Here's another oneshot for y'all! Came up with this a while ago but just got the chance to write it down;)

Sam: 4 years old, Dean: 8 years old, Caleb: 16 years old, Joshua:16 years old

Mackland Ames could face off anything and do anything whether it was facing off a demon or saving a bleeding patient. But the one thing he found out that he was incapable of was saying 'No' to a tiny human being by the name of Sam Winchester.

The boy had the charm and eyes that could hypnotize the toughest human on the planet to become putty in the child's hands. Every hunter in the brotherhood was brought to their knees in front of the sweet, innocent child.

So it was at this time when Mac wished he had the guts to utter the two letter N word as the toddler stared up at him with his huge wide puppy dog eyes.

"Pwease Unca Mac, can we go trick or treating?" he pleaded.

Across the room, Caleb and Joshua were snickering at the doctor's conflict while Dean watched quietly from the couch. Mac noticed that there was a hidden plea in his eyes. Although Dean acted mature for his age and was a natural at hunting, he was still a kid. A kid who wanted to play sometimes and go trick or treating.

Turning back to the kid staring up at him, Mac made up his mind. Although he wasn't too keen about the idea because he knew what roamed around in the shadows, saying no to Sammy would break the heart of not only the toddler, but his brother too.

"Alright Sammy you can go." Mac relented and smiled when Sam hugged his knees and looked up then said "Tank you Unca Mac, you're the best unca ever," then thought for a moment and added in an exaggerated whisper "But don't tell Unca Jim and Unca Bobby."

Mac barked out a laugh and lifted the child to hug him properly "Okay I won't tell them. Now go think about what you want to dress up. You too Dean," he said as he put Sam down.

Dean beamed and for once looked and acted as a kid his age would. Then Mac turned towards the two who were making fun of his internal struggle. "And you two better dress up too because you'll be accompanying us." Mac struggled not to laughed as he watched both their faces pale at that.

"You can't do that, we're sixteen!" Joshua argued.

"But I heard your friends tell you that they're all breaking the stereotype that 'big kids don't go trick or treating' and dressing up this year." Dean told him, smirking.

"Hey! You weren't supposed to know that!" Joshua said.

Sam, who was watching the whole exchange, saw that Caleb had yet to utter a word. The four year old was mature for his age so while Dean and Joshua were bickering, he went over to Caleb.

"Cayeb? Why you don't wanna go?" he asked in a low voice not to attract attention.

Caleb was surprised at the question and he knelt in front of him "I don't know tiger, I just don't like Halloween."

But Caleb knew exactly why he didn't want to go, he just didn't know how to explain it to his little brother without traumatizing the kid like he was traumatized by the events that had played out during Halloween years ago.

Last time he had been at a Halloween party, he ended up in front of a judge and his whole life had been flipped upside down.

Sam wasn't easily fooled. "Are you scared?" he asked quietly, but his voice had no hint of teasing or joking.

Caleb sighed and glanced over at Joshua and Dean who were still going at each other.

"Yeah bud I am," the psychic confessed, glancing down at the floor.

Tiny arms wrapped around his neck "Don't be scawed, I'll protect you." Sam whispered in his ear and Caleb felt like he was about to cry.

"Thanks bud."

Sam pulled back "So you're coming with us?" he asked, hopefully, glancing at his big brother with his puppy dog eyes.

Caleb groaned "You got me kid. Fine, I'll go with you."

Sam squealed and hugged him tightly. Caleb hugged the toddler back just as hard then turned to Joshua "Give it up Josh, you know we're going no matter how much we argue." he told him, feigning annoyance but Mac saw right through his act. The doctor smiled slightly and his heart swelled. In all of his short life, Sam had done what he and therapists hadn't been able to do and that was get through to Caleb. The child was gifted, with a huge heart and perception. He had helped Caleb during numerous occasions and Mac was positive that Sam had started helping Caleb get over his feelings for Halloween.

"Come on Dee, we gotta think about our costumes," Sam said as he raced over to his brother, pulled his hand and the two of them went up to their room to discuss their costumes.

Mac turned to the two teenagers left standing "Start thinking about your costumes 'macho men'." he said then turned to leave, smirking when he heard "How the heck did we get roped into this." get whispered behind him.

Mac watched amusedly as Sam ran out from his Dean's room, clad in his was a lion costume made out of a yellow onesie that had paws and claws at the edge of the hands and feet, and a hoodie that had a lion's mane on its edges. He looked adorable.

"Unca Mac! Look, I'm a wion. Rawr." the child pretended to growl while scrunching his face.

"Oh my, that is one scary lion." Mac feigned fear and placed his hands on his face, playing with the toddler.

Sam giggled "Don't worry Unca Mac, it's just me, Sammy," he said, climbing onto Mac's lap.

Mac smiled and raked his fingers through Sam's soft downy hair under the hoodie pulled over his head. "Oh thank goodness, I thought you were going to eat me."

Sam hugged his uncle "No, I protect you. You think I'm gonna get candy?"

"Of course, Sammy, who's going to say no to the cutest… I mean scariest lion in the whole neighborhood?" Mac assured him.

Since The Scholar lived in an apartment in New York, where it wasn't trick or treating friendly, he was going to make the drive up a bit north where there were houses.

Sam smiled and just leaned forward on his uncle, seeking snuggles, when Caleb's and Joshua's bedroom door opened and out stepped Dean, dressed as one of the three musketeers, a smile on his face and a slight spring in his step. Behind him walked Caleb and Joshua, dressed as the other two musketeers, but unlike Dean who was practically bouncing with excitement, they shuffled forward like manacles were chained to their feet. Mac almost burst out laughing but didn't want to jostle the baby on his lap.

All three musketeers had plastic swords strapped to their waist. They wanted to wear real ones but Mac refused, drawing the line there.

"Well, are you boys ready to trick or treat?" Mac asked as he plucked Sam from his lap and placed him on his feet.

There were a bunch of replies of "Yeah!" from Sam, "Yep." from Dean, and a bunch of grumbles from Caleb and Joshua.

Shaking his head at the teenagers, he took Sam's hand and led the group out of the apartment and to the garage. Dean, Caleb, and Joshua clambered into the car, fighting over who rode shotgun while Mac buckled Sam in his car seat, then they were on their way.

The drive had taken thirty minutes, but out of all the boys in the car, Sam was the only one who had been a perfect angel. The other three were bickering and throwing tiny balled up pieces of tissues at each other, and it wasn't until one of the pieces hit Sam in the eye and he started to cry did they stop.

Caleb and Joshua had seen their friend group as soon as they parked the car and went off to join them, promising to rejoin Mac and their little brothers in an hour at a specific meeting point and they were off.

Caleb was particularly smug about something, but Mac couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, especially since his son wasn't all too fond of Halloween and trick or treating.

Holding Sam's and Dean's tightly, Mac ventured into the crowd.

Meanwhile, Caleb and Joshua were hanging out with their friends, going door to door and gathering candy. It wasn't until their buckets were half full that they stopped. Every member of their friend group had little siblings, and they were each going to meet up with their family to continue trick or treating.

"I bet you, my little sister will score me two times the amount of candy we just collected," one of their friends said.

Caleb and Joshua looked at each other and smirked "Sorry dude, but you haven't met our little brother. He'll land us with tons of candy, these buckets will overflow," Caleb told him.

"That's why we brought these," Joshua continued as he produced two large pillow cases.

"You two are lucky, I've seen your brother and he's cuter than any of our siblings," their friend said, whistling.

"Yeah dudes, you better share the candy," Another piped in.

"Sorry dude, finders keepers losers weepers," Joshua told them.

There was a collective groan from a bunch of them when one of the teenagers, Isaac, pointed to Caleb's waist.

"Yo Reaves, watcha got there?"

Caleb grinned and reached into his scabbard and pulled out a small yet pointy looking knife with weird carvings on it, showing it to them.

Isaac's eyes widened "Cool man! Where'd you get it?"

Caleb shrugged and tucked it back in his scabbard "A family heirloom."

Joshua was staring wide eyed at Caleb, leaning in, he whispered into his ear while the others were distracted by something else "That's Jim's, he's going to kill you if he finds out you took it," he hissed.

"Relax Joshie, what Jim doesn't know won't hurt him. Just don't tell my dad."

Joshua glared at him "First, how many times have I told you, don't call me Joshie. Only Sammy can call me that. Second, don't worry I won't tell Mac but if he does find out, leave me out of this."

"Deal." Caleb shook Joshua's hand.

"I wonder how trick or treating is going on with them."

Sam and Dean climbed up to the porch of one of the houses. Dean bounded to the door while Sam froze, staring hesitantly at the door then back at Mac who was waiting at the base of the stairs.

Mac gave him an encouraging smile "Go on, tiger, I'm right here and Dean's right next to you."

Sam nodded and slowly walked towards his big brother and grasped his hand.

"Ready Sammy?" Dean asked.

The little boy nodded and both of them knocked on the door. It opened and revealed a pregnant lady holding a bowl of candy with a smile on her face.

"Trick or treat!" the Winchester boys cried.

"Well hello there! Happy Halloween to the handsome musketeer and the cutest lion." The woman gushed.

"I not cute, I scary. Rawr." Sam pretended to growl, then smiled up at her, ruining his scary facade and only managed to make him look more adorable.

"My my that is scary. Well, would the scary lion and his brother like some candy?" she asked and laughed when she was met by twin "Yes!"

Scooping up a handful of candy from the bowl, she dropped them in the boys' Halloween baskets. She normally gave only two or three, but these boys had won her over. As they thanked her and ran back to the man waiting for them, she smiled and closed the door, hoping that her child would be as polite and cute as them.

The next thirty minutes passed by with Sam and Dean going door to door. Sam had gotten over his initial nervousness and now ran from house to house. Their buckets were almost full and Mac was glad they had brought pillowcases to store the extra candy in.

Seeing the boys trick or treating made Mac's heart swell. He loved it when they came to visit and always strived to keep them with him for as long as possible. It was nice to see Sam so excited, and it was relieving to see Dean act like a kid his age, rather than the sergeant he always was when he went on hunts with John. Mac knew that John tried hard with his boys, and he loved them more than anything in the world, but there were times when he just wanted to throttle him and shake some sense into the man's brain.

They then met up with Caleb and Joshua who joined their little brothers and Mac knew that between the four of them, they were going to need a vault to lock away all of the candy.

Not long after, they stopped in front of an old house. Not one kid was venturing close to it and some were staring at it and whispering.

A kid only a few years older than Dean came to them.

"Whatever you do, do not go to that house," he told them.

"Why?" Dean asked.

"An old lady lives there, and she hates kids and Halloween. Once, a kid knocked on her door and she dropped a handful of dung into his Halloween bowl. I'm telling you she's mean and evil."

Sam stared at him for a second then shrugged his tiny shoulders "I don't bewieve you," he said then ran towards the house.

"Sam!" Caleb shouted and ran after him but it was too late, Sam had already knocked the door.

The door swung open slowly and an old lady stood in the doorway. Caleb moved to stand in front of his little brother but stopped when he felt no hostile emotions or thoughts coming from the woman. He waited to see what was going to happen while staying vigilant to protect Sam if the need arose.

Sam shuffled his feet, becoming nervous "Um hi. Dose people are saying you're mean but I don't beweive them 'cause my Unca Jim said all mean people are sad. So I wanted to give you a candy to cheer you up and I don't fink you're mean, you look nice."

The old lady stared down at him, shocked, then she smiled widely, tears glistening in her eyes.

"Thank you darling, you are the sweetest boy I have ever met. Thank you. I'll tell you a little secret, I actually love Halloween and always have a big bowl of candy for trick or treaters, but nobody ever really comes to my house. So, I'm giving you an extra helping of candy."

Sam watched, awed, as a huge amount of candy and chocolates rained into his pillowcase. Looking up at the lady, he beamed widely "Tank you nice and not mean lady!" He cried and ran to show Mac what he got as the lady gave Dean, Caleb, and Joshua large helpings of candy as well.

Mac, who had watched the exchange, was touched by how sweet the child was. Sam was known widely for having a big heart, even at four years old. But this, this was beyond words and he couldn't be more proud of the kid who was a son to him in everything but blood, his brother too.

The group waved goodbye to the old woman and smiled when they saw the kids crowded on her front porch, now eager to visit after they saw the rumors about her get debunked. They then continued trick or treating until ten minutes later, Sam stopped running eagerly and instead walked alongside Mac, clinging to his leg.

The Scholar recognized the signs of a sleepy Sammy, so he scooped the toddler up and settled him on his hip, carrying his candy bucket and pillowcase in his other hand. Sam wrapped his arms around his uncle's neck and laid his head on his shoulder. Within moments, Mac felt small warm puffs of air on his neck indicating that Sam had fallen asleep.

Gesturing for the others to continue, he walked with them from house to house, carrying a sleeping Sam in his arms until he told them that they needed to wrap it up. The trick or treating was about to be concluded in ten minutes and they needed to get back to the house.

"Trick or treat." Dean told the woman who opened the door of the house.

"Oh mah lord, I love the three musketeers! Extra candy for y'all." the woman said with a Texan accent, then glanced over at Mac and saw the child in his arms.

"Bet your brother fell asleep from all that runnin round am I right?"

They smiled and nodded "Mah Robert fell asleep as well. How bout I give you some candy for ya little brother?"

"He'd be thrilled, thank you," Joshua said as he accepted the extra offering of candy. They thanked the lady and turned to join Mac, putting Sam's candy in his pillowcase which was about to overflow from the sheer amount of candy present in it.

Caleb and Joshua were sitting on the couch in the living room, checking out their candy winnings. Mac had gone up to change Sam into a pullup and his pyjamas then put him to bed, as well as put Dean to bed.

Caleb thought back at the events of the day, it was almost perfect, if not for the looming anniversaries coming up in three days, one of them being the murders of his parents and the other the murder of Mary Winchester, the wife of the man who was a surrogate father to Caleb and Joshua, and the mom of their little brothers.

But thanks to Sam and his family, he had taken the first step to tackling his Halloween trauma, and enjoyed the holiday for the first time in years.

He knew the next few nights would be filled with horrible nightmares as he re-lived his past, but this evening he had been able to forget about that all for a few hours.

Joshua noticed that something's up with Caleb and took a guess at what it was. Saying nothing, he placed an arm around Caleb's shoulders and pulled him into a manly side hug.

"I'm here for you," Joshua said in his mind, and he knew that Caleb heard him when the young psychic gave him a weak smile.

"Thanks Josh." Caleb leaned on Joshua's shoulder for a short moment before he was able to push his dark thoughts away and sit straighter. "C'mon lets get these sweets sorted."

Joshua's support, and the fact that there were three more people upstairs that loved and supported him regardless of their age, gave Caleb the strength to snap out of his funk and resume the exploring of their loot and continue teasing each other and bickering.
