"Run!"

Naruto did not run. He just stood in the corridor, staring at Hinata blankly and rubbing the back of his head. "Uh…why?"

Hinata took big, soothing breaths. Not for the first time, Naruto completely mystified her.

Be calm. Clear mind, self-confidence.

"Because you broke into my house in the middle of night," Hinata explained. "It's impolite, Naruto-kun. You'll get yelled at if someone finds out."

She decided not to ask why he had decided to do this instead of using the front door like a normal person. Like she said, Naruto completely mystified her sometimes. Most of the time, he mystified her in good ways. Ways that made her smile. Ways that made her feel brave. Ways that made her want to mystify someone too. Most of the time.

"Oh, don't worry about that, it's all good!" Naruto said, grinning at her brightly. "I actually broke into your dad's room by mistake!"

Sometimes, though, he mystified her in other ways. Sometimes, like now, he said and did things that made her feel like she was watching a hurricane wrecking everything in its path, causing unbelievable chaos. What scared her the most was that sometimes, like now, she felt tempted to be that way too, to just snap and paint the Hokage Monument or something, or break into people's houses in the middle of the night.

It was terrifying.

"He was all annoyed and he told me that the front door existed for a reason, but then I told him that I needed you…"

She took more deep, soothing breaths, but it didn't work. There was an uncomfortable warmth in her cheeks and she had the sneaking suspicion that it would be possible to use her face as a lamp.

She just didn't understand.

Did he know that she would react this way with how he phrased things? Was he doing it on purpose? Or was it all an accident, the way he popped up out of nowhere that one time, telling her to shut up and come with him? Or that other time, when he asked her to go out with him?

"…and he gave me his blessing…"

Yes, Hinata decided. He was definitely doing this on purpose.

"…so get ready, baa-chan wants us to leave for the mission in a few hours – Hinata? Are you okay? Hinata?"

He was banned from entering the Hyuuga compound by window for a while. Not by Hiashi. Hiashi had given his blessing.

But by Neji.

Neji was scary when he got angry.
