Inuyasha and his father, Toga, met up with Sesshomaru. Inuyasha's half-brother.
Since the Taisho family was well known in the industry, they were provided their own private suite on the top floor of the venue where the event would be held.
Inuyasha straightens out his tie, "So tonight will be the night father, Kagome, and I will make our debut as a couple. Everyone will meet the love of my life."
"Tuh, you said that last time with Kikyo. What makes this one so different?" says Inuyasha's older brother.
"No one was even talking to you, Sesshomaru!" Inuyasha growls.
"Enough, you two," Inuyasha, and Sesshomaru's father says.
"I am so tired of this fighting." Toga turns to Sesshomaru. "How about you celebrate your brother on finding his mate."
Sesshomaru snarls, "His mate is a human father. What good will come of that?"
"And what is wrong with that? You know me and Izayoi are mated, and she is human. So when you speak of Inuyasha's mate, it is as if you are speaking about me. Do not be disrespectful, Sesshomaru!" Toga says while marching up to his tactless son, giving him an intense glare.
Sesshomaru turns his head to the side and takes a deep breath. "I am leaving."
Annoyed with his father for taking his brother's side yet again, he decided to go outside to get some fresh air. He stands against the stair railing, watching all the guests arrive.
He felt so out of place.
He didn't belong here.
The only person on his side who felt the same way was his mother. His father, someone he looks up to, mated with a human, a lesser being. Although she is now immortal because their blood now courses through her, it was still disgraceful.
Sesshomaru had to fight many enemies because of his father's decision; it was hell. But his father will never see what his decision put him through.
Why couldn't he see his side of things?
He started to have second thoughts about standing outside because human women and female demonesses were smiling and waving at him.
They were trying to use their feminine grace to sway him.
It did not phase him. It did not move him.
He knew he was an attractive daiyoukai. That was one attribute he could agree was passed down to Inuyasha from their father, their good looks.
He indulged in play with demonesses from time to time, but it became a bore. They became emotionally attached, wanting more from him. And that was something he could not give. Nor did he feel the need for them. Nothing they could do could make him desire them more. There was nothing there to keep him coming back. So he would hit and quit it.
Another reason he avoided these types of events.
But he came to these events only because of the Taisho name, and he knew he had to represent his father and the clan.
The Taisho come from a long line of powerful demons, dog demons. They have been ruling over the western lands for centuries; Toga, that is. Sesshomaru is the eldest son and the heir of these lands.
They were highly respected.
But the only thing.
Once these lands were in Sesshomaru's hands, would he change how his father had always run it?
His father, Toga, ensured the safety of the humans. Would Sesshomaru let mediocre demons run rampant across the lands, torturing the humans? His father contemplated this, but he would continue to give his eldest son the benefit of the doubt.
Sesshomaru, annoyed with the women and demonesses trying to win his attention, goes back inside the venue.
He finds a place towards the back of the ballroom, hoping to avoid the crowd that was now forming. Unfortunately for him, he was one of the most prominent bachelors there, and the women and demonesses sought him out. He soon had a crowd around him of his own.
Toga and Inuyasha finally make it down to the ballroom to greet the other guests. Inuyasha constantly looked at his watch, wondering where his mother was with his mate. Toga taps Inuyasha on the shoulder and reassures him they are on their way.
Inuyasha smirked and nodded his head towards where Sesshomaru was. He had a flock of females surrounding him, trying to get his attention.
Toga chuckles and says quietly to Inuyasha. "He talks about you, but his attitude will change once he finds his mate."
Inuyasha nodded in agreement. "He is just backed up," Inuyasha snickers.
Inuyasha received a text message from Kagome saying they were pulling up. He tells his father that Kagome invited her sister Rin and she will need to be escorted inside.
Toga thought it was a grand idea for Sesshomaru to escort Rin. He elegantly walks across the room towards Sesshomaru. "Excuse me, ladies, I apologize if I am interrupting, but may I borrow my son for a moment."
The ladies giggled and made a clearing for Sesshomaru to pass by. As he walked by them, all you heard were oohs and aahhs.
Toga turns his body and motions for Sesshomaru to follow him.
"I don't know if I should be thanking you or not."
Toga smiles brightly, "You should be thankful, my son."
Sesshomaru continues to follow his father, eyeing him, wondering what he has up his sleeve.
He found himself back outside. He sees Inuyasha walking up to a limo.
Must be Izayoi and Inuyasha's mate, but why does father need me here? What does this have to do with me? He must want me to play nice. This Sesshomaru knows how to act accordingly at business events.
Sesshomaru glared over at his father, and Toga smiled at him.
