Rain headed to the bathroom and I slouched back on the couch exhaling like a deflated balloon. My cheek was throbbing, anytime I swallowed my throat killed, I could smell dried blood on my upper lip. Events of the night replayed through my head at x2 speed.
Gareth, Jeff and I having a jam session before the party. Seeing Rain sitting by the pool alone, looking lost. Didn't get to spend anywhere near enough time with them before the guys were calling me. I could've happily stayed with Rain by the pool all night, playing stupid drinking games. Sitting in one of the dozens of rooms in Linda's house, joking around with the Hellfire Club, plus Max. Watching Mike squirm as we saw his sister flirt with any guy who had good hair. Always keeping an eye out for Rain, barely getting a glimpse of them. Being hounded to the basement by Linda and Steve. "What, you two planning on butchering and offering us to Satan down there?" I'd teased Harrington, he hadn't laughed. Feeling a jolt or something when I squeezed past Rain and our bodies briefly made contact. Sitting in that stupid circle with all the douche bags from Hawkins High - sometimes making eye contact with Chrissy Cunningham and trying to stop myself visibly acknowledging her. Four dull rounds of never have I ever, suddenly made interesting by intoxicated HHS grads exposing their dirty dreams of one another. "Never have I ever had a sex dream about Steve Harrington" should I drink? I mean it was one dream one time. With my reputation, they'd all think I was horsing around. Nah, don't want to start a fight tonight. Zoning out as the game went on, trying not to stare at Rain too much or make it too obvious. "Never have I ever had a sex dream about Eddie." No takers, no surprise...Rain drank. Are you shitting me? My insides flipped, my dick twitched. Keep it cool Munson. This is a good sign, you have a chance. They drank on Nathan. Are you fucking kidding me? Nathan - Mr went around Europe once and bulked up to prove it? Maybe I don't have a chance. "Never have I ever had a sex dream about Rain" Nathan drank, of course he did. I drank, may as well swallow my pride with it, Rain watched me.

Loud rain drops on the roof of the trailer brought me back to now, thinking of Rain, they'd been in the bathroom a long time now. What were they doing? I stumbled to my bedroom to get changed, "ah shit" I whispered aloud as I remembered Rain was probably super uncomfortable in their outfit still. I rummaged around for the cleanest sweater and joggers I could find, and passed them to Rain. Water. My body was crying for hydration. Filling a glass, my memory continued. Didn't even see anyone else drink for Rain. Patrick? Wouldn't have put him down for a wet dream about Rain Wheeler, huh. Flaring annoyance as the dipshit joked about sipping for Billy Hargrove. Blood boiling. "If Billy were here and saw Rain sip for Eddie, he would've tried to kill her again!" Ears popping, mouth drying, gritting my teeth. Fists clenching. Moving faster than I'd probably ever moved in my life. Throwing him to the floor, smashing my fists into his face, over and over. Harrington begging me to stop. Don't stop. This fucker deserves it. Jason and his sheepies beating on me, Patrick sinking a few on me. Glass shattering near my head. Back in the room, people screaming and shouting. The numb and horrified look on Rain's face, too much to handle. Run, Eddie, get out of there. Lungs working over time as I ran through the woods. Skull Rock ahead, time to rest. Flash light in my face. Fuck. Jason and his dicks found me. Rain?!

I suddenly realised my glass was overflowing from the tap, water splashing over my arms. Guzzling the water, the bathroom door crept open and Rain shuffled out wearing the clothes I'd given them. They looked adorable. Wavy hair tousled around their shoulders, my sweater hanging off their arms, joggers rolled up on their legs to fit. "Thanks, for these" Rain said. I nodded and finished my water, trying to think of something to say. I heard Rain gasp a little, and they jogged to the couch, carrying the big first aid box back with them. "Stay there, the light's good." Rain instructed, pulling supplies out. "I'm fine, really, I'll fix myself up later." I started moving away from the sink but they poked my belly with two fingers to push me back. "Just let me do it, doofus." I held my breath as Rain cleaned away the dried blood from my lip, then wiped my face and neck. My skin buzzed wherever their fingers touched. "You got any ice? for the bruises." I pointed to the freezer silently and watched them dig it out. "Hold this here" Rain murmured, placing an Ice pack on my swollen cheek. The cold barely shocked me, because Rain was standing incredibly close, touching my neck. "Need to keep this on your neck - probably easiest if you lie down." They said. "Uh, sure." I replied. Rain started towards the couch, but with me lying on that, there wouldn't be anywhere for them to sit. "Um, how about I take the couch and you can go crash in my room." I suggested. Rain's brows furrowed, "Oh, yeah sure. I mean, I'm not exactly ready to sleep just yet. I don't mind hanging on the couch whilst you sleep in there?" They replied. I wasn't tired either. Wide awake in fact. "Me either. How about we hang in my room, then I'll come out here when we're ready to sleep." I pushed away from the sink, closing the tiny gap between us. Rain shuffled backwards, waiting for me to lead the way.
