"Eeek!" Pandora screamed, diving under the viridian green blankets of the king sized bed. Lucius stirred, pulling the silky green eye mask down and looked at the lump in the blankets. Luna was still soundly sleeping.

"Pandora?"

"There's something scary outside!" Pandora shrieked.

"It's just the storm," Lucius stated. He could hear the thunder rolling and the sound of the heavy rain hitting the sides of the manor house. Normally, he just put a silencing charm up to keep from hearing it,but Luna liked the sound of rain, so he didn't for her.

"What's going on?" Luna asked, lifting her head from her pillow. Lucius couldn't help but smile at how beautiful her blond hair was against the dark green of the pillowcase. It looked like spun gold.

"Pandora says there's something scary outside. It is most likely just the rain," Lucius answered.

"Guess we should go see then, shouldn't we?" she asked, pulling off the blanket. Lucius sighed, but did the same. The idea of getting up in what appeared to be the middle of the night was not something he'd been accustomed to, but now, he would do anything for Luna and their Pandora.

"Which part of the outside?" Luna asked.

"By the big window in my room," Pandora answered, poking her nose out from under the blanket. "It's really scary!"

"Your dad and I are going to go see, do you want to come with or stay here?"

"Stay!" Pandora exclaimed, pulling her head back under the blankets. Lucius could almost see her wearing robes lined with the viridian green, robes with a Slytherin badge pinned to them. He was fairly certain Pandora would not be placed in Gryffindor.

"If you'd like, we'll be right back," Luna assured the child as she and Lucius started walking to the door of the master bedroom. Within seconds, Pandora was wrapped around Lucius' ankle, wrinkling the silken pyjama pants he was wearing.

"Changed my mind," she said, glancing around as if whatever was outside was going to attack her at any minute.

"Let's see what we've got then," Luna said, leading the way down the hall to Pandora's room. She pushed the half open door open and stepped inside. She could see the rain hitting the window, the sky lighting up with lightning followed by a loud clap of thunder that sent Pandora scrambling under her bed. Lucius sat down on Pandora's bed.

"We're right here, Pandi, nothing's going to get you," he promised.

"Really?"

"Really, now, you said it was at the window?"

"Yes!"

Luna crossed the room and peered out the window. It was completely dark out, save for a flash of lightning here and there. She pulled her wand from the pocket of her nightgown and lit up the area outside the window.

"Let's see, I see a large tree branch that's almost touching the window. We can have that trimmed tomorrow. Is that what you saw, the tree branch? It does hit the window when the wind blows, making a scratching sound," Luna said.

"No! It wasn't a scratching sound! It was a pair of glowing eyes," Pandora explained, poking her head out from under the bed. She was holding a single sock in her left hand. Lucius was fairly certain the match for the sock had gone through the laundry the day before.

"Glowing eyes?" Luna asked, glancing at Lucius. He shrugged.

"The peacocks wouldn't have glowing eyes."

The lightning flashed again and this time, Luna saw something move out of the corner of her eye, something that wasn't just the wind.

"I'm going to put up a shield charm to keep from getting wet. She's right. There's something out there, whatever it is, it must have climbed up this branch," Luna said. Pandora had wrapped herself around Lucius and was watching her mum with wide eyes. Luna did as she said, putting up a shield charm to protect herself and the room from the rain. She leaned out the window, a sticking charm keeping her from falling.

"Almost, almost, got you!" she exclaimed, pulling herself back inside.

"What is it? A monster?" Pandora asked, peering at the shivering wet thing in Luna's arms.

"Not a monster, just a kitten," Luna answered, setting the creature down on the floor. The tiny black kitten sat there for a moment, shook itself a bit, and then spread a large pair of bat shaped wings.

"Not a kitten," Lucius muttered.

"I'm gonna name it Stormy!" Pandora exclaimed, reaching out and petting Stormy. "Can I keep him, please?"

"If your father says yes," Luna answered, giving Lucius a smile.

"Make the bad guy why don't you," he muttered.

"Please!"

"Alright, he can stay, but you're going to have to take care of him, Pandora."

"I will! Thank you, Daddy!" Pandora screamed, throwing her arms around Lucius and hugging him while Stormy jumped on the bed and started cleaning himself.
