Chowder stood, rubbing his shoulder; he was looking for the right words. despite how much he believed their relationship was purely a front for him to get Blurpleberries, saying the words was actually hard "Panini, I think...we should break up" Chowder replied, coming out with it.
Across for him was a framed picture she had given him with a lipstick kiss on the corner. he could barely say to to a picture, how was he supposed to break up with the real Panini, this was to be his last date before the end of the month, meaning he had to break up with her today.
In the windowsill Gorgonzola was eating a bag of candies, eager to see the moment as Chowder was clearly nervous, he knew he had to be the one to break up with her or Gorgonzola would tell her everything. it did not help that Panini wanted to go on a beach date.
He eventually made his way to Sandy Shorts beach wearing his purple swimming trunks as he wanted her Panini, this was going to be his last date with her, he should be ecstatic, but his stomach turned in knot. It was probably due to the pressure of actually breaking up with Panini.
eventually he felt two hands cover his eyes as he heard her voice, once she removed them, he was treated to a view of her in her blue one -piece swimsuit. asking him what he thought as she struck a pose. Chowder usually would have run for the hills from Panini making an advance on him, but he just complemented it, saying it looked good on her.
The two walked along the beach, their feet, making prints in the sand as Panini, pulled a bucket and shovel seemingly out of nowhere. she mentioned that this would be the best place to make a sandcastle. it was not too wet and not to dry.
Chowder agreed as the two started digging. in no time they constructed a huge sandcastle which they could easily walk inside, decorated with chandeliers, a staircase, various rooms and a working fireplace, somehow. The two were sitting in the dinning room, at a table made a sand.
"Pass the sand flurkey" Panini requested as Chowder handing a flurkey dish made of sand to her as she passed him the bowl of sand mashed gro-tatoes and the sand whack and cheese. a huge spread of foods, constructed of sand laid before them as Panini's stomach growled.
She suggested they get some real food as the mere word got Chowder on board. the two left their castle, opening the gate and lowering the drawbridge. the walked across and headed up to the pier. Chowder noted that panini was holding his hand the whole walk. eventually they made their way up to the pier where they stopped by the stands.
Thrice Cream, Clot Dogs, Cloud Candy, they were going to enjoy it all as Panini, tugged Chowder's arm gently, pointing to a restaurant that she wanted to go in.
"Let's go in there, share a Milkquake with me?" Panini asked, with the cutest look in her eyes, Chowder simply could not say no as he finished his Finger Fries, tossing the paper bag in the trash, walking to the counter.
Panini put the money on the stand, asking for a Triple layer Bingo Milkquake, the mere mention made Chowder's mouth water. the two simply sat there. panini holding her head with her arms, looking at Chowder with dreamiest look.
"You know, you look super cute in those Trunks Num Nums" Panini complimented, admiring the pattern on them. the two kept talking as Chowder brought something up, looking at Panini.
"So, are you going to tell me, what's with your hiney, I saw it earlier, it looked painful" Chowder went on as Panini covered her rear with her hands, nervous before looking at Chowder. "Oh, you saw that"
Panini did not go into detail, but she mentioned that she spoke up to Endive and her master paddled her with a wooden spoon for it. Chowder looked back in shock and sympathy. he wanted to ask what she said but did not want to force panini to talk about it.
Panini dismissed the topic as their Milkquake finally arrived, two straws in the glass as they each sipped on it.
Chowder did not even realize that he was not worried about it, the old chowder would have envisioned cooties, climbing up his straw into his mouth. The Milkquake was delicious, the perfect mixture of creamy taste to satisfy his sweet tooth.
The two sipped on their straws, the creamy substance, emptying from the glass until it reached to bottom. Chowder let out a small belch, excusing himself as Panini let out a belch in return, giggling. the two were talking until Chowder looked behind Panini and saw Gorgonzola in the window, tapping his watch.
"Excuse me for a second" Chowder said getting up from the table. Panini simply waved her fingers, blowing him a kiss as he left. once he was gone panini looked around, pulling Chowder's straw from the dessert, licking the tip of it. another piece for her Chowder box. she unwrapped another straw, placing it in the cup to replace the one she pocketed.
Outside the Thrice Cream parlor Chowder was talking with Gorgonzola who was saying that time was running out.
"When are you going to dump her Fatboy?" Gorgonzola pushed as Chowder tapped his fingers together nervous, asking if he could not get a bit longer as the green rat looked at him.
"Don't tell me you actually like Panini, you told me yourself you were only dating her until Blurpleberries were out of season. and know you're going to back out" Gorgonzola commented Chowder pondered on the topic, claiming it was not as easy as he thought it was.
"That's your personal problem, I came to that bully get her heart broken, now either you go back in there and dump her on her bum, or I come in and tell her everything about the Blurpleberries, the fact you never liked her, everything" Gorgonzola declared, metaphorically twisting Chowder's arm as he took a deep breath.
"Okay, you're right Gorgonzola" Chowder said, heading back into the parlor as the green rat had a huge smile on his face, watching Chowder head back in. The purple Cabbit sat across from Panini.
"Oh, there you are Chowder" Panini let out, as Chowder, scratched his neck. this was actually gonna be harder than he thought but he did not want to Break Panini's heart, he only hoped he could let her down gently. Mung always told Chowder that no breakup is painless, and someone will always get hurt but the most Chowder could try to do was cushion the blow.
"Panini, I've made my decision about the whole making our relationship official thing" Chowder replied as Panini shot up, saying she had something to say before he made his decision, reaching into her swimsuit, pulling out a crumple piece of paper to open as, clearing her throat before reading.
"Ahem... Thank you, Chowder, Look I know I can be a bit forceful and clingy, but that's only because I love you so Much. please know that I'm trying really hard to restrain myself around you and not shower you in affection. I've been sleeping on it, and I could see why you were put off by my earlier advances" Panini explained as Chowder was sweating, she was opening up and he was about to dump her." I'm just really glad you decided to give me this trial period as a chance as your girlfriend, I just have so much love to give you and I hope you decide to be my boyfriend full time" Panini went on as Chowder composed himself.
"Panini, I'm touched I really am and to be honest I've enjoyed this month, really, and remember I gave you an honest chance. but I don't share the same feelings" Chowder replied as Panini looked at him, her ears sinking. "You did nothing wrong; you actually were pleasant to be around, and I could see you were trying but, I don't want to string you along. I... I'm just not interested in having a girlfriend at this time" Chowder explained as Panini just sat there, sniffling, blowing her nose in a napkin.
"She said nothing, getting up and leaving as Chowder felt a great weight was lifted off his shoulder. after Panini had left Gorgonzola walked in.
"Okay, there; I did It" Chowder replied having crossed the final hurdle as Gorgonzola sat in the seat once occupied by the pink Cabbit.
"It wasn't her breaking down in tears like I hoped for, but you did it" Gorgonzola admitted as Chowder looked at the green rat, asking why he hated Panini so much to the point where he would use Chowder breaking up with her just to hurt her. Gorgonzola just simply laid back.
"Chowder, let me tell you something about Panini; that girl is a battleaxe, do you know how many times she has bullied me, I can't even count, you remember last Knishmas, i have been looking for a crack in her armor for months and I found it, her feeling for you. Now if I were to mess with you, that would just piss her off but getting you to dump her. That will hurt her more than anything I imagine" Gorgonzola replied in triumph.
Chowder looked at him, asking what would happen if she found out that Gorgonzola was behind Chowder dumping her as the green rat smiled again.
"That's the best part, I'm not, I never was the reason. It was YOUR plan to break up with her after the month, all to get your sweet Blurpleberries. If you think she'd be mad at me, she'd be livid at you for playing with her emotions as he got up, leaving. Chowder was alone, the milkquake on the table with two straws in it as Chowder stood up, heading for his trek home.
He made his way back to Mung's Catering where his cooking master was organizing spices as he called out his apprentice, asking how he was doing. Chowder simply sighed, telling him that he and Panini broke up as Mung nearly dropped a spice container, comforting the young boy as Chowder stated that it just did not work out between them.
"How did she take it; you remember what I told you about Breakups?" Mung asked curious and concerned somewhat as Chowder smiled faintly.
"Actually, I think she took it rather well" Chowder replied.
(And now Chowder has broken it off with Panini, that was always his plan)
