Luna stared at the crystal box in Lucius' hand. They were sitting on one of the many love seats of Malfoy Manor. Lucius had produced the box from somewhere. It sparkled slightly showing the quality of the cut crystal. Luna peered at it, trying to determine what was inside, the crystal obscured the contents other than vague shapes and colors; brown and gold.
"What's that?" she asked. "I didn't know we were exchanging gifts?"
"We're not, I bought this for you. As for it's contents, it's chocolates, some of the finest chocolates from around the world," he answered, opening it to reveal little chocolates gently tucked into golden paper cups. Luna blinked at them.
"But why? Not that I'm complaining."
"Draco," Lucius simply answered as Luna started to examine the chocolates. She could see all different shades of chocolate and most were in fairly simple shapes.
"Draco told you to buy me fancy, expensive chocolates?" Luna asked, picking up one made of dark chocolate shaped like a scallop shell.
"He told me girls like chocolates. And flowers, but I have no idea what kind of flowers you like and there seemed to be an overwhelming amount of different kinds and colors, and they had meanings to them and-"
"You're taking dating advice from Draco?" Luna interrupted before Lucius could continue on about the flowers. She preferred simple flowers, daisies were her favorite.
"It has been a long time since I pursued a witch," Lucius muttered. "And Narcissa, well, that was a guaranteed thing, arranged, you know. She couldn't really say no to me, so I didn't put much effort into actually courting her."
"So you asked Draco how to court me? Why Draco?"
"Because he's managed to get the Weasley girl to fall in love with him. If he could get her after all that happened, I figured he'd have some good ideas. I told him I was interested in dating and that I had a witch I was quite fond of," Lucius stated. Luna let out a soft laugh.
"Quite fond of? Is that what you call the witch you're shagging in a different bedroom every night?" she asked, watching a faint bit of pink spread across Lucius' face. They'd not actually put a name to their relationship, although it did seem Lucius wanted to do just that. Luna didn't mind, she'd wondered if he would at some point.
"I was brought up with some sense of decorum."
"And Draco has no idea who you're interested in?"
"He does not, I did not think it prudent to tell him I'm dating one of his former schoolmates. I do not think he would understand. So, does this mean you don't like the chocolates?" he asked, looking at Luna. She shook her head.
"I love them, but it's a bit over the top. A bag of ice mice from Honeydukes would have worked just as well. Did Draco tell you the second part of giving a girl a box of chocolates?"
"No. There's a second part?"
"You get to help me eat them," Luna exclaimed, picking a chocolate at random and popping it in Lucius' mouth.
"Hmm, raspberry crème," he said, chewing slowly. Luna smiled, taking a bite of the shell shaped one.
"Sea salt," she stated, offering Lucius the other half, which he happily accepted. Maybe Draco's advice hadn't been so bad after all?
