4..."
"3..."
"2..."
"1..."
Both fighters smiled at each other, braced themselves for impact and then...
The moment came.
BUZZ!
BOOM!
A huge explosion covered the arena in smoke as the final buzzer went off to signify the end of the game.
Everyone in the stadium is waiting for the results as the smoke starts to clear up.
When the smoke cleared, it shows that both fighters are sent out of the stadium at the same time.
Ken saw it all and with a huge smile, he made his official announcement.
"That was... AWESOME! What a finish to this amazing showdown as Reginald and Mario used their Smash attack to deliver an amazing KO to each other at the last moment and to make it official, that is... GAME!"
With the word shouted, the entire stadium erupted in big cheers as the battle came to an end.
Mario and Reginald came up to the center of the arena as the crowd cheered for these two warriors. Ken came to them and said, "That was an amazing battle, guys."
"Thanks, Ken," Reginald replied with a smile.
"Both of you are amazing fighters and I love how you finish this battle with a Smash attack. Well guys, this is it! Are you ready to find out who won?"
"Let's do it, Ken," Mario replied.
Ken agreed with him and said, "All right, then! Here we go! After five minutes of battling, the final score is..."
Mario and Reginald turned their attention at the scoreboard as the drum roll began. Everything they've done leads up to this moment, the final results.
The entire stadium grew silent as they await the results. The process takes fifteen seconds and then...
DING!
The results are in.
"Two to two! That means we are now going to... SUDDEN DEATH!"
Mario and Reginald looked at the scoreboard and it shows that both fighters have scored 2 KOs in five minutes. Now it all comes down to this, a Sudden Death tiebreaker to decide the winner.
Ken came to them and said, "Okay, guys. Since this match ends in a tie, the winner will now be decided with Sudden Death. Both of you will start the tiebreaker with 300% damage and the first person to score a hit, wins. Got it?"
"Got it," Reginald and Mario replied with a thumbs up.
Ken agreed with them as he took out his whistle. Then he said, "Okay, then. Now take your places and get ready to fight on my whistle."
Both competitors took their stance as they await the whistle. Ken looked at them and said, "Fighters, are you ready?"
"Ready," They replied.
"All right, then. Here we go! Can we dim the lights and have complete silence in the audience, please?"
The entire stadium agreed as the crowd grew silent. Then all of the lights of the stadium dimmed down as a spotlight now shines on Ken and the fighters. It all comes down to this, Sudden Death!
Ken looked at them as they are tensed up and ready to go. Then he raised his whistle up to his lips and said, "Ready..."
Both fighters looked at each other once more, took a deep breath and then...
It is time.

With the whistle blown by Ken, both fighters took off at the same time, aimed their fist at their opponent and then...
PUNCH!
Someone has been sent out of the stadium with a single punch.
Ken looked at the hit and it shows that Reginald has left the stadium. Then he took out his whistle and with a single blow...
He delivered the final results.

"GAME! MARIO WINS!"
With the announcement made, the entire stadium cheered very loudly as Mario delivered a victory punch to the camera. Then Reginald came to him and said, "Great fight, Mario!"
"Same to you, Reginald," Mario replied with a smile as they shook hands for a great fight, "You did a great job defeating me in the main fight and I love it!"
"Thanks, Mario. Your final punch really knocked me out and I love it! Now let's go get some burgers from Burger Smash. My treat!"
"You got it."
And so, Reginald and Mario had a great time fighting as the crowd cheered for them.
