It took about five minutes before the boys were satisfied with their work. The four boys stood, calming down from the small fight that Max gave and covered in his blood as they stared at his remains. Out of all of them, I could see and almost feel the rage pouring from David. My face fell into a blank slate as I watched them, feeling my heart constrict for how they must be feeling. David most of all.
Just then a dog came from around the corner and into the living room. I turned to look as the dog panted and took in the scene in front of him. After a moment of realizing that his master was now gone, he whined softly. I stood and walked over to the dog to put my hand out for him to sniff. Ignoring the looks it gained me. My face softened as the dog sniffed my hand and then licked my palm, then leaning his head into my hand.
I turned my head and looked at the boys. David was looking at me with a raised eyebrow while Mikey had thrown his head back with soft groan. Sam had a huge grin on his face, Marko and Paul just looked confused and Dwayne's face was blank as he still looked down at Max's remains.
"His name is Thorn..." David broke the silence as he walked over to a wall where a small bar stood against it. He took a rag and wiped some of the blood off his face and glove covered hands.
I smirked and looked back at Thorn as he moved to sit at my side. "Hello, Thorn." I whispered to him.
I turned back to the room and examined the Frog brothers, pursing my lips in thought. "Sam, want to help me with these two."
With a soft whooshing sound, Sam was up and next to me as we walked over to the two.
"What are you going to do?" I heard from behind me from Dwayne. I looked over my shoulder and smiled softly.
"We are just going to compel them to forget vampires and all they learned from Max. They're just kids. They deserve to be kids." I said before turning to the two boys. Then proceeded to compel them. "You will forget all about vampires, Max never confronted you about vampires and you don't know anything about them except for what media gives you. You will go back to your normal lives and help each other out."
Sam tells the other brother something along the same lines as what I said. I turned to Mikey, "You and Sam get them back home. Then come back here. We have some cleaning to do."
Michael's face turns serious as he nods, turning and speeding off with Sam to run the Frog brothers back to their home.
I turned back to see that the other four were slowly cleaning their faces but mostly just half-assing it. I snorted and walked over to lounge on the couch. I leaned back and crossed my leg over the other.
David couldn't keep his eyes off me and I locked eyes with him before raising an eyebrow.
"How did you know... about the Frogs?" He asked as he crossed his arms and tilted his head curiously.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. "Mostly cause of the fact that they kept pestering me and Sam every time that Sam and I went into their comic books shop. The first night we meet them they brought up vampires and I grew suspicious. I was thinking that maybe they were hunters, but then I thought they were too young. Then again, some hunters are young when exposed to vampires. Maybe their family was killed by one but then I found out they had their parents still around and they work in a comic book shop." I frowned and shook my head. "Their parents are just druggies that let their kids get away with shit they don't need to be getting into. Max took advantage of them, made them think that they were strong chosen boys to be new hunters." I sneered, "That's not how becoming a hunter works. You either witness some type of trauma with the supernatural or you grow up in the life. I would know... I have a few hunter friends."
Paul looked at me incredulously. The other three all looked at me with disbelief. "Friends?! With hunters?"
I sigh and pinch the bridge of my nose. "You must realize that we don't feed like you. Most of the time we either feed from blood bags, or we hunt people that are the bad type of people; i.e., murderers, rapists and so on... or we do the whole catch and release type of feeding. Cause we are discreet." I raised my eyebrows as I emphasized discreet. I looked from each boy to the next. "We don't like to be hunted and we are also not evil... I don't know how it is with you but with us... everything is heighted. All that we feel, when we're happy it's like we are ecstatic... when we are sad, it's like we're depressed to the point of killing ourselves. The humanity is there, and it exists... Although there are some of us that turn off the ability to feel but I've tried not to go there." I looked down and played with a hole in my jeans as I frowned. By then, Michael and Sam had made it back and stood at my sides. "I don't like killing unnecessary... and it doesn't bother me when others do it, but I can't."
I take in a deep breath and shake my head. "So, most of the hunters I make friends with understand that. They understand that not all supernatural are monsters." I sighed and stood up. Slapping my thighs, I looked to Mike. "Let's get some gas or lighter fluid... I'll get set up the stove and other gas lines. It shouldn't take long." I looked over at the four boys. "If you want to wait outside before we leave. It'll be lit up before long."
David, getting what I was saying, nodded and tilted his head to his boys to head out the door as my brothers and I set up the house to catch fire.
After about ten minutes, we were all standing a little bit away from the house with the bikes and my car. It was silent as we watched the flames lick the air over the house. Thorn now sitting obediently at my side. Waves of heat wafted over us as a bright orange colored the sky and area.
"Thank you."
I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw that David was standing at my side, also watching the flames in front of us. His whisper was barely heard over the roars of the fires.
"You're welcome... You boys didn't deserve a maker like him. He was a disgrace to vampires... of any species." I spoke softly as I watched him out of the corner of my eye.
A small grin graced his features, and he tilted his head down. "He was, wasn't he... He always would say we were family but never acted like it... but I thought it was normal for makers to act like that." He paused and took in a deep breath. "But I see that I was wrong..." He turned his head to look at me with a soft look on my face. I turned my head to meet his gaze and smiled back at him.
A brief silence fell over us. "I think this is a start to a great friendship, David..." I grinned as his features brightened before I frowned as a thought came to mind. "Although... there is the matter of Star. What do you want to do with her?" I asked him as I turned my body to face him all the way. My hands in my jacket pocket. He moved to face me as well, also with his hands in his pockets and we stood a foot apart from each other.
"To be honest..." He heaved a sigh, tilting his head. "You can deal with her. The only reason we kept her around was to take care of Laddie... but he's grown attached to you."
I raised an eyebrow. "Are you sure?" He nodded finally.
"We never really connected... and she never wanted to be one of us. She also denied feeding for close to a year now. Always scared... angry. Plus, she betrayed us with Max."
I nodded. "Alright. I'll take care of it myself then. For now, let's head back before the Fire Department gets here. Laddie and Star have probably felt the change by now."
His brow frowned. "Change?"
I nodded. "Yeah, when a Sire dies, the vampires that have his blood in their system that haven't fully changed into a vampire will change back into full humans. Star and Laddie are back to being full humans now."
David raised an eyebrow for a moment and then shrugs. "Alright, let's get back then."
Both of us turned and headed to the car and bikes with our boys following behind us.
The drive back was quiet but comfortable. The four boys rode in front of us, speeding way ahead as I just kept the speed limit. I'm assuming they were heading back to the cave to change.
We reached the Boardwalk and the humans roamed around like normal.
Parking, we met up with the David and the boys by one of the walkways where they parked near one of the rides.
Looking around, I felt one of the other boys come up beside me. From the calm footsteps, it was either David or Dwayne. "I'm going to look for Laddie... I don't wanna know what Star has up her sleeve." I turned my head and saw that Dwayne came to stand next to me.
He nodded. "I'll come with you. I don't want him hurt." We both looked over at the group behind us.
"We'll split up and look around." David agreed and set to walk with Michael as Sam went with the other two.
"Alright, be careful. Let me know if you find them." I told Michael and Sam. Sam gave a hyper grin as Marko put on of his arms around his shoulders with a matching grin. Paul put an 'okay' hand signal up to me as he looked around.
Mikey nodded at me with a small smile. I smiled back at him and sent him a comforting brush through our mind link that we shared as family. His smile widened a little as I turned around and walked off with Dwayne.
We walked in a comfortable silence for about 10 minutes, before we stopped somewhere near an arcade, and we looked inside the crowded area.
"Farah!" Suddenly, I felt a small body mass hit my lower body, arms wrapping around my waist and a face buried in my stomach.
Letting out a small 'oof!' from Laddie slamming into me, I let out a laugh and gripped him back in tight hug before reaching down to pick him up. He clung to my neck and buried his face into my neck. "Hello there, love. Where have you been?" I coo to him as I rubbed his back as I now noticed that he seemed a little distressed.
"I felt this-this feeling all over and-and-and so did Star and she didn't look good. Then she told me we had to leave and gra-grabbed my arm and tried to pull me away from the boardwalk! She said that we couldn't stay here no more. I don't wanna leave! So, I ran to find you guys and then hid in-in-in here and then I saw you and Dwayne." He spoke fast and stuttered every now and then and sniffles poured from him as I locked eyes with Dwayne. His face locked into a stern and angry face as we both realized that Star was going to try to run with Laddie once they felt the Sire bond and the pull of vampirism leave them.
I started to softly shush him as I slowly rocked him, holding him tightly to myself. Rubbing his back in comfort, I kissed his head. "Oh, Laddie... we wouldn't let her take you. Everything is okay and will be taken care of soon, alright sweetie?"
In my mind, I sent to signal to Michael and Sam through our family bond. Letting them know where we were and that we found Laddie but no Star yet.
A few minutes later, I saw Michael and David walking through the crowd towards us. Laddie still clung to me as Dwayne also started to rub his back and speaking quietly to him in comfort. Letting him know that he was family and that he'll be okay with us.
Minutes pass by as we wait for the other three and then I finally saw them, but they were not alone. They had Star in the middle of them in a silent intimidated group to keep her there. She was holding herself around her middle as I smirked. She was weak now. She couldn't even take on one of us.
"Good job, guys. Let's go ahead and head back to the cave. Sound good, Lads?" I asked the boy in my arms. He didn't say anything by nodded into my neck.
