Sesshomaru didn't want to be seen any more than he already had with the human woman. He found it appalling that she made him flustered.
He couldn't risk anyone seeing him breaking his character.
He would rather entertain the little fan club he had from earlier.
Long and behold, his fans come surrounding him. They were right on time. He could be content with this environment for the rest of the night.
But could he? He looked across the room at that human woman who assaulted his nostril with her scent. His curiosity will make him keep his eyes on her.
Izayoi, feeling guilty, looks at Toga with pleading eyes. "Dear, I will be fine. I know most of the individuals here, I know how to mingle with them, so I will not be alone. On the other hand." She looks over at Rin. "Rin doesn't know anyone here but myself, Kagome, and Inuyasha. Could my mate please escort her around when needed?"
Toga nods, "I will, dearest," he says as he kisses her hand.
Toga steps beside Rin. His voice is almost as hypnotizing as Sesshomaru's. "Apologies for my eldest son's behavior."
Rin nods, "Thank you. You don't have to apologize for his behavior. I know he does not get that from you."
She smiles.
Toga looked at Rin with curiosity and looked over in the direction where his son was. He could feel his eyes on him, burning into his skin. He felt possessiveness emanating from his son way across the room.
Could it be? Toga thought.
He thought he would test his theory.
Kagome felt terrible about how Sesshomaru treated Rin, but she saw Toga escorting her around, so she was in good hands.
She mouths to Rin, "I'm sorry." Rin nods. She wasn't upset with her sister at all. Sesshomaru was being a douche.
"So Rin, would you like something to drink or eat?"
"Yes, please," she responds.
Toga smirks as he can still feel his son's eyes on him.
After Rin ate an appetizer and had her drink, they made their way around the party. She was getting introduced to many of Toga's colleagues. Some were long-time allies of his. They all seemed genuinely happy to meet her.
There were jokes told here and there, and Sesshomaru could hear his father and the young woman's laughter fill the air.
He was so annoyed by that, but he couldn't believe his father would go the extra mile and introduce this woman to different males. What game was he playing? Then again, how would his father know he was reacting this way for the woman.
He left the woman to her lonesome, but he couldn't keep his eye off her. He was not only infuriated by the males she was introduced to but also by his father.
He didn't like that his father made her smile; that was his. Now she will be covered in his father's scent.
Sesshomaru growled, and his little fan club gasped. It was guttural, possessive. "MINE," he growled again.
The women and demonesses were so lost in love that they automatically thought Sesshomaru was talking about them.
They all cooed at him.
Ignoring them, Sesshomaru moves away from them, and they all look at him in confusion. "Where are you going, Sesshy!" they yell out.
He ignores them. His focus is one thing only...well, one person.
Sesshomaru moves around the party, observing from afar. He never moves back within Rin's space.
He pretended to mingle with others and take sips here and there but only to keep an eye on that woman.
After some time, Toga, Izayoi, Inuyasha, and Kagome all sat down together, partaking in more finger foods and champagne.
Sesshomaru youkai is now calm at seeing his mate not being tossed in every male's face. He was even content with his father being around her.
For now.
Rin asks Inuyasha, "Is Sesshomaru always like that? So cold?"
"Unfortunately, my brother is a douche, and to answer your question. He is always like that. Don't expect anything more from him."
"I see," she says, deep in thought.
"I don't know why but I thought he would be a lot nicer tonight," Izayoi says.
Inuyasha says, "Mom, you should give up hope. Before you all got here, he was badmouthing me and Kagome's relationship, but father got him straight."
Rin thought. Wow, he must be the black sheep of the family.
After some time passes, Toga gives Rin his arm again. She stands and takes hold of it.
Rin was enjoying Toga's company. He made her feel so comfortable, and she was grateful he was kind enough to take over Sesshomaru's duties.
"Oh!' Toga suddenly says. He spotted a friend from across the room. "Let me introduce you to one of my good colleagues."
Rin nods happily.
Toga still could feel Sesshomaru's piercing stare, and he thought, Son, just come take what is yours. No need to act so animalistic from afar.
