Star very reluctantly followed us to the cave. I glanced at Michael every so often and I could see that he had lost any feelings for her. Probably after seeing how she had teamed up with Max to kill this small coven.

By the time we walked into the cave, Laddie had fallen into a deep sleep on my shoulder and clinging to my jacket. Holding him tightly to my body, I walked over to his bed in the far corner and laid him down and covering him with a light blanket and putting one of his plush toys in his arms. I smiled lightly as he sighed softly and turned over to cuddle more into the bed.

I turned around and David was back in his 'throne' and Mike was sitting next to him again. Marko and Sam were near the fountain, both quiet but observing the room. Star was chewing on her thumbnail as Dwayne and Paul stood behind her on either side of her. Dwayne's eyes were clued onto her as Paul's mouth kept twitching in a small malicious grin. David's eyes were also narrowed in on her. While Mike was looking to me with a small head tilt.

I kept a straight face as I took long, deliberate steps over to Star to stand in front of her. Star tried to take a step back with her eyes widening in fear, but Dwayne put a hand on her shoulder to keep her still.

With a small sneer, my hand snapped out and grasped her neck firmly and pulled her to me. My lip twitched in repressed rage as I examined her face.

She gave out strangled sounds as her hands came up to grab at my hand and wrist in vain.

"People like you get on my nerves. While I get it, you didn't want to be a vampire that doesn't excuse your plans to kill off a whole coven of them." I started, with no time to let her explain.

My eyes dilated as I compelled her, while loosening my grip. "What was your plan with Max?"

Her eyes unfocused as the words started to spew from her mouth. "Max is going to help me with getting rid of David, Dwayne, Marko and Paul so that I could be free with Laddie. He was going to turn your mother and then I could be with Michael without the interference of the boys."

I became pissed and grabbed the nap of her neck and proceeded to lead her out of the cave and to the top of the point. "Sam, stay with Laddie!" I called back as the other boys followed us out.

"Aw man!" I heard Sam softly sigh as we left.

I threw her forward and she stumbled a few steps before catching herself. Finally she broke as she realized we were circling her.

Letting out an aggravated cry, she started yelling. "It's not fair! How were we supposed to know that there were other species of vampires out there! Max will fix this; he will kill all of you!" She started to nervously ramble as she pointed at all of us, taking steps back.

"Max is dead." I said as I put my hands in my pockets, taking a step forward with the boys.

She paused in horror and started to gap like a fish. Tears started to gather in her eyes before falling down her cheeks. "You motherfuckers! He was my ticket out! He was going to kill David and I would have been free!" Sobs started to fall from her lips as she took more frightened steps back...

We said nothing as we watched her rant and rave, taking steps backwards... Not noticing she was getting closer...

And closer...

Closer...

"All of the bullshit I went through for nothing! All of you are monsters and have no humility! No sense of humanity! I don't deserve this!" She pointed at her chest. "I'm a good person! I took care of that brat-!" She was cut off as I sped to stand in front of her with barely a centimeter between us.

She gave a sharp gasp of breath as I glared into her eyes. "We aren't monsters... You are."

She opened her mouth to say something else, but I proceeded to push her off the edge of the cliff. She flung off the edge of Hudson's Bluff with a sharp scream.

The boys joined me in watching as she fell with no remorse, and we waited to hear the moment she hit the sharp rocks at the bottom.

I sighed in relief the second we heard her hit some of the rocks and then we didn't hear a heartbeat either. The boys then relaxed from their tense forms.

I felt an arm go around my shoulders, making me look over to see Paul standing there. "You know... you have been the best thing to come to Santa Carla."

I shook my head and chuckled with him, and the other boys joined us.

"I have a feeling that, this is only the beginning." I said with a small grin before turning to head back inside the cave.

Around an hour later, my brothers and I headed back to our house where we met up with mom and Grandpa. Mom was sitting on the couch, curled up with her current book and Grandpa was in his taxidermy room. Mom looked up and gave a soft smile. "Hey, guys. How was your night?"

I shared a look with the boys and then gave a small guilty grin. "Well... Max won't be a problem... Turns out he was on a kill on site hit for his government" I told her as I flopped down onto the couch next to her.

Her eyebrows frowned as she looked from me to my brothers who sat on the other couch. "What? I just had that date with him a couple of hours ago!"

"I know! I know!" I told her while putting my hand on her shoulder to calm her down. "We and the other boys took care of it. He had been killing all his other coven members if they didn't turn out how he wanted them to. He had been doing this for centuries. I'm sorry, mom." I told her with a soft tone.

She gave a big sigh and then put her hand to her cheeks. "Oh, dear... That's so terrible... all those other vampires probably didn't deserve to be treated like that." She frowned in sadness as she felt for those other vampires that probably didn't stay alive long enough to even reach their full potential, which I also felt that crushing remorse for those that didn't make it.

As a vampire, you would think you would get use to death. But sometimes you don't. Especially to those that were probably so innocent and didn't deserve to die like that.

I end up wrapping my arms around my mom and pulling her to me, to comfort her. The remorse and empathy are deeper with someone like my mom. She is such a kind and thoughtful person that the empathy just comes naturally to her. I rub her upper arm as she sighs sadly and wraps her arms around me as well.

I looked over and saw Mike and Sam watching us with soft expressions on their faces. Glancing over their head, I saw Grandpa also leaning against the doorway watching us.
