Lucius stared at the black and white photograph. It wasn't more than a blobby shape, nothing that resembled a child. For that moment, he was speechless with surprise, shock, and another emotion he couldn't quite describe. After Draco, he and Narcissa had tried to have more children. It hadn't happened and he figured like all the other men in the Malfoy family, it was one child and done. He had considered himself lucky that Draco had been a male to inherit the family name.

"Lucius?" Luna's voice pulled him from his thoughts.

"It's...I thought..."

"One and done, I know. You think I hadn't heard about the Malfoy family curse? Not that it was ever really said out loud, but, there's always dark little whispers in pure-blood society. Mum never really did realize I understood half the things I shouldn't have," Luna said, putting a hand on Lucius'.

"This is our baby, if everything goes correctly."

"It will. Our child will be alright. The healers only had positive things to say about the baby, who is growing properly. They did a whole slew of tests and Hermione even took me to a muggle doctor."

"Why?" Lucius asked, tearing his eyes from the photograph and looking at his wife.

"Because there are other tests they can run that the wizarding world hasn't heard of, or doesn't know about, or is too backwards to consider?"

"And?"

"They all came back normal. There's nothing wrong with our child, Lucius. That's the reason I waited to tell you, until I was sure."

"I would have been there for you, for the appointments, if I had known," Lucius whispered, stil unable to believe he was going to be a father, again.

"You can come to the next ones, the healers want to see me once a month, just to make sure everything is going well. You're not mad at me for not telling you?" she asked, biting her lip a little and looking up at him with her big blue eyes.

"Luna, I could never be mad at you, not for any length of time. No, I am beyond surprised, this comes as such a shock. Does Draco know yet?"

"No, I figured we could tell him together or you could tell him and at least let me watch the expressions he's going to make," she laughed.

"Thank you, and I will be there for all the appointments," Lucius promised, kissing Luna's hand. She leaned against him, putting her head against his chest as he held her, his mind still reeling from the fact he and Luna were to have a child of their own, but thrilled at the prospect.
