Chapter seven:
Frisk checks the door Mettaton burst through. She feels the wall by the door until she finds the light switch. She just finds it to be a small storage room with boxes. She opens one box finding some blankets. She doesn't have time to go through all the boxes. She should get moving. She leaves the room turning the light off again. She heads to another door and opens it. She sees a table with all sorts of craft items on it, some pieces of toys, and a few tools. She supposes it's one of Alphys's work stations. She leaves it alone and goes to another door.
This one is past where Alphys is.
Frisk opens the door and looks inside. She sees some others moving around inside. She notices that their costumes seem to have been sown together, like they're some weird abominations that melted together. She quickly closes the door feeling her heart pound a little. She must admit some of them looked kind of crazy and scary. She quickly moves on from that deciding to just leave the lab. She feels like she's seen enough. She makes it out finding herself back in a Hotlands looking area. She moves forward keeping her eye out for anyone. She does pull out her camera to record a little. She wants to be able to show some things, when she gets out of here that is. She pauses as someone comes out in front of her.
This human appears to be a ten year old child who is bent over, walking one his hands and feet, a bucket on his back painted like a volcano with some lava dripping out, and he is wearing clothes to try to match it. His amber eyes blink innocently at Frisk as he moves a little closer. His smile so pure and happy that Frisk can't help smiling too. "Hello there stranger. You look like you could use a healing boost. Here let me help you." He throws pretty solid red pieces of jello at her.
Frisk dodges it, just not feeling like being hit by the jello, and after a minute of her dodging the attacks stops.
The child heads over and grabs the pieces that were thrown. He looks to Frisk sadly.
"I'm sorry." Frisk kneels down and gives the child a hug. "I just don't get healed by lava. My body gets hurt by it." She sees the child looks more understanding. "I really appreciate you trying."
"Okay! I'm sorry!" The child nods understandingly to this so they move apart. "I guess we do look pretty different. Okay I'll let you head on your way." He heads off with that letting Frisk move forward.
Frisk sighs in relief after the encounter and gets up heading onward. She goes towards the end of the hall only to be stopped as a teen female.
This teen girl has on a weird pink hat with a bow, with cardboard cut and painted like an airplane. She walks around as if she is an airplane. Her hair hidden by the hat, her skin is rather pale, and her brown eyes sparkle with childishness.
Frisk sighs figuring of course this would happen. "Hello there!" She puts on a fake smile to the teen. "It's nice to meet you."
"Shut up. It's not like I think you're cute baka!" The teen then pretends to fly towards Frisk making firing sounds, while throwing pen lids around Frisk. She brushes the tip of her fake wing against Frisks arm. She moves away.
Frisk is glad the attacks are pretty harmless. She turns away slightly as if pretending to not be interested. She hopes that maybe it'll drive her away.
"Pay attention to me Baka!" The teen shouts at Frisk and flies around throwing more pen lids a few hitting the sane human.
Frisk turns to the teen wondering what could drive her away. She then notices that this time the teen doesn't brush her arm. She moves closer and brushes a hand on the fake wing. She sees the teen blush slightly.
"It's not like I like you or anything! You baka!" The teen retorts though approaches Frisk trying to brush against her.
Frisk reaches out touching the fake wing deepening the teens blush. She does this a few more times before the teen seems satisfied.
"Maybe we should hang out sometime." The teen suggests with a smile and blushing cheeks.
"You're pretty cool. I just have some stuff to do. Plus maybe you need someone better than me." Frisk doesn't want a follower from this place. She wants to be done with all of it already, she doesn't need to have to worry about a stalker girl.
"You know maybe you're right. Thank you." With that the teen pretends to fly off down the hall in the direction Frisk came from.
Frisk heads in forward to get out of here. She turns finding a hallway to the right plus left through the door at the end of the hall. She notices random stuff piled to the left so she heads to the right. She can tell she must still be in Hotlands based on how it is all painted. She turns heading through the doorway when stacked desks block her way. She finds herself approaching a painted puzzle.
There's metal grate platforms, with glued on painted arrows, and the sound of small fans can be heard from under the grate platforms.
Frisk contemplates just walking around the whole thing. She takes a step to do so but leaps back as the ground makes a cracking sounds. She looks over the ground more closely seeing that it has weak spots. She doesn't see it around the platforms so she'll have to give it a try. She swears her heart is pounding in her chest. She could fall and get hurt or die. She closes her eyes and shakes her head. She can do this. She just has to take a leap of faith. She hesitates for a few moments longer as her body tries to resist the idea. She finally jumps to one of the platforms and is relieved that it's all fine. She jumps to the next platform then the next until she made it across. She doesn't feel the obligation to actually follow the arrows.
Besides no one seems to be here so no one would know.
Frisk heads on forward wondering what could be waiting for her next. She supposes anything is possible at this point. She has no way of knowing what these insane people will throw next. She glances into a room spotting an old pan that looks to have been bunt possibly intentionally. She leaves it not wanting to carry it around. She spots Alphys up ahead and knows that something is going to happen. She notices Alphys bring up a phone when she gets close. She pretends to answer the phone given to her. "Hello?"
"H-Hello human. It's m-me. Listen. The door isn't g-going to open u-unless you solve the puzzles on e-either side." Alphys explains so Frisk glances to the doors across from each other on the hallway walls by the door.
Frisk does notice a blue string is across the entrance to one of the doors.
"Um... I-I guess start w-with the door on the r-right. I'll get t-to work on that l-laser on the other side s-since you can't pass it. S-Since it is a b-blue one." Alphys lets out a nervous laughter then hangs up. She disappears into the darkness of the room she is in.
Frisk puts away the fake phone and heads too the door that Alphys had spoken of. She doesn't feel the confidence to challenge a group of lunatics; on whether or not they'd actually lock the door leading out of this hall. She finds herself standing in a dimly lit room. She can see the room is bigger than it seems but is blocked off by furniture. She can see control panel made of a speech tablet on a black desk, a box with a greenish yellow arrow on it, some boxes painted black and white, some boxes just have the edges painted while others have the whole part painted, then a box with a white arrow at the other end. She supposes this is a bit of an interesting puzzle. She glances around only to notice a piece of paper sitting off to the side. She heads over picking it up skimming through it.
Basically it explains she needs to move the boxes to shoot the arrow on the other side.
Frisk puts the paper back then heads to the control panel. She glances up noticing someone in a black bodysuit lurking around. She sees that they are trying to stay low as if to stay out of sight. She guesses this person must be the one that makes the puzzle work. She looks to the control panel seeing buttons for up, down, left, right and shoot. She looks up to try to get a better idea of the puzzle. She guesses that she might be able to shoot through the boxes... Though she may have limited ammo she's not sure. She stares at the puzzle for a good little bit then tries pressing the down button.
The device speaks saying down in a robotic voice.
The person moves the upper box with only the edges painted down. Then seems to wait for the next move.
Frisk hits right button so the box is moved to the right when the device speaks the command. She then notices that there's no space to move the other movable box, without causing the already moved box to be moved in the way. She guesses that means she can shoot through them. She hits the fire button hoping for the best.
The person uses a glow stick and hits the box in the way then tosses it to the side.
Frisk guesses it means that the box is destroyed. She fired again and this time gets a hit on the enemy arrow.
The person makes a sound mimicking a winning sound.
Frisk leaves the room and heads towards the room with the string blocking the path. She spots Alphys hiding in the room next to it. She pretends to pick up the phone for the other.
"O-Okay. I should be able to s-shut off that laser blocking t-the door. Hold o-on one second." Alphys shuffles as they sit in silence for a few moments. She then sneaks out and keeping low quickly pulls the string off, which is easy as it was only held by tape. She hurries back to where she was before then speaks again. "O-Okay. It should be g-go through now."
"Thanks. It's gone." Frisk plays along for now then they end the call. She heads through the door and the person in the black body suit goes past her. She finds that it's the same puzzle but with a different number of boxes, meaning a different solution. She approaches the control panel ready to try to figure this out. Her gaze sweeping over all the boxes having a better grip on the puzzle than the first time. She takes her time to figure this out and she thinks she has the answer. She hits left, down, left and shoots twice. "Yes!" She fist pumps the air at getting the puzzle correct. She leaves the room and hears the door leading forward unlock. She was right to assume it was locked it seems. She heads through the door finding a slightly dark room with only the front area being lit. She doubts this can be good. She can't even tell how big the room is.
Alphys pokes out from behind Frisk who jumps when the other makes ringing sounds.
Frisk pretends to answer the phone.
"T-The room you're i-in shouldn't be this d-dark. Try w-walking a little f-further in. It s-should be safe. I-I'll work on f-finding the lights." Alphys moves past Frisk, who moves out of the way, disappearing into the darkness.
Frisk lets out a breath and steps into the darkness trying to feel around. She can't see anything and she can't feel any walls either. She becomes confused wondering if this is a hallway or a bigger room.
"I-I think I've g-got the lights under c-control." Alphys's voice in the dark makes Frisk jump again.
Frisk groans softly to herself at why Alphys has to do that to her. She covers her eyes briefly as the lights are turned on. She lowers her hand and blinks after hearing Alphys mutter an 'Oh No!' only to find Mettaton standing by a cardboard counter.
They're in an open room with the place decked out like it's some kind of kitchen. From painted floors, painted cardboard appliances plus counters, all the way to real cooking materials laid out on the counter Mettaton is by.
Mettaton has also thrown a chef hat on top of his head.
Alphys is on the far edge where a plastic looking camera stands on sticks to make a tripod. He ducks behind the camera as if she's not supposed to be here. "It'll be o-okay. I'll give y-you help where I c-can." She then 'hangs up' for now.
Frisk turns her attention to Mettaton who waves at the camera.
"Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to cooking with a killer robot!" Mettaton greets the camera lowering his arm. "We have a special guest with us today. A human from the surface oh how delightful."
Frisk hopes that Mettaton won't actually kill her. She gives a small wave to the camera forcing a smile. She's not going to test Mettaton on how serious he is on killing her. So she might as well play along for now.
"Today we are going to bake a delicious cake!" Mettaton glances to Frisk who looks to him. "Human. Please gather the sugar, milk and the eggs."
Frisk glances behind them and notices the ingredients sitting on a cardboard box. She guesses it's meant to be a counter so she goes over to it. She stays alert for any signs of a sneak attack from Mettaton. She gets the ingredients which she notices is all real. She does think the milk carton feels light possibly empty though. She shrugs it off and brings the ingredients to Mettaton. She places them in front of him.
"Well done human! But we're still missing a very crucial ingredient." Mettaton turns appearing a bit more intimidating to Frisk.
Frisk takes a step back then another as Mettaton starts to advance.
"A human soul. And we're soo lucky to have one right here my darling viewers." Mettaton stops when Alphys makes ringing noises. "Ah. That's your cellphone. I suppose I can let you have one last conversation before you perish."
Frisk pretends to answer the phone and hopes Alphys will get her out of here.
"I-I have an idea. P-Push the megaphone b-button. Maybe I can s-stop this."
Frisk presses a random button and holds it up to Mettaton.
"U-Um excuse me. B-But is there a-any potential v-vegan version of this i-ingredient?" Alphys inquires and Mettaton seems to be a little thoughtful.
"A vegan alternative?" Mettaton perks up as if excited. "Oh why yes. I do believe that we can do that. I have some sitting off to the side actually. Human why don't you be a darling and go get the substitute ingredient." He points to where it is so Frisk cautiously heads over to it.
Frisk notices that it is a can with taped on piece of paper with writing on it. She notices it looks like marker. She can't help noticing the fishing line attached to the can. She knows she shouldn't trust it. She just doesn't want to risk being attacked by Mettaton trying to escape. She sees Mettaton moving so she stops to watch him. She sees him going to the back so she guesses he's going to pull the string. She gets closer to the can only to watch it be lifted into the air, along with the open on the bottom box it's sitting on.
"Oh dear! Looks like our special guest is going to have to climb to reach it! But we can only give them a certain amount of time. We don't have all day. Can they reach it? Or will they fail and we'll have to use our first idea?" Mettaton questions the camera keeping the can and box in the air.
"H-Hold on. I a-added a feature o-on your new phone. I-I added it in my excitement of the u-upgrades." Alphys tells Frisk who listens. "Press the jetpack button." She 'hangs up' after that.
Frisk checks the thing Alphys gave her and she presses another random button. She hears Alphys making sounds as if it has turned into a jetpack. She plays along and pretends to fly hoping it's what she needs to do. She finds it is as Mettaton starts throwing eggs at her.
Mettaton chuckles as if planning to make her not make it in time.
Frisk dodges and pretends to try to stay on track for the substitute. She notices that Mettaton is slowly lowering the string. She keeps going while still dodging the eggs. She soon enough can almost reach it.
"Ten. Nine. Eight. Seven." Mettaton begins a countdown making Frisks heart race.
Frisk tries to boost the jetpack reaching for the can. Her hand touches it then Mettaton lets the box fall to the ground. She notices the can shifts with it showing it's glued to the box.
"And it seems we are out of time. The human did make it though so well done! We hope to see you next time!" Mettaton starts to head off then heads towards the way forward. He then comes back staring right at Frisk. "The cake you ask? Forget it. I already baked it ahead of time." He actually leaves this time with that.
Frisk notices Alphys doing the same so she groans about more being up ahead. She can feel herself shaking a little as she's given a time of quietness. She takes out her camera and moves around the set recording it. She does so to calm herself as she lets herself take a little time to herself. She can get through this. She's gotten through all the stuff before after all. She puts her camera away once she's calmed down enough. She moves onward not having much of a choice. She surely can't be far from a way out. She pauses spotting a boarded up security room. She glances around confirming she's alone. She starts to pull off the wood planks. She slips inside and finds the light on the ceiling is dim and close to going out. She finds it provides enough light though. She spots a map on the wall and looks at it. She sees that it says to go to the bottom floor to evacuate. She guesses it's the main way out. She doubts the map will be too helpful due to the changes made thanks to the delusions.
There is also some computers on their own desks by a desk with no computers.
Frisk heads there next to check at least one of the computers. She finds that this one has an account that doesn't need a password. She clicks into it and looks over the folders that appear. She still sees no Wi-Fi but maybe she can learn more about things here, possibly even a way out. She clicks on the folder labeled camera footage. She finds a bunch of videos. She clicks on one of the videos seeing what must be the front entrance.
Some people come in heavily armed looking people who must be from the CIA or the army. They are walking around when they turn as someone shuts the door on them.
This person is draped in a purple blanket as if it is a cloak, a set of fake white large horns on his head hidden by messy blonde hair.
Before the armed individuals can either take down this person or take him into custody, they are attacked by what looks to be guards... Just not the sane ones as they all are dressed up as if they are monsters.
Frisk stops the video not wanting to watch this anymore. She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. She opens her eyes and closes that video. "I guess when the agents were taken out by the 'monsters' then they must have put the place off limits or something." She guesses and suddenly starts to wonder what chance she has to get out.
Especially if armed and trained soldiers were taken out.
Frisk feels panic start to rise up in her throat. She takes some calming breaths. She knows that she has to find a way out of here or she will die. She's made it this far so maybe there is a chance. She decides to check on some of the other files when she finds a note file by a folder. She clicks on it and reads what's written there. She finds a date at the top putting this note at two years ago.
Just in case anyone survives this or if some trespasser finds this place there is a way out. The doors get locked by a security desk on the main floor. Get there and you can unlock the doors. Then you can get out. I'll be leaving a keycard that will allow you into the room. It'll be on the desk. Also they'll likely cover the windows to stop your escape from there. I won't make it to see life outside of here again. They're hunting for me just outside of this room. They'll find me at any moment. I really hope that this will be able to help someone.
Frisk is glad that this is here. "So I can get the doors unlocked at the security room on the main floor. I just need to get there then manage to sneak past whoever is at the main doors. Or convince them to let me past." She closes the note and searches the computer until she finds a map. She just has three more floors then once she's past those she will be on the main floor. She sighs in relief to this. She's getting close to getting out of here. She notices a flight of stairs that goes up and down each floor, though she isn't anywhere near it to try to take it. She checks the entrances to it and realizes that these insane people covered them, since they weren't visible at all in the areas she had been to already. She softy curses to herself at this only to accept that is how it is. She'll just head to the main floor security room and get the doors open. She takes pictures of the map parts with her camera, so that way she can reference it as needed. She grabs the keycard that looks to be the one she needs. She leaves the room and continues forth with that. She goes the direction that she needs to go in. She goes through the door and down to the next level.
