"we've seen plenty of battles folks, kids, friends, neighbors, gym leaders, but how often do you get to see a couple like this, fierce determination in each of their eye, ready to show each other what's what in a 3 on 3 duel."
The reporter is acting like some knock of colosseum announcer trying to set the scene for a climactic battle from the most recent pokémon league event. Misty is standing firm and determined to best ash, she's got a plan in mind, and her winning is gonna make that happen. She knows ash is no slouch though. He's battled all over and if there's anything ash is actually smart about, it's battles.
Gritting her teeth she throws out her first, ash matching pace and sending his as well. Pokéballs land perfectly, a bright flash of light and their choices are revealed.
On ash's side, primape appears, crazy fur erupting all over its body and eyes blazing with anger.
Misty's pokémon pops out revealing starmie, a deep purple star form with a bright gleaming jewel embedded in its middle.
Primeape gets some good strong hits in quickly but not enough to counter starmies psychic power falling while trying to grapple starmie for a submission.
Not one to falter ash withdraws the fainted mon and throws out his second. Pikachu dutifully leaps from beside ash to take an aggressive stance on the battlefield. Starmie makes a strong attempt to wash it away with a targeted water pulse but pikachu dodges expertly catching starmie from below with a powerful volt tackle.
"these trainers are going at it strong! Clearly they've seen some competition. I can't wait to see what's next. One down on each side, let's keep it coming!"
Cursola makes a ghostly appearance quickly using mirror coat and reflecting a thunderbolt back at a very surprised pikachu. Not missing a beat misty follows up with power gem, hitting it's mark expertly while pikachu is attempting to shake off the stun. Pikachu attempts again to strike cursola, this time with a volt tackle this time, but is still a bit slowed by the last hit. Cursola blasts pikachu with a hex moments before he connects causing them to fall to the ground hard, out of the fight.
"I got you buddy!" ash yells and grabs them from the field, holding him close to his chest while throwing out his last.
"Go Goodra!"
"this is it fight fans! A two to one spread is on the table and our young orange haired trainer here looks set to win. Can her battle hardened beau beat her back?!"
Ash leads this time with a vicious dragon pulse, catching cursola off guard. Desperately they try to counter with a heavy icy wind, effective as it is, only lightly grazes goodra as they duck out of the way. closing the gap goodra slams cursola with an iron head taking it out of the fight.
"wow! What a blow! It's anyone's game now! Who's going to be next on the ground!"
Emerging from misty's last ball is azumarill. She knows she's clearly got an advantage here, but she can't discount that goodra can still hit back really hard if given a chance. And even as she thinks this she can see sparks indicating a thunder punch start to appear as goodra moves in on azumarill. Responding as quickly as she can azumarill quickly bounces up and over goodra, causing the punch to go wild while azumarill lays on the charm, weakening goodra significantly.
Goodra tries to counter and throw another punch but azumarill is already up in its face playing rough, knocking goodra's weighty from backwards.
The small gathered crowd cheers as misty jumps excitedly up and down. "I did it, I actually beat you ash!" she cannot even remember the last time she was able to get one over him like this but man did it feel good. The perfect cherry on top of an already very fulfilling day.
"that was amazing misty! Where'd you learn those moves!?" he shouts over the noise. He's actually very impressed, he really can't help but respect a solid trainer during a heated battle.
The reporter sling a few one liners as the pair gather their packs and pokémon after the fight. He barks out a few questions which the two of them awkwardly answer eventually letting them free so they can try to track down another set of victims.
They continue their march through town on the way to the nearest pokécenter so they can turn in for the night. Misty can't stop smiling and occasionally throws a mocking remark at ash about how badly she beat him and he takes it in stride.
Nearing their next goal, the bright lights of the center give them each a comforting feel. Pokécenters are just the best on a trip. Warm and cozy, they care for your injured pocket monsters and allow trainers to rest and eat in rooms they have available.
Just as they reach the door, misty turns to ash saying "I hope you're hungry ash, cause it's dinner time and I'm sure you're going to like what I've got for you."
The doors allow them in and all the while as they're walking up to the counter, ash can't for the life of him figure out what misty means.
