A/N: I originally was going to post this in another week but I thought since I already finished editing the chapter, I mind as well post it a little earlier.
Rin doesn't do anything spectacular for the next couple of days.
She worked out at the gym.
A little shopping.
Deep cleaned her apartment.
Pretty much nothing.
She was becoming nervous as the event drew closer.
The day before the event, Kagome thought it would be a good idea if Inuyasha and Rin met.
I mean, this is her sister, and it is way past due for these two to meet anyway. Of course, Kagome would pick the day before the event for this to take place.
It kind of took Rin's nerves away.
She thought, if she met Inuyasha, maybe her confidence level would rise when she stepped into the room of elite socialites.
She would sort of know someone, and because he is from a predominant family, she wouldn't feel like much of an oddball.
Kagome invites Rin over for brunch and, of course, to meet Inuyasha. Kagome picks up Rin, and she helps set up some finger foods for the meeting.
Kagome hands Rin a fruit and vegetable tray to set out on the coffee table. Kagome follows her with champagne and orange juice.
"Inuyasha is bringing over some pinwheels and finger sandwiches." Kagome turns to look at her front door. "He should be arriving soon."
"He needs to hurry up; I am starving," Rin says, rubbing her hands together and licking her lips.
Rin sits down on the couch, takes a selfie of herself, and uploads it on Instagram while waiting for Inuyasha.
Kagome shakes her head at Rin.
The doorbell rang, and Kagome jumped up with excitement to answer the door.
"Kagome."
"Inuyasha."
Rin heard them say and then some smacking noises, she giggles.
Rin rises as Kagome and Inuyasha enter the room.
"Inuyasha, this is my baby sister Rin."
They greet each other in a handshake. "It is nice to meet you, Rin," Inuyasha says.
"Nice to meet you as well," Rin responds. She looks down at the bag in his hand. "Is that by chance our food? I am starving."
Inuyasha looks down, "Right, yes, this is our food." He hands the bag over, and Rin digs her hands in, pulling out the items.
"So, Inuyasha, my lovely sister recently informed me, you are a Taisho."
Inuyasha and Kagome sit down on the loveseat. Kagome begins plating fruits and vegetables and a couple of pinwheels on a plate and hands them to Inuyasha.
"Yes, that is true. Is there something you want to know," he says, putting a strawberry into his mouth.
"I think it is fascinating. You have lived a long time. You must have seen so much in this world," Rin says.
Rin also grabs a plate and begins picking at the variety of foods and placing them onto her plate.
Meanwhile, Kagome begins mixing the champagne and orange juice to make mimosas.
"Yes, I have seen a lot. I was alone for a while. Even though I had a family, I felt alone because I am a half-demon."
Rin took a bite out of a melon," hmmm, that is very unfortunate." Rin looks over at the two. Kagome was watching Inuyasha eat while she sipped on her mimosa. "Do you feel alone anymore, Inuyasha?" Rin asks.
Inuyasha stops eating and looks over at Kagome.
She had a twinkle in her eye. The look in her eye held much adoration.
"Not anymore," Inuyasha moves closer and plants a chaste kiss on Kagome's lips.
Kagome smiles and looks at Rin. "Did he pass?"
"The way you both just looked at each other." Rin nods her head hard. "Yes, he did for sure," she laughs.
Rin takes a sip of her mimosa.
Inuyasha asks, "So Rin, I hear you will accompany us to tomorrow's event. Are you ready?"
Rin fantasizes about a man grabbing her waist and pulling her close to him. The mystery man whispers in her ear, "You're mine."
Rin had a goofy smile on her face.
"Rin, Rin."
She slightly shakes her head. "Yes."
"Did you hear what Inuyasha said?" Kagome asks.
"Oh yes, I am ready as I'll ever be," she smiled mischievously.
The day was finally here.
Kagome thought it would be better if they went to Inuyasha's mother's house.
Rin thought her sister was always changing plans and being sneaky.
Like when she asked her to join her last minute for this event. She probably had this planned weeks ago. She had already requested Inuyasha to accommodate her and have attire ready for her.
She shook her and smiled at her sister sitting across from her in a lavish limo.
There was champagne chilling on ice in its own compartment area and fancy champagne glasses in holders. There was a small platter of fruits with cheese and crackers.
Rin happily reached out for the delectables while Kagome ranted about their evening.
"Rin, you already know how I am, but Mrs. Taisho is extravagant. I cannot wait until you meet her. She wanted to use her glam team for our hair and makeup." Kagome balls her fist, wide-eyed, and says to Rin, "Isn't this the best!"
"Well, it is good for you because you will always have this as long as you and Inuyasha are together." Rin points to herself with her thumbs. "Unfortunately for someone like myself, I will be watching from the background at your glitz and glamour."
Kagome rolls her eyes, "Well, as long as you are my baby sister, you will share this with me." Kagome sticks her tongue out at Rin. "So ah."
"Now, who is the older sister," Rin giggles.
Sarcastically, Rin says. "Speaking of Mrs. Taisho, I thought you would be so nervous because Inuyasha's parents would be there. You made it seem as if you never met them, hmm."
Guilty as charged, Kagome answers. "Well, it was the only way I could think of you coming." Kagome crosses her arms and turns her head away from Rin. "I don't regret it either!"
"Of course you don't," Rin giggled.
Rin looked out the window and noticed the terrain had changed. There were trees everywhere, like a forest.
As they continued down the road, there was a huge gate ahead. The driver had to put in a code to get in.
Rin became a little nervous because it felt as if they were in the middle of nowhere.
Until a massive castle came into view, it made sense now why they were in the middle of nowhere. Kagome informs Rin that they keep a barrier around the area to keep enemies from finding out their location.
Only invited guests can enter their home estate.
