Queen's 'Another one bites the dust' began playing, I snatched Eddie's hands and dragged him further into the field to dance, I loosely held his wrists and started moving him like a marionette to the beat, watching him try to keep up the fake 'I am not enjoying this' expression. Then Robin gripped my shoulders as we bopped together, pulling out all of our worst dad dance moves. I caught sight of Vicky and Eddie huddled together watching us and chuckling; I pretended to throw a lasso over Eddie and reel him in, hoping he would play along. He didn't disappoint. Eddie dramatically mimed being captured and yanked towards me, folding his arms around my back and gently stroking my spine. The sound of the gang nearby broke us from our staring contest as Mike hollered, "do you think Danny's taking music requests?" Eddie and I broke apart from each other and backed a couple of steps away. We both knew tonight would be the night they found out about us, but neither of us had discussed how exactly. Everyone shrugged, looking to the person next to them. "Why don't you all go find out before the bonfire gets lit?" Vicky suggested. Eddie leant over to Dustin and whispered in his ear, making a silly grin appear on his little face. "C'mon guys." Dustin announced, leading them all towards Danny's makeshift DJ deck.

Vicky and Robin linked arms and went to sit by Steve and Nancy, leaving Eddie and I alone. "Do you want another drink?" I asked over the music, Eddie nodded enthusiastically and slipped his hand through mine as we headed to the crates. "What did you whisper to Dustin?" I asked. Eddie gave me a cheeky wink and responded, "just guy talk." I opened my mouth to argue, really intrigued now, but felt someone bash against my back. Twirling round I saw Annie with her arms outstretched, "Oh my god I'm so sorry, I totally didn't see you there! Oh hey Eddie, how you doing?" She drawled, beer in hand and long blonde locks twisted into braids on top of her head. I snorted, backing into Eddie and feeling him grip my hip with one hand when he casually answered, "Not bad, you having a good time?" Annie did a cringeworthy fake giggle, "yeah, a little. The night is still young though." With that I turned and started walking towards my friends, doing my best to keep my mouth shut and not say something catty. Eddie was instantly behind me, "Did she seem drunk already to you?" He asked, but I shrugged with disinterest. We sat next to Nancy and Steve, chatting with them for a while when The Clash started pounding over the speakers. Will's favourite song. The six of us turned in our plastic seats to see Mike and Will standing awkwardly together, but there was no mistaking the huge smile on Will's face as Mike started banging his head and gripping Will's shoulders.

The next song came on - Iron Maiden's 'Wrath child' and we all sat gripping our sides with laughter at everybody's reactions. Everyone stood around not quite sure how to move to this; Jeff, Gareth, Mike, and Dustin were having a great time headbanging to it though and playing air guitar. Danny cut the song short and started playing some Michael Jackson - to which everyone on the field applauded and began dancing again. "Well well, you actually had the balls to turn up here." A menacing voice came from behind us, we all turned to see Jason and his sheep, including Patrick, standing behind us. Steve immediately stood up, as did I and Eddie. "hey guys, no fights tonight. C'mon this is Danny's party. Water under the bridge okay?" Steve tried to mediate. Jason sniggered and was about to respond before I jumped in, standing right in front of him, eyeballing him and Patrick, "Would Patrick like me to call his mother and explain that comment he made about Billy killing me again? I'm sure she would love to hear it." Patrick's mom was a nurse and had taken care of me in hospital after the incident, she was a fantastic woman, and I knew she would rain hell down on Patrick if she knew what he'd said. Patrick's face turned ashy and he pulled on Jason's shoulder, tugging him away with a meek expression. Jason tried intimidating me with a stare as he backed away, but Eddie stepped in front of me and gave him a killer look. "Nicely done Wheeler." Eddie said under his breath. Danny cut the music and boomed into a megaphone - "Now, to light the bonfire, the hottest girl from Hawkins High. The one we all know and love - Chrissy Cunninghahm!" Chrissy came shyly walking through the crowd, carrying an unlit torch. No matter what she wore, Chrissy always looked incredible. I didn't know her in school, and the fact she was constantly in an on again/off again relationship with Jason made me judge her instantly, but her shy demeanour had me thinking maybe I was wrong about her.

Everyone cheered as Jason set fire to the torch and Chrissy threw it on the bonfire. Heat and flames immediately burst out and I think we all regretted sitting so close. Danny clicked the megaphone again, "Now here's one we all know and love!" as David Bowie's 'let's dance' started playing. I whipped my head round to Eddie, to see him already watching my face with the corners of his lips turned up. He stood, holding his hand out to me, "Let's dance." He winked at his own stupid pun, and I slapped my hand into his with a laugh. I could feel the gang's eyes on us from all across the field as Eddie and I held onto each other dancing closely. I spotted a goofy grin on Dustin's face; Mike, Will, and Lucas looked confused as hell; Max was smiling ear to ear; Nancy didn't seem surprised; Steve's face was emotionless; Robin and Vicky were clapping. Eddie's friends were watching us like hawks. "So this is what you whispered to Dustin?" I looked at Eddie and he shrugged, "Maybe I sent my right hand man to put in a request for a song that just happens to be your favourite of all time..." Whilst Eddie and I danced together, bodies never further than a centimeter from one another, I forgot about the world around us. The song came to an end and some pop song neither of us knew started playing, but I wasn't ready to break away from him yet. I curled my fist into Eddie's shirt keeping him close to me, he responded by winding an arm around my waist and raising the other hand to my chin, lifting my face to his. "No idea what this crap is." he laughed over the music, voice tickling my eardrums. I tilted my nose and brushed my lips against his, "Funny, I can't even hear it."

Eddie's hand firmly cupped my face as he pushed his warm, alcohol spiced lips to mine. I couldn't hear a thing other than my racing heart beat and Eddie's beating beneath my fingers. Our lips danced over each other and I felt Eddie's fingers dig into my waist as he nipped my bottom lip, asking to enter. I parted my lips and let him twist his tongue with mine; the kiss had started out innocent and sweet, but was quickly turning heavy and needy.I loped my arms around Eddie's neck, pulling his head further down towards mine, needing his tongue deeper in my throat. Eddie's hands lowered and stroked my ass, caressing it firmly as he held me up against him. A sticky and wet substance trickling down my legs shocked me and I jumped back, looking down to see what the hell was going on. I couldn't see anything but there was definitely liquid dripping down the back of my legs. Eddie looked dazed and confused. I whipped my head around to the sound of a high pitched voice whining, "Oh no I'm SO sorry Rain! I didn't mean to spill on you!" Annie was standing extremely closely behind me, beer bottle in one hand, the other wound around Gareth's neck. "What the hell?" I demanded, feeling Eddie's hands move from my waist and seeing him shaking them out as if something was on them. "We were just dancing and I think we got too carried away! I didn't even realise I'd spilled this all over your back, so sorry!" Annie's voice sounded anything but sorry. Eddie wiped his hands on his jeans, seemingly oblivious to the situation, "Damn. No worries, c'mon Rain lets get something to dry your legs off." he said as he interwined our fingers and led me to the gang near the bonfire. I could see a mystified look on his face though as he looked back at Gareth, who was now fully making out with Annie.

Nancy tugged off her cardigan immediately, blotting it onto my bare legs, "What the actual fuck, we all saw that right - she totally poured that over you." I could hear anger in her voice. Steve poured a little water over my legs and Eddie's hands to get rid of the stickyness, saying "Yeah I don't think that was an accident." I wanted to shout and confront her, but I knew she wanted me to cause a scene, and I didn't want to give her the satisfaction. Instead I flicked my hair and laughed, "Oh well no need to make a scene." Mike snorted, "I think you guys already did that, Jeez we thought you were gonna start humping eachother right there in front of everyone." I felt my face flush as I glanced at Eddie, he was looking at Mike with a smirk. "Thanks for telling me you're banging my cousin by the way, not cool man." Mike remarked sarcastically. Dustin chimed in, "dude they're dating." and I saw Mike's face screw up at me, "wow nice to know I'm the last one to hear about everything!" Nancy, Lucas, Will, Jeff and Vicky shrugged in unison, murmuring that they didn't know either - but I could tell none of them seemed surprised. Other people in the field were still staring at us too, and I suddenly felt self conscious and embarrassed at how heavy Eddie and I had gotten in front of them all. Eddie leaned into my neck and whispered, "Wanna get outta here?"
