...
The sun was up and so were the titans - well exept for beast boy. He still wasn't there yet even though they all had breakfast, so there wasn't a meat vs. tofu fight this morning. Weird. That's what they all thought even though it was nice to have a calm breakfast without the two titans bickering and fighting over some food being loud and noisy. They were all doing their own thing. Playing video games, taking care of their pet, doing some heroe business or reading a book with some herbal tea. But it was really quite. Too quite. Way too quite. So quite that it was even uncomfortable. Even for Raven. Didn't she wish it to be like that? Well, she didn't expect it to be so bad.
"Shouldn't beast boy be up by now?" Robin finally asked breaking the uncomfortable silence in the room.
"He should it's pretty late already.. Probably playing video games all night." The half robot responded.
"I will talk about that with him.. but we should wake him up.." Robin said. "I'm a little busy right now could anyone wake him up for me?" He showed his papers. He indeed was busy because that stack of paper couldn't finish himself.
"Yeah sure, I'll do it." Cyborg said after losing yet another round from the game getting slowly anoyed.
He stepped down the hallway expecting to hear whispering since he thought that maybe the green changeling was planning on pulling another prank but he heard the same he did in the common room. Pure silence. He was now standing infront of beast boys room. He knocked gently. No reply. Another knock with again no reply, he sighed. "Ayo, Beast boy! Get your lazy butt out of your bed, you missed breakfast!" He yelled but he was again met with silence. He was starting to get frustrated when he again knocked with nothing in reply. "Yo beastie, don't try me, alright? If you don't open this door or reply me in 5 seconds I'm gonna break in and drag you out!" As predicted, no reply.
"1" nothing.
"2" nothing..
" 3" again nothing.
"4.." still waiting..
"5! Alright, don't say I didn't warn ya'.."
and boom.
The door was broken. He stepped inside with loud steps that made beast boy's ears cry.
"Okay, beast boy I tol-" He stopped midway when he found his sweaty, pale friend shaking on the ground looking like he's in pain. "Beast boy?" He knelt down thinking it was a prank first. But when he looked at his sweaty, pale face and heard him cough his lungs out he was convinced that it wasn't. He took his hand and placed it on his head forgetting he is a half robot cursing at himself for being so stupid. He then saw beast boy opening his eyes and was met with the bloodshot eyes now tearing up. "Are you ok- why are you crying?" Cyborg started. "My eyes.. are burn..ing" Cyborg again cursed at himself.
He looked at his friend again and looked around the room and got the his best friend's bed. He took the phone, the air buds and the empty water bottle from the bed to take the blanket. He wrapped the blanket around beast boy.
"Come on, B, let's see what's wrong, alright?" Cyborg asked in a soft tone. He already got ahead of him he regretted he did that though because in the next moment he saw his dear friend trying to stand up and as soon as he did he collapsed harshly on the floor. Atleast they were on the carpet so he wouldn't get a complete concussion. Cyborg's eyes widened as he ran over to pick him by his arms. "Oh no.. B...B wake up!" He tried to shake him a bit and it worked - well not really in a great way. His eyes snapped open as he freed himself from his cyborg friend and ran to the toilet. He also stumbled on the which made his stomach more upset.
There he was, clenching on his sides throwing up the little things he ate. Cyborg decided he should alarm the titans, heck he should've done that way earlier. Already when he was just laying there on the floor looking sickly. "Robin, y'all have to come to his room, beast boy's sick and I mean very sick. Bring some meds, water and a cup, blankets." And not even a minute after they were standing beside cyborg. Starfire was rubbing beast boy's back in circle motion as he still retched every single thing he had eaten for the past few days. He just had to get it all out. The nausea was still there. After a couple of minutes they started to freak out. "He'll get dehydrated! He has to stop!" Robin is freaking out. He has enough to handle with and now this?
"I can't give him anything he will just have to let it all out.." cyborg felt helpless. Soon the room was filled with the smell of pure vomit and his dry retching trying to get everything out. Water, food maybe even his organs, alright? He just wanted it all out. Soon the nausea was gone and replace by dizziness. Before anyone could ask him something he fainted on Starfire.
And now the titans minds raced. Without any commands they did everything. After letting out a short gasp Starfire lifted him up and sped to the med bay carefully. Cyborg followed her as fast as possible. Meanwhile Raven and Robin got all the stuff. Medicines, blankets etc.
While they searched in the carbinets of the restroom they started talking.
"Robin, do...do you think he will be okay?..You know how he is?" Of all Robin didn't expect Raven to say this and with such concern in her voice. He looked at her her for a second before letting a sigh slip his mouth. Beast boy is a person who doesn't get sick a lot but then if he does it is pretty bad. They have to stay with him the whole time to make sure he is okay and also because he is a person who likes to pretend he is fine even when being sick so sometimes he would sneak out the medbay or his room alone. That would then end up with him laying on the floor, shivering. Yep, not a good sight to look at. So he's that kind of sick person. A difficult one. Sneezing, nose blowing and coughing would be heard all over the tower. Not to mention him trying to prove them he is alright and then he would just pass out the second he emerges the room. Refusing to eat and drink and still making all kinds of jokes the way he loses even more energy. Yep, a terrible sick person.
"He will be alright, Raven. It has already happened a few times and I think we kind of learned how he is by now." Robin replied after hardly thinking of what to respond.
"And also he is kind of immune to being in pain, you threw him out the window like 50 times already and he still comes back with no bruises whatsoever." A lie. Sometimes he doesn't even get the chance to transform and he also would get back with bruises cuts and all that but would hide that. Raven didn't think that statement reassuring either. It hurt her actually. Thinking about her hurting him. Raven let out a sigh as answer. She looked worried when Robin looked at her. She noticed that and let her hood cover her face again.
The walk to the medbay was silent.
"Is he alright, what's wrong with him?" Robin asked after arriving at the medbay.
"He's sick.. Beast boy sick... He also seems to be dehydrated, we'll need to hydrate him after he wakes up." Cyborg looks at beast boy again and so do the titans afterwards.
He was now wrapped in two blankets. He was still very pale and his hair was sweaty. Thick sweat bullets we're running down his, pale as snow, forehead. They found themselves asking how long it will take for him to recover this time. Two weeks or maybe four?
Will he be a pain in the butt again for insisting he is fine and will faint after that?
Their thoughts were interrupted by Robin's voice. "So we'll have to have a person stick to him, maybe taking turns would be better, who's going first?" His voice was the only voice filling the room besides a machine next to beast boy beeping.
"I'll go first" Raven. Raven, the person who would throw him out. The person who kept roasting and beating him up. Her? Well the titans didn't give any glances or anything but simply just nodded. "I think it's more effective if I start so I can heal him." She protected herself after noticing how suspicious that sounded. Then everyone left the room except for raven. Before they left cyborg guided her of what she had to do after he woke up.
He turned the machine of and left as well.
There she was. Hearing nothing but silence, even though she was in a room with the most obnoxious and loudest person in the world. She sat down on a chair beside the medbed.
Still an awkward silence filling the room making her hate the vibe right now. She stared into the boy's eyes and the face. The same face she met with the first time he was sick. Remembering those memories made her panic all over again.
The Titans weren't in the tower. They had to fight against yet another criminal. Meanwhile Raven and Beast boy were the only people in the tower. Raven walked down the hallway. Her next destination: her room, after she got herself some herbal tea. But she stopped when she suddenly heard thuds. She shrugged it off shortly before yet another thud was heard this time a louder one. She walked to the sound. "Beast boy?" She yelled while still following the sound. Then she stopped. The hallways decorations were on the floor and so was a particular green boy. She quickly ran to him going on her knees helping him up.
"Beast boy, what's wrong? Didn't I tell you to st-" she was interrupted mid way when beast boy ran to the nearest bathroom and cleared all his insides. All she could do kneel down beside him and rub his back. After a few minutes he still wasn't down and Raven started to get really worried. She took out her communicator. "Raven, what's wrong?" Robin.
"Robin are you guys done?" Raven asked panicked. "Yeah, we kicked there butts, just 'bout to get some pizza, tell that dud-" Cyborg now spoke. "You'll have to decline that this time. Beast boy is throwing up for a long time now. He looks really sick. You guys have to come home as soon as possible." After that she hung up. The titans noticed the panic in her voice.
Meanwhile beast boy was dry ratching and coughing trying to force something out.
Then he started throwing up again. For a moment he stopped and his head wasn't lowered in the toilet that much anymore. Enough for Raven to notice the blood dripping down his mouth. She became alarmed instantly and gasped but beast boy was at it again, throwing up blood. Her breathing became faster. What could she do? She turned on her communicator again and forced the shaky word 'fast' out her mouth. Not the titans were more alarmed as well. Beast boy was still coughing and throwing up blood. When did he stop? Then the titans were finally there. They heard sounds from the bathroom so they went there. Their concerns increased when hearing actual gags and... sobs?
The scene was shocking to say the least. Raven crying while beast boy threw up. Everybody gasped at the scene. Starfire hurried to beast boy rubbing his back. Cyborg just stood there with Robin.
"Raven, what happened?" Robin immediately asked. That's when beast boys head kind of perked up but only Starfire got to see something, she gasped and the others quickly came to exime.
"H-he passed... passed out an-and then t-threw up.. bl-blood" she stated in between sobs. The titans eyes grew wider as they tried to see the blood. Now they saw it. Okay, now they were really concerned.
"How long?" Cyborg asked. Raven just sobbed even more. She wasn't even trying to cover up the fact that she was emotional.
"How long has he been throwing up blood?" Robin asked this time. Raven looked at him and then slowly looked down.
"F-for 4 minutes.." Panic was seen in everyone's eyes. They waited for another minute for him to stop but it continued.
Strange how suddenly minutes past like hours. "He can't stop! Give him something!!" Robin suddenly shouted, beyond out his usual. "I can't give him anything, we don't have medicine! We just... have to let him let it all out.." Cyborg sighed, cursing at the fact that these heroes didn't get any free med supplies from the government. Almost another minutes had passed and the throwing up was slowly fading. Soon the sounds of gagging didn't fill the room as he fainted on Starfire. Everyones face showed relief and with no commands Cyborg lifted him and fast, but gently, brought him to the medbay.
"Alright, we need to see what's wrong with him, Cyborg will check him out while we buy some medicine and food... Raven, you might as well stay here to calm down." She nodded. Starfire and Robin made their way to the stores to buy some stuff a sick person would need while Raven went to her room and meditated.
Why did she panic that much?
By the time she was done she could here things from the medbay.
"-still sick, he will need some time though."
"Friend, how long will it take for him to recover?"
"And why did he throw up blood?"
"He just wasn't getting better that's why and I'm afraid he's going to have to be sick for a longer time.."
"That is horrible! Why did he get so sick like a bundurtard eating a morflort?"
"His immune system is pretty weak since he is part animal and part human he doesn't get sick very often, but when he does he gets seriously sick."
"Friend Raven, are you now in calmness?"
She looked at everyone. Well, she got caught eavesdropping.
"Yeah, I'm fine now, how's beast boy?" She asked immediately. " Well looks like he's better, also, did he walk out his room before.. you know all that happened?" Cyborg asked. Why would he ask that? Wierd...
"Yeah, he walked out his room and bumped into many things before passing out and then that scene happe-" She got interrupted mid sentence.
"God dang it! This is the second time! He said he's fine and then got out his room and almost fall down the stairs even though I told him not to get out of his room! And now he did it again!" Cyborg yelled. Raven couldn't believe that behavior. Insisting you are fine passing out and then doing that again?! Cyborg sighed.
"Looks like green bean needs some sort of babysitter to be with him for the next days." They looked at each other but Raven only looked at beast boy. He still looked horrible. Everyone discussed about the shifts
"I would like to keep an eye on him" she suddenly said making everyone turn. She can not let him do that again. She will not make him do that again. They looked at her with a bit of wide eyes. "Okay, first she cries over him and now she wants t9 be with him?!" Cyborg blurted out. Raven glared at him as a blush made it's way to her cheeks.
"I cried because I didn't know what to do and because I had a bad day and also I just want my shift to be over with!" She spat out her blush looking like anger forming on her face.
"Indeed, I was also on the verge of wetting my eyes when I saw him throwing up the blood." Starfire admitted with sad eyes.
Just then the alarm turned off. Ugh again!?
"Seriously ? Ok so we're going, you'll have to stay, please don't kill him!" Robin said before they all left except for Raven.
Raven got near to beast boy. They didn't have any stairs yet but she didn't need to sit anyways, did she?
As she got closer she looked at beast boy, curled up in a blanket, coated in sweat, pale as a sheet of paper.
But there was more. His face just looked so... fair. So childlike.. His skin was so smooth and fair. So porcelain.
She looked at him one more time before sighing.
"You idiot.."
She looked at his face and suddenly had a complete deja vu. His skin was still smooth for some reason his sweat bullets making their way to slide down his face. He was really pale which made her worry since the green wasn't even that visible anymore.
And his porportions... They were still childlike. She just didn't see the difference from last time, his skin and face structure was the Same except for the fact that his face seemed thinner. His cheeks weren't as plump. Strange.. she had seen his plump cheeks just a few days ago. She just hoped he was going to be alright.
Oh, but he wasn't going to be...
