It was a chilly day in late April. Lofi girl walked down the crowded streets of New York. Just getting out of art class, she was very tired and ready to crash in her dorm. As she crossed the street, among the regular sounds of New York City, she heard something odd. Meooow! Stopping, she looked around. Nothing. There it was again. A distant, yet familiar sound. Meow! She looked around but came to the same conclusion. Must be in my head, she thought. After that she pulled out her AirPods and placed both gently in her ears. A wave of relief passed through her as she resumed her usual Lofi hip hop playlist. This was always the most relaxing part of her day. Suddenly she felt the sudden urge to stop at a coffee shop and get a drink. She usually doesn't drink coffee so this was unusual for her. As she sat down waiting for her light sugar decaf coffee. For a moment she sat, just vibing to the chill up and down beats of the music. She took a deep breath. "Here you are mam' anything else I can get you?" She shook her head. "Have a good day!" The waiter finished. Something about that odd noise kept her thinking as she sipped her coffee. She always loved helping animals in need. Eventually the thought passed her mind. Before she knew it, it was morning. 5:00 am, and back on the grind. Since she was in her 3rd year of college she had lots of work. Unlike the first 2 years at a community college near her home town farm in Georgia. The move to New York University was a long one but she was just beginning to get used to life alone. This was nerve racking but music really helped her. She really wanted an animal companion though. Among other things she thought about this on her way to English class. Soon enough the last class, art class, came around. Her favorite thing to draw was winter themes. She always dreamed of selling her art and creating her own music studio. But for now she would just have to get through college. "Times up students, make sure to get your Spring project done by Tuesday. Don't relax too much this weekend" the teacher exclaimed "Best class worst teacher" She thought. She decided to go an alternate route today instead of her normal way home. The air today was especially cold but growing up in the south, this was somewhat of an enjoyment to her. On her final block, there it was again. Meeeow! This time she heard tiny footsteps and there, just barely peeking its head out from behind a allwayway, a light brown cat shyly stared at her. "Wow, hi there. So you're the one That's been stalking me." Lofi girl slowly tip-toed over to the small cat. It began to back up. "No, no it's ok" she said aloud. She crouched down about 7 feet away from the cat. She flung her backpack over her shoulder and pulled out a chip out of a bag chips she had purchased after class. After placing the small chip on the ground and backing up, the cat hesitatingly made its way to the chip and bit at it. "Are you hungry" then it spotted the half eaten chip bag in Lofi girl's hand. Its eyes widened. Just like that it had darted into her lap, nearly knocking her over. "Hahaha! wow you must be hungry?!" The cat feasted on almost all the chips. She sensed a sense of trust between them. So she tried to pick her up. Surprisingly she didn't even struggle. "Do you have a name tag buddy?" She said. Nothing. "Hmm I might as well take you home, you seem like you need some food and water." Once home she discovered something she never thought about. The cat became very stubborn and would only sleep on her lap. Not even the bed, couch, chairs or floor. The next morning she decided to go for a weekend walk. Seeing how the cat had become very fond of her she decided to bring her along. On her way she passed through parks, crowded streets, and even ate at a restaurant! She could tell the cat really liked her. Over time this cat, who came to be known as Melody, became like a child to lofi girl going everywhere she went and doing everything she did. The two were never seen not together. This would be the start of an amazing friendship that would blossom into a million memories.
