"Why are they so big?" Naruto groaned, shifting Hinata on his back.

"She eats tons of cinnamon rolls," Kiba said, wincing under the weight of his own dark weirdo. "And as for Shino…" He shuddered. "His kikaichuu weigh almost fifty pounds. It's a nightmare."

Akamaru barked, evidently to complain that he was saddled with all the mission supplies and wasn't having an easy time either.

"Seriously?" Naruto asked. "Look at you, whining about how heavy your friends are. You're such a big baby."

"You were just whining five seconds ago! And besides, if someone didn't cause that stupid landslide with his stupid Rasengan and knock them both out, maybe we wouldn't have to be carrying anyone!"

"Well, if you didn't go and smash through those boulders – "

Hinata sighed in her sleep. Both fell silent immediately.

At any other time, he might have carried on a loud argument with Kiba over who was most responsible for their predicament. But this time was different.

Later, he mouthed. You'll tell me about Hinata and cinnamon rolls later.

This was all completely Kiba's fault, but still. He had to make it up to Hinata.

Hinata stirred, trying to open her eyes, but they ached in a way that those who didn't have a doujutsu just wouldn't understand. Not quite a stabbing, piercing pain, and not a tired itchy throbbing either, but a miserable combination of the two. So she decided against opening them again and just listened to the heavy footfalls of the person – Kiba or Shino, probably –carrying her.

She relaxed. Okay, she had gotten knocked out and that wasn't good. But it probably was just Shino or Kiba, so it wasn't the worst that could have happened.

The worst, her half-conscious mind helpfully supplied, would be if it was Naruto carrying her and he was complaining about how heavy she was.

Or if Kiba had told him that her weight was because she liked eating tons of cinnamon rolls. That would be the worst.

She sighed deeply in her semi-aware state.

Yeah. Things could have been so much worse.
