This is it. The dare to end all dares. She's going to do it. She is. And she's not going to back out of it… this time. The punishment when she didn't do it last time was bad enough, she does NOT want to go through THAT again. Peering around the corner, she looked and saw, there he was. Leaning against the wall, next to the window. Head bowed toward the earth, as though in silent prayer as he read his book. Green tie, pulled out of its knot to lie on either side of his neck. He looked like he was waiting for someone.
She began to edge out of her hiding place, when he shifted and looked up. Jerking back, she plastered herself to the wall, waiting for the hammering in her ears to stop. Sliding towards the door just a few feet away, her back pressed to the ruff stone wall, she chickened out.
Slipping into the unused classroom, seventh year Sarah Armour came face to face with her very irate best friend. Lauren pulled out her wand and cast a privacy spell on the door, then turned to her best friend who was looking anywhere but at her.
"Well? How did it go?"
"Hm? How did what go?"
"Sarah!" The brunette threw her hands up into the air. "We talked about this! You promised!"
"I know, I know! I panicked!" Sarah said, trying to defend herself from her irritated Ravenclaw best friend.
"You panicked? Sarah you're a Gryffindor! Where's your Gryffindor courage?"
Sarah mumbled something, too low for the other girl to hear.
"What was that? You're going to have to speak up."
"It's hiding behind the Hufflepuff." Sarah said, a little more loudly.
Sighing, Lauren placed her hands on Sarah's shoulders.
"Sarah, look at me." Lauren waited until her friend had lifted her head and looked her in the eyes. "Sarah, I love you, I do, but you really need to stop being a cowardly lion. I told you I would help you with this dare, and I have. All you need to do now, is to actually do it."
"You're the one who dared me to do this." Sarah pointed out.
"Would you have done anything about it, if I hadn't?"
"Maybe…"
"I rest my case." Lauren gets behind Sarah and gives her a shove, "Now go. And no chickening out this time."
Sarah gives a halfhearted glare over her shoulder, before slipping back out of the classroom. Back pressed against the wall, she peaked around the corner again. He was still there. He was leaning against the window sill, looking out onto the dark cloudy sky.
With her wand in hand, Sarah stepped around the corner and into the corridor before she could psyc herself out.
"Stupify." Sarah cast.
"Protego!" the tall dark haired Slytherin said, whipping around at the first utterance of her spell.
"Expelliarmus!"
"Petrificus Totalus!"
Sarah bodily throws herself to the side to avoid being hit.
"Accio wand."
Sarah hangs onto her wand for dear life, as it drags her towards the Slytherin. Until finally his magic gave one more tug, and Sarah came crashing against his chest. His arms wrapped around her waist, while her's were trapped against his chest in an awkward t-rex pose. Her wand still clutched in her hands. They both took a moment to catch their breath, from their impromptu duel.
"Hi there." Sarah stared up at him for a moment. Did Liam Knight, from Slytherin house, Mr. Tall, Dark and Mysterious himself just say, 'Hi there'? He must have. She would pinch herself if she could. Just when the moment started to drag on, Sarah realized that she hadn't said anything. So she said the first thing that came to her mind.
"Hi. Wanna help me trash Umbridge's office?"
Around the corner Lauren's mouth dropped. She couldn't believe that her friend had just said that.
"Happily. Then wanna come for a drink in the Leaky Cauldron?" Liam asked, a grin pulling at the corners of his mouth.
"You had me at 'happily'."
"You had me at Stupefy. So want me to blow the door off and then we can trash the rest?"
"Lead the way."
Two floors down, they stood just outside of Umbridge's office.
"Ready to trash Umbridge's office?" Liam asked
"I call messing with the cat pictures." Sarah said.
"I call burning the torture quills. She hurt me with those. I'm gonna make sure she never hurts anyone with those ever again." Liam says darkly.
"We'll get her back for all the pain she's caused." Sarah said in complete agreement, and understanding.
"Starting with her door." Liam raised his wand, blasting curse on the tip of his tongue, when Sarah stopped him.
"What?"
"Just a second." Sarah placed a few wards and spells on either end of the corridor, to keep unwanted visitors out. "Okay, now we're ready."
Liam gave her a nod in thanks, then turned back to the door. The explosion that followed was so loud it could have woken the mer-people. Lowering their hands from their ears, even though they had placed protective spells on them, they looked at the door that was not.
"Ladies first." Liam gave a sweeping motion, and gestured toward the office.
"Thank you." She said, and walked into the office. Sarah looked around the room in contemplation, humming and tapping her chin as she thought.
"What do you think about 'piss yellow' for the new wall color?" She asked, looking at the bright pink walls that offend the eyes.
"Sounds like a plan." Liam then proceeded to unzip his pants and pull out his dick, and peed all over the walls.
Sarah, blushing, got distracted…
"This color yellow?" Asked Liam. Sarah didn't answer.
"Accio Sarah." Liam wanted his hand in front of her face to get her attention.
"Hm?" Sarah finally zoned back into the task at hand. "It's a start. Maybe a little higher up on the walls?"
Liam turned around, and Sarah couldn't see from where she stood, but it was obvious that he *clears throat* did something to allow him to reach higher up on the walls.
'Just how long has he been holding it for?' Sarah couldn't help but ask herself.
"This high enough?"
"Oh yeah." Sarah said. She then summoned a couple of buckets, filled to the brim and put them between the two of them. "And now to really set off the new wall color, vomit green."
"Dare I ask where you got that from?" Liam asked cautiously, looking down at the buckets and then back up at her.
"The infirmary." Sarah said simply. She then handed him a bucket. "Here you go."
Liam took the bucket offered to him and said, "Yeah, and what about a box of Fred and George Weasley's fudge for her?"
"Oh, I like how you think. Let's mix it with some of the fudge into her private candie box." Sarah said, a devious grin beginning to stretch across her face.
"Sounds like a plan, but what about a few burn marks?"
Sarah turned to inspect the walls and furniture. With her wand in hand, she cast a few well placed cutting curses and Incendios to make it look like scorched claw marks. "Do you think that this is okay, or is it a bit much?"
"It's perfect." Liam chuckled. "Anyway, I wanted a word with you."
Sarah turned to her companion, "Yeah? What's up?"
"Wanna go out with me?"
Sarah was taken aback for a moment. Snapping out of it before he got the wrong idea, she smiled up at him, "If the dates are this much fun, then definitely."
"Well, how about we go mix up the ingredients in Snape's lab afterwards?"
"Think we can get away with blaming it on Crabbe and Goyle?"
"Of course. And if we don't, it's on Malfoy and Parkinson."
Sarah's smile grew, "Oh, I knew I liked you."
"I knew I liked you when I first set my eyes on you."
Sarah's blush returned. This time a shade or two darker.
Clearing her throat, Sarah got back to the matter at hand, "You know, Fred and George are going to take this," she gestures to the ruined office. "As a challenge, right?"
"Yeah, I know. And we are gonna keep challenging them."
On their way out of the office after spreading the new "paint" on the walls and furniture, Sarah stopped. "Oh, I almost forgot."
She quickly turned back around, and waved her wand in a series of complicated movements, and muttered a long string of words. When she was finished, she nodded in satisfaction, and turned back to her partner in crime.
"What was that?" Liam asked.
"Old family spell." she explained, "The cats in all of the pictures in this room, will one by one, turn into horrible monstrous looking cat creatures. Even if she were to replace the pictures and saucers, the curse would just spread to those as well."
"Yep," Liam said, a smile lighting upon his lips, and reaching to his eyes. "I love this."
Sarah stepped closer to Liam, and linked her arm with his. "Now, you said something about drinks at the Leaky Cauldron? Or do you first want to go mess with Snape's ingredients?"
Liam thought about it for a moment, before coming to a decision. "Leaky Cauldron."
"Probably a good idea. We can go have drinks, and avoid the initial blow up. Two birds with one stone. Besides, there's always tomorrow."
"Yeah. Wanna come back to my room after?"
"Good sir," Sarah said, as posh as she could. "It will take more than ruining Umbridge's day, and a few drinks, to get me into your room."
"I was on about to play chess, but if that's a no then don't worry."
"Ah. So you're all about the long game. Well if it's Wizards chess you want to play, prepare to lose."
"Well, clearly short game doesn't work. And you're gonna lose princess."
"Uh Huh. If you say so."
Liam leaned down, and pressed a kiss to Sarah's cheek. "I know so."
Fighting down the blush once again, she got an idea. Smirking, Sarah turned to Liam. "Let's make this a little more interesting."
"What did you have in mind?" Liam leaned into her a little more. Intrigued to hear what she had come up with.
"If I win," Sarah said slowly, looking up at Liam from beneath her eyelashes. "You have to help me dose Dumbledore's candy dish with a love potion so that he falls in love with the next person he sees."
Liam snorted out a laugh, and put his head on her shoulder, and just laughed for a couple minutes. Sarah, jolted by Liam's shaking, and tickled by his laughs against her neck, couldn't help it and started laughing herself. Once he had composed himself, he pulled away and said, "You're so on. If I win, you have to back me up, when I challenge Malfoy to a duel."
"Gladly."
"So, the Leaky Cauldron?"
"Onward." Sarah said, while dramatically pointing down the hall.
"You're such a goofball." Liam snickered.
Sarah gasped, and with a hand over her heart said, "Thank you. I've worked so hard at it. I'm so glad you've noticed."
Liam chuckled, and while looking down at her fondly, he said, "I love you."
Immediately after he turned bright pink. Liam hadn't meant for that to slip out. Coughing to try to cover his slip, he started to turn away. Only to be stopped by a hand on his arm. He stared down at Sarah's hand. Just as he was coming to some kind of decision. He felt a soft kiss pressed against his cheek. Looking up from his shoes, Liam was shocked to say the least, to see her blushing softly as she looked up at him.
"I love you too." It was barely a whisper, but Liam heard it all the same.
This he did not expect, what with Slytherin's reputation.
As they walked away, just as they were turning the corner, Sarah pulled down the wards she had put up. They then walked down to Hogsmeade, arm in arm. Happy in each other's company.
Little did they know that Harry, under his invisibility cloak, saw and heard the whole thing. He made the long, slow walk back to Gryffindor Tower, too distracted to really enjoy Hogsmeade that day. Too much on his mind.
In the end, he resolved to never, piss either of them off. That it would be best all around to just stay out of their way. Maybe ask Ron and Hermione about the strange courting ritual.
