Legend, Wild and Wind were trekking through the thick brush as a light drizzle began to fall.
"Ohhh! PERFECT!" Legend cried out in frustration. "As if this day wasn't challenging enough..."
"Oh, calm down..." Wild rolled his eyes and then his shoulder as he resettled his pack on his back for a moment before turning to face his disgruntled pink-haired companion. "We should be catching up with the others soon. Besides it just a little rai-"
Suddenly the drizzle became a downpour, coming down in torrential sheets, a Noachian deluge for the ages. The look on Legend's face at this moment was priceless but the taller man knew better than to continue to antagonize him while out in the weather. For some reason, unknown to him whenever he was damp or soggy (especially his boots) the shorter Link's fuse was just that much explosively shorter, increasing the likelihood of an all-out fight which none of them needed in this moment.
"Hey! Look!" Wind suddenly piped up pointing into the shadows of some nearby trees. It appeared to be the entrance to a cave! "That looks like a good spot to wait out the storm!" The teen didn't even wait for any acknowledgement from the others before trudging off in that direction through the quickly softening mud. His companions were left with little choice but to follow him.
Once Inside the cave, they began to try to dry themselves. Unfortunately, there was no wood or anything nearby that wasn't soaked through with which to start a fire. Legend was rummaging in his bad for his fire rod or something to create an adequate source of heat. "AHA!" he cried triumphantly upon finding his item and igniting it. The cave was suddenly filled with the warm glow of fire light and the trio all instinctively gathered closer to its warmth. Wind held up his hands to warm them around the burning tool as his eyes adjusted to the dimness of the cave.
"Oh wow..." He murmured. "This place is a lot bigger than I thought it would be.
The others look around to see it as well. The 'cave' only seemed to be such for a few hundred feet before transitioning to something more structured that was obviously build with skilled hands in some ancient time. Tall ornately carved pillars held up a faraway domed ceiling over the smooth level stone floor beneath them. It extended backwards into the darkness beyond.
"Hmmm..." Legend squinted into the dark, suddenly feeling a little less keen on their choice of shelter. The veteran had been through enough dungeon crawls to recognize this for what it probably was. He was about to suggest a relocation (despite the weather) when Wild pulled a torch from his slate and lit it against Legend rod. His eyes were brimming with mischievous curiosity and the pink-haired man had a bad feeling about this.
"Let's check it out!" Wild spoke up in a low voice, grinning ear to ear. "Places like this are always bound to have some really unique treasure!"
"Treasure?" Wind parroted, eyes alight, and began to fall in step behind the tallest of the group.
Legend was left with little choice... He groaned, lighting his lantern from his pack and began to follow his incredibly naïve companions, eyes darting around the walls and floor for boobytraps, into the maw of darkness.
