"And an infestation of droxies has made the spare bedroom quite uninhabitable at the moment, so you'll be sharing Luna's room," Xenophilius stated, looking at Lucius and Luna. Lucius blinked. Sharing a room with his girlfriend was not something he would consider a problem.
"Droxies?"
"They're kind of like pixie beetles and they're venomous," Luna replied. "Come on, I'll show you my old room, I'm sure Daddy kept it exactly how I left it," she said, wrapping her arm around Lucius' and leading him from the entrance of the Rookery. Lucius had only planned to stop by for dinner and then to discretely ask Xenophilius his blessing to marry Luna. However, that plan had shifted to him staying here at least one night when a magical storm had started to move in from the West. Storms like that were rare, this being the first one Lucius had encountered. According to lore, these types of storms caused magic to become unpredictable, often causing witches or wizards who tried to use it injured or worse. Lucius wasn't about to risk himself, or Luna, and had agreed to stay the night until the storm passed.
"And this is my old room," Luna announced, pushing the door open. "It's a bit...well, I haven't had a chance to redecorate since the war, because I was prisoner, and then I was at Hogwarts, and then, I stayed at Hogwarts to rebuild."
"And then stayed there for your seventh year," Lucius stated. Luna nodded, her radish earrings bobbing as she moved her head. Lucius knew they weren't the original pair she'd worn her first day of school, but replicas he'd had made out of resin and powdered pigments. He also had commissioned a set made of gemstones which he planned to give her for her upcoming birthday.
"Right," Luna agreed, looking at the painted ceiling. "It's a shame Harry and Ron can't see you the way I do, I mean, maybe they'll come around?" she asked, frowning a little.
"They have their reasons to dislike me, Luna, and I do understand that while I have changed, not everyone is going to be receptive of that. Miss Weasley has not turned against you, nor Miss Granger?"
"No, they understand, well, Ginny does. I don't know if Hermione actually understands or not, but at least she's willing to try to put the past in the past. I think I have some old clothing you could transfigure into nightclothes if you wished," she said, changing the subject as she opened the dresser.
"Or I could sleep in nothing at all," Lucius suggested, looking at Luna. She giggled slightly, her cheeks reddening.
"You could, but I think I'd be a bit more comfortable in a nightshirt," she stated, sliding her jumper off over her head. "And the mattress shouldn't be too lumpy, I remember it being fairly soft."
Lucius looked at the bed, with its pale yellow quilt on top, at the handful of yellow, bronze and white pillows. It looked like Luna, light and airy. He smiled, wondering what Luna had thought about when she lived here, when she slept here staring up at the ceiling. Luna pulled him from his thoughts by jumping on the bed. The springs squeaked loudly every time she moved. He had a feeling unless one of them was going to be casting a silencing charm, it was unlikely they'd do more than sleep tonight.
"Come on," Luna called, patting the space beside her. Lucius slid off his clothing, leaving his silky green boxers on and laid in the bed next to Luna. It was a tight squeeze, but Luna made it easier by climbing on top of him, her head on his chest. She sighed happily.
"You know, I used to dream about snuggling up to someone, to have someone holding me like you do," she whispered as Lucius wrapped an arm around her waist.
"You did?"
"I did, I never thought it would be possible, seeing how everyone thinks of me as strange."
"You are strange, but that is one of the reasons I fell in love with you," Lucius stated, giving Luna a kiss. She returned it passionately, her hands sliding over Lucius' chest until they reached the waistband of his boxers.
"You know, there was something else I dreamed about doing in this bed when I was younger," she said, her breath hot in Lucius' ear.
"Oh?"
Luna smiled a bit as she reached over and grabbed her wand from the nightstand.
"Silenco!"
The spell rung out, the room falling silent, even the bed springs no longer making a sound. Luna rolled over until she was looking Lucius in the eyes.
"Don't worry, the door's locked and Daddy's not going to interrupt, he does respect my privacy," she added, giving him a wink as the lights dimmed to darkness revealing a glow in the dark painted solar system on the ceiling above them.
