Several days later, after much planning and talking to other citizens, Taffyta was having another public appearance with Gabriel, this time with Moff Raythe by her side. With his help, he got the citizens' attention.
"We imperials may be seen as villains, but not all villains are bad. We are merely misunderstood. Order, strength, unity, peace, these are things we want. Vote for my candidate for mayor, with support of the empire, we will make this city safe, we promise work for anyone who wants work. Amazing new technologies your rulers have yet to introduce" said Raythe
The crowd cheered as Raythe stepped off the stage with Taffyta behind him. Taffyta gave out buttons to passerby as she followed Raythe to a nearby shuttle. Gabriel looked concerned.
"It takes more than promises from a bully to be a good candidate" he told Vanellope who stood near him
"Not to worry, the citizens will come around. Just keep working on your speeches. I'm still going over your proposals for more farmland, but consider it approved. The city can use more farmland for food" said Vanellope
"Thank you your majesty" said Gabriel
On the shuttle, Taffyta, Candlehead, and Moff Raythe shared a few drinks with each other.
"That went really well" said Candlehead
"I'll be mayor in no time" said Taffyta
"Now onto business. To bring peace we will need to expand our military. I can offer jobs to the people. I'm proposing a factory where we build these"
Raythe brought up a hologram of a spaceship with solar panel wings and a circular cockpit
"The Sienar Fleet Systems TIE fighter. Cheap, easy to fly, easy to produce, think about it. We will keep our district safe from those who wish to bring harm. General Grievous is still out there, he tried to make us kill you all. But should he come back, we can stop him" said Raythe
"I don't know, Vanellope will never approve of this" said Candlehead
"Once this factory is up and people hear of its benefits, no one will care what she thinks" said Raythe "I can have it built by tomorrow, whether she gives permission or not" said Raythe
"I do have to ask for permission to build anything. But if you truly know how to operate the building mechanics of this game, have it ready" said Taffyta
(Vanellopes castle)
"No, absolutely not" said Vanellope as she played with her babies on the floor
"Vanellope, with this factory, it'll bring work and protection for the city" said Taffyta
"I don't care. We don't need a tie factory. The city hasn't been threatened since the invasion. That was 3 years ago. Our home is safe with the protection we have" said Vanellope
"What about that killer robot that tried to kill your daughter? Or did you forget about that too?" Taffyta rudely asked
"That was a private matter. And the imperials couldn't protect my daughter with their weapons. Only Ralph saved Lucy's life, and a weird battle droid" said Vanellope "You can argue all you want, I refuse to allow it. We're more than safe with what we have already"
Taffyta kicked over a pile of blocks before storming out. She pulled out a holo device and contacted Raythe.
"Vanellope refused our request. She doesn't trust you" said Taffyta
"Of course she doesn't. This'll come to both our advantage. I already have an entire block willing to work. When our factory opens tomorrow, and our queen denounces it, your approval will only grow" said Raythe "Together you and I will bring everlasting peace"
"And I will be in charge. And better yet, more popular than Vanellope" said Taffyta
(The next day)
On an empty plot of land in the city farmlands, the tie fighter factory was built overnight and ready to open. A bunch of workers stood outside in orange jumpsuits, ready to work. All Taffyta needed to do was cut the ribbon. A crowd stood outside the factory to celebrate the opening
"The queen is on her way sir" a stormtrooper told the 2
"Good. It'll be nice to watch her embarrass herself" said Taffyta
Taffyta approached the doors and faced the crowd
"I promised jobs didn't I? Under my leadership, our economy will grow and your children will sleep safe knowing the imperials are watching the skies, defending us from invasions. After all, we don't want the evil droids coming back do we?" Taffyta asked
Taffyta was given a large pair of scissors.
"Without further ado, I declare this factory-
"TAFFYTA! What is going on here?"
Taffyta turned to see not Vanellope, but Rancis with his baby daughter Lucy in a baby carriage.
"Rancis, surprised to see you here" Taffyta told him
"Vanellopes busy with Kevin, he came down with something, so I'm here instead" said Rancis
"With a baby girl who will possibly doom us all?" Taffyta asked
"Oh so I can't go on a walk with my child? And how dare you say that about Lucy. We can talk about that later. I was walking when I noticed this building, which we didn't allow to be built. As of now I'm ordering this building to be closed and destroyed" said Rancis
This didn't sit well with the crowd. The workers started yelling at him.
"I need this job, I got a family to feed"
"This'll help keep us safe"
"What kind of king are you? Denying your citizens jobs"
The crowd began throwing dirt and other small objects at Rancis
"Time to go, Lucy"
"Let's get him" someone shouted
Taffyta wasn't expecting this to happen, and she could only watch as her friend was being attacked. Had it been Vanellope she wouldn't have minded, but Rancis, he was still a friend. And while she thought his dreams were stupid, she didn't want him treated like this. She watched in horror as he was punched to the ground, and Lucy's baby carriage was pushed over too with her in it, hard, her cries could be heard despite how far she was from them. Rancis scrambled to shield his daughter from attacks.
The stormtroopers with Taffyta did nothing, Rancis wasn't worth protecting to them right now, taffytas safety was their only priority. Suddenly a car drove up and Calhoun stepped out of the passenger seat firing a gun in the air.
"STAY AWAY FROM MY SON!" She shouted
She and Felix stepped out of the car and pulled Rancis and a crying Lucy inside to safety. Calhoun and Felix looked at her with disappointment. Upon driving away, the crowd cheered. Taffyta regained her senses and opened up the factory to the roar of applause. As the workers stepped inside and the crowd celebrated, she walked to the remains of Lucy's baby carriage. The little pink carriage was almost crushed and dirtied, and on the ground was a little pink baby blanket.
"Everything ok madam?" A trooper asked her
"I may not care much for Lucy, but she's just a baby. Why didn't you guys protect her and Rancis? He's one of my friends"
"Our number 1 priority was keeping you safe, no one else" said the captain
"You guys can go, I need a minute" said Taffyta
The troopers walked away while Taffyta picked up the little blanket off the dirt. The least she could do was get it washed and returned. But she didn't know how she could face her parents after what just happened.
"That wasn't right you know. Going behind Vanellope and Rancis' backs like that" Candlehead told her
Taffyta turned to face her
"I'll do what I have to to win" said Taffyta
"And it involves hurting babies? She's not even a year old" said Candlehead
"I didn't want that to happen. They shouldn't have been here" said Taffyta
Candlehead turned and walked away without another word.
