The Eevee Brother Tournament
"Wow," Max said looking up at Pidgeot flying with Bagon on her back. Lita had to give a smile too. The camera still fit on the much larger flying type and Pidgeot power was amazing. Right now Pidgeot wasn't wearing the camera though as Lita took photos of her own Pokémon. Since evolving he had learned agility and all his attacks were supercharged. Lita was looking at more powerful attacks and TMs to give to him. "Pidgeot is awesome. Can I take a ride?" Max asked as Pidgeot landed and Bagon jumped off.
"Max, no," May said to her brother as Bagon started hitting himself on the head. "Why does he do that?"
"He's getting close to evolution," Lita said knowing Bagon did that to help speed up evolution. Bagon had learned crunch which was one of the last moves he could learn naturally before evolving. Emerald, her Dratini was currently hanging around Lita's neck giving Bagon looks. The two dragon types seemed really close. Her Meowth, Stilely, was resting after training on making iron tail stronger. May's Absol and him snuggled together. Hestia was still trying to get confuse ray down and was refusing to learn anything else until she mastered it.
Meanwhile the only problem Lita had was Rockruff. She had tried to give her the iron tail TM, but the poor Pokémon seemed confused afterward and it wasn't working as well as normally. Lita figured the reusable TM had started to break down. It wasn't that surprising. Her, Ash, Misty, and now May had all used the TM. Lita suspected she was going to need to toss it and get a new one.
Lucky the TM had worked well enough Lita figured Hestia, Stilely, and Emerald could help Rockruff get the hang of the move. Due to that Lita wasn't going to confuse Rockruff more until she got the hang of the iron tail move.
May's team was progressing well. Her starter Torchic was probably her strongest Pokémon knowing the moves growl, scratch, ember, quick attack, detect and was currently learning flame charge. Torchic also had an egg move of low kick that he was able to use. Skitty was definitely May's second strongest and her move set was assist, fake out, growl, tackle, and sing. She also had a egg move of zen headbutt which Skitty had not been able to use yet. Butterfree had a similar move set to Ash's Butterfree knowing bug bite, gust, harden, string shot, tackle, and confusion. Ponyta was definitely much better under May than Damien. Besides the TM of Iron Tail May had given her she knew growl, tackle, tail whip, and ember. Ponyta had also recently unlocked her egg move of flame wheel.
Her two newest Pokémon were also great additions. Absol while also seeming to really like Stilely knew the moves leer, quick attack, double team, knock off. Being that Absol could not evolve she could learn a lot more moves and had to train in power. Tyrouge was a bit different. He could only know four moves in his pre-evolved state. Those being fake out, focus energy, helping hand, and tackle. He also had an egg move of high jump kick which he could not use. It would depend the way he evolved what he would be able to learn.
"I've been looking up those TMs," May said. "Thinking of what I should buy. I got a bit of money."
"Are your parents funding your adventure?" Lita asked honestly curious. She was good with money due to her photos but she had never asked why May and Max are so good with money. May had only won three contests and didn't seem to be entering too many tournaments or winning too many battles.
"Dad had a fund made up for us when we were born to finance our adventure," Max answered. "He put a lot of money in it."
"I've been working some too before I left," May said and Lita decided to nod and let it go.
"Are these your Pokémon?" It was a boy maybe around Max's age or a bit older. He had brown hair and an Eevee with him.
"Six of them are, six belong to May," Lita said not surprise Pidgeot flying around with a Bagon on his back had gotten someone attention. Plus, Bagon was still making noise banging his head against a tree.
"Which six are yours?" The boy asked.
"Pidgeot, Vulpix, Bagon, Dratini, Meowth, and Rockruff. Bagon stop that for a bit," Lita said the noise giving her a bit of a headache. "Why?"
"They all look really powerful," the boy said looking at the six Pokémon.
"Okay, I am going to need some context here," Lita said her hand going to the pokeballs wanting to return her Pokémon.
"Oh sorry, I'm Mikey and I'm... well…. The fourth Eevee Brother," Mikey said putting a hand behind his head.
"Seriously?" Lita asked and Mikey gave a smile. "That's awesome. I knew there was a fourth but it's nice to meet you."
"What's an Eevee brother?" May asked.
"I don't know," Max said seeming confused which made May raise an eyebrow.
"Sorry they're from Hoenn," Lita said laughing. "The Eevee brothers are sort of local celebrities. Their family owns the biggest chain of mines for evolutionary items. Their parents donated so many items to the war effort. They were targeted and killed right near the end of the war. When the war was over their three oldest sons Sparky, Rainer, and Pyro took over the company and revitalized it. Every year they host their own tournament where the prizes are amazing."
"And why are they called the Eevee brothers?" May asked.
"I'm going to take a guess they all have an Eevee," Max said pointing at the Eevee with Mikey.
"Or one of the evolved forms," Lita said with a nod. "I watched their tournament with Ash every year."
"You know it's tomorrow," Mikey said. "How would you like to be in it?"
"All the spots are taken months in advance," Lita said confused.
"You know how my three older brothers get to sponsor someone and those people automatically go to the finale 16?" Mikey asked and Lita gave a nod. "Well this year I get to sponsor someone. It's sort of a challenge with my brothers. See next year I hit 13 and I really want to go out on a journey of my own, but my brothers want me to start training for a position in the company. They said if the person I sponsor can get to the top three they will let me go on my journey. If the person doesn't I train to enter the company."
"The Eevee Brother Tournament gets really strong trainers with years of experience. I just started and have 6 badges," Lita said. "Isn't there someone better you can get?"
"Possibly normally but they are all friends of my brothers…." Mikey started.
"Ah I get it they rigged it against you," Max said.
"The only people around who I could get are more local trainers who don't even have a badge. They would melt, but your Pokémon look strong. You have 6 badges. Please," Mikey said.
"Get to compete in the Eevee Brother Tournament as one of the Eevee Brother champions," Lita said. "Yeah I'll do it, but I can't promise you anything."
"This is the best shot I have had," Mikey said holding out a hand and Lita shook it. "Come on. You and your friends can stay in our guest house until tomorrow. My brothers won't refuse that." Lita and May started to return all their Pokémon. Lita leaving Hestia out of her pokeball and letting Emerald stay around her neck too.
The four walked through the forest and headed to a house on the edge. Lita had to give a smile as she saw Sparky, Rainer, and Pyro there setting up for the tournament. "Mikey, who do you have there?" It was Sparky who asked turning to Mikey.
"Nice Vulpix," Pyro said look at Hestia. "You know they evolve by use of fire stone."
"I am aware," Lita said. "And if Hestia would wants to evolve I'll get the necessary fire stone." Pyro gave a nod at that.
"I'm guessing Mikey got you to be his champion," Rainer added.
"Yes, and I told her that she and her friends can stay in our guest house overnight," Mikey said.
"Sure," Sparky said back. "What's your name? We need it for the tournament."
"Lita Ketchum," Lita said. "This is May and Max."
"Ketchum?" Rainer said. "Wasn't that the last name of champion Red and dragon master Drakken."
"Drakken was my father. Red my uncle," Lita said and saw Mikey shock. They hadn't actually introduced themselves.
"Well seems like Mikey here lucked himself into an interesting champion," Sparky said. "The guest house is all yours. If you'd want that evolutionary stone for any of your Pokémon you can buy it here. Although should you win you would get some stones for free. And access to training fields for tonight in the back."
"Any chance you have an Everstone?" Lita asked.
"Why would you want that?" Pyro asked.
"For one of my Pokémon who doesn't want to evolve just yet," Lita said and Pyro indicated for Lita to follow him. Lita bought the Everstone and a collar for it from Pyro. "Mikey." Lita said taking him aside. "Where's a Pokémon transfer device?"
"There's one inside. There will be more here tomorrow," Mikey said. "Why?"
"I am getting my best," Lita said as Mikey showed him where the phone and transfer device was. "Hey professor," Lita said when Oak answered.
"The caller ID said Eevee Brothers," Oak said.
"Because I am at their house. The younger brother Mikey is sponsoring me to compete in their tournament tomorrow," Lita said and heard a noise of something dropping and then saw her aunt running onto the screen.
"That is so exciting," Delia said. "I will be watching every minute."
"Thanks, but professor I want my original team. They are my strongest and I want to do some training for tomorrow. Obviously I am going to be switching out my team tomorrow," Lita said as Dratini made a cooing noise. "You're going to the lab but don't count yourself out of a fight tomorrow." Lita patted Emerald head as she said this.
"I can send Poliwhirl and Primeape back to you no problem, but Nova still wants to become a Glaceon," Oak said and Lita had to smile at Oak use of her nickname. "She would still accidentally evolve if you use her."
"Not with this," Lita said holding up the collar with the ever stone in it and Samuel Oak gave a smile.
"I'll send them over now and be ready to receive your Meowth, Dratini, and Rockruff," Oak said calling Tracey to get the three Pokémon and Lita made the transfer out. "And I'll be on call ready to transfer tomorrow if you need."
"Good luck sweetie," Delia said as Lita said her goodbyes and then released Nova. Nova jumped up and hugging her and Hestia greeting the Eevee as well.
"You miss training?" Lita asked as she took the collar and put it around nova neck. "Now you are safe from evolution until we get to Ice Island and we have big battles tomorrow. You ready?" Nova let out a call and Lita gave a smile. It was good to have her starter back.
….
The next day it was an early morning wakeup call as the people competing had already arrived. Sparky had made the announcement of who each of the brothers were sponsoring getting right to the finale 16. Many people disappointed when they heard Mikey had been allowed to sponsor someone meaning one less position open to be fighting for. Sparky had also made sure to include she was Drakken daughter in the announcement.
"Well this is something," May said once Lita had been let off the stage and primarily rounds were about to start. There were multiple news media cameras arounds. Currently focusing on the four different battle fields where battles were getting ready to start. A line of phones with transfer devices and multiple Nurse Joys. "Why do they need all this? Can't you just use your six?"
"This is a one-day super event," Lita said to May as she pet Hestia. Nova was sitting on her shoulder. "Even from where I am starting out at in the top 16 that's four battles. From the beginning it's at least twice that much. There's no way only six Pokémon can take on all that. No everyone will have to be making transfers in and out. If I had to do this from the beginning I would not stand the chance."
"But from where you are?" Max asked. "How many Pokémon do you exactly have?"
"Technically 15 Pokémon are registered to me, but four of them are Tauros I have put up for trade. I don't even know their move set and then there's my Cubone. There's no way he's ready to do any battling. Meaning I have 10 ready to battle. Which for four three on three would be passable but the last two battles are full battles. Six on six," Lita said. "It will be tight, but Max can you do me a favor?"
"What?" Max asked.
"Help me keep an eye on all the battles. Know thy enemies," Lita said and Max gave a nod and bounced off to start watching.
"What about the other three being sponsored by the Eevee brothers?" May asked.
"They've been around the block a few times. I think they competed in this tournament once or twice," Lita said with a nod knowing some of the faces. Two boys and another female. It was the female she was most concerned about. Her name was Carrie and Lita remembered she had earned the right to take on the elite four once. She hadn't made it pass the first battle but getting there was something. Lita held out a hand to May who took it. "Let's watch the battles."
The three spent the morning watching the battles until the 12 people joining Lita and the other three Eevee Brother champions were chosen. It was pass noon and the battles for the finale 16 were chosen. The three-eating lunch. "I noticed your opponent only use electric types. I think he's specializing," Max said.
"Interesting. Thank you, Max," Lita said to the boy. "I'm going to go make a transfer before the battle."
Lita got up and ran to the transfer. "Does she have a chance?" May asked Max.
"In this round I would say better than a chance," Max said with a nod. "But if you're asking her chances of getting first place I would say slim."
"What about the top three? Mikey is counting on her," May said.
"Better chances," Max said with a nod. "Depends on who she's randomly paired up against." Lita returned then giving the two a nod and finished eating before waiting for her battle.
Lita taking her place on the battle and her opponent opposite her. Lita had never seen him before on television but he seemed maybe a year or two older than her. If he was specializing not surprising she had not seen him. He was collecting Pokémon before entering major tournaments. He released an obvious electric type that Lita didn't know well but he called Plusle.
Lita released Rockruff. "Rock type, how predictable," her opponent said as he sent Plusle to do a quick attack. The attack hitting but Rockruff shook it off, but seemed lost as Plusle still stay fast
"Rockruff stay calm," Lita said knowing this was the Pokémon first real battle. "Double team." Doubles of rockruff appeared on the field. Plusle using thunder wave to getting rid of them but the real Rockruff had gotten behind her and used bite. Plusle responding with a swift to the face. "Rock throw." Rockruff start to throw rocks at Plusle as Plusle sent out many swifts. After the two attacks were done both Pokémon stood on the field both clearly injured but Plusle was the one to faint.
Rockruff cheered happily. "Nice one, take a break," Lita said deciding to switch out Rockruff. She wanted to try avoid having her Pokémon faint since if they did it was a longer wait until they could get back in the battle. Lita tossed out Stilely as her opponent let out a Minun. It looked almost exactly like Plusle only blue instead of pink.
"Electro ball," her opponent said seeming to want to use a powerful electric attack fast.
"Iron tail, destroy that ball," Lita said to Stilely and Stilely tail hit up hitting into the electro ball. The steel type move causing the electro ball to break apart and doing no damage to Stilely. Stilely continued the iron tail over and hit into Minun. Lita looked over at her opponent. He was getting frustrated and that was never a good thing as he started ordering many electro balls around the field.
"Stilely, stay on your feet. Move fast and use iron tail as much as you can," Lita said knowing she had to go on a defensive move here. Stilely seeming good at dodging the electric attack and hitting into them. He was fast. He wasn't completely unscratched by the bombardment but was doing well and Minun was getting exhausted. She knew from Pikachu electro ball was very energy high and concentrated attack. Minun would tired itself out before Stilely did.
She was right as soon Minun seemed unable to send the attack and Stilely hit the Pokémon with another iron tail. "Scratch, end this" Lita said not wanting to do too much damage but Minun was still standing and Stilely used a scratch attack that took the electric type out.
Her opponent returned Minun and before Lita could think about switching out Meowth he had released a Pikachu and ordered a volt tackle. Stilely was exhausted from all the dodging himself and wasn't able to dodge the electric tackle and fainted. Lita returned Meowth as she took a quick took at this Pikachu. It didn't seem much stronger than her cousins and Lita knew the Pokémon who had been training with Pikachu the longest.
"Nova let's finish this up. Use Shadow Ball," Lita said releasing her starter and the little Eevee came out of the ball ready with the shadow ball that hit into Pikachu tossing Pikachu back. Her opponent started ordering electro balls again and Lita wondered for a second if that strategy actually worked.
Nova knew iron tail and quick attack which made her quicker than Stilely in dodging the electro balls. Lita having Nova combine the two attacked to give a quick attack iron tail which caused major damage. "Use quick attack and swift down." Nova gave a call out and as she ran around the field using quick attack and used swift at the same time. The field being covered in the swift attack and Pikachu using thunder bolt to try to counteract it.
Pikachu clearly getting hit as her opponent order quick attack to dodge. "Nova stop the swift and run right at Pikachu now," Lita said and Nova turned to run right at Pikachu.
"Switch it to volt tackle," her opponent called and Lita waited watching as the electricity went around Pikachu.
"Jump," Lita said and Nova jumped right in time getting over Pikachu electricity. "Shadow ball." In the air Nova released a shadow ball at Pikachu hitting the electric mouse and Pikachu went flying and fainted. Lita won.
Nova ran over to Lita jumping into her arm. Nova wasn't completely scratch free but was clearly happy at the win and battle. Lita was too. She had been a bit concerned her starter might be a little rusty from all that time not being allowed to battle or train, but it was clear she wasn't.
May jumped from the sideline and the two hugged. Lita smiling and then giving Max a one armed hug. "I need to transfer before the finale 8," Lita said rushing to call Oak and transfer all three Pokémon that had battle. Asking Oak to get them ready for another battle. All her Pokémon were going to battle at least once today and probably a lot of them twice.
"What's going on?" Lita asked as she got back to her friends.
"Both Rainer and Pyro sponsored trainers lost," Max said. "They're not moving onto the finale 8."
"Which leaves me and Carrie," Lita said. The Eevee Brothers sponsored trainers who got to start at the top 16 had a big advantage but it wasn't always guaranteed they won. There had been years all three had been defeated.
"The top 8 battles are being chosen now," May said. The process was completely random and Lita waited. If she was put against Carrie in the top 8 she might as well kiss getting to the top 3 goodbye.
She let out a breath when her opponent was some girl she didn't know. "Max?" Lita asked him.
"From what I seem of her battles she's good but probably about the same as you. I think you have a good shot at getting to the top four," Max said.
Max words were proven right. Lita had used her Scyther, Emerald and Primeape while her opponent used a Wartortle, Fearow, and Arcanine. Emerald and Wartortle were an even match which Emerald just managed to beat and then Fearow knocked Emerald out. Scyther she nervously put again Fearow to be surprised Sycther seemed a bit more obedient. He still seemed not to care to use protect, but seemed training with her Pokémon at the lab had shown him something. The two knocked each other out. Lita was pleased Primeape had made easy work of Arcanine. While being one of her original six Lita had not yet got to use Primeape in a major battle.
"Your two battles away from winning," May said after it was over.
"Not going to be that easy. We're on six on six now," Lita said as she gave her Pokémon to Nurse Joy to heal this time. She waited for Nurse Joy to come back with her Pokémon. "Nurse Joy, will they be ready for another battle?"
"They didn't get any bad hits that will knock them out of battling. They should be fine," Nurse Joy said to Lita after she had returned them.
"Lita," Max called and Lita ran over to him. The top four battles had been picked. She was against Carrie. "You're going to have to use your strongest."
"Even if I did I don't think I will win," Lita said looking at the other two. The two losers of the finale four had to battle to decide who was top three. "No, the plan here is top three. I only need to hit the top three to get Mikey his win. I'm saving my strongest for the top three match."
Lita knew that meant her original six: Nova, Pidgeot, Hestia, Poliwhirl, Bagon, and Primeape. Only Nova and Primeape had battled meaning the other four were still fresh. She had done that on purpose knowing those six were her best shot at getting to the finale three. "So, who is going to be your team against Carrie?" May asked.
"Emerald, Stilely, Scyther, and Rockruff," Lita said knowing all four had battles already today and three of them had been knocked out, but there was a break between the finale 8 and finale 4. They had just gotten healed. They should be rested enough to give a good fight.
"You still need two more," Max said and Lita nodded.
The fight for third place took place right after the finale four fight with only enough time to transfer Pokémon. She couldn't use any of her first six and then expect them to battle for 3rd place. "I guess I'll have to grab two of those Tauros," Lita said making a face at it but she didn't have a choice. She wasn't putting Cubone in a fight.
"Or," May said. "Torchic and Ponyta are my best fighters, but Absol isn't bad." Lita turned to look at May. "You could use two of them."
"She can't use a Pokémon that's not hers. It's against the rules," Max said.
"Is it?" Lita asked and the three looked at each other all not sure. "Mikey." Lita called going over to where the four Eevee brothers were. "I need a rule clarification."
"What do you need?" Sparky asked instead turning before Mikey could answer.
"Is it against the rules to use a Pokémon not registered to you?" Lita asked and all four Eevee brothers looked at each other.
"Yeah, it is," Rainer said.
"I don't think it's in the rules," Pyro said as Sparky took out a book containing all the rules. Lita knowing she was stalling the competition a bit but a rule clarification was encouraged.
"There is absolutely no mention of using Pokémon not registered to you. Since it's not exactly banned I will have to say it's allowed," Sparky said putting the rule book down.
"Thank you," Lita said turning and heading back to May and Mikey followed her.
"Why are you using a Pokémon not yours?" Mikey asked. "You haven't even used Pidgeot or Bagon yet."
"I'm saving them," Lita said to the boy. "Look the game here is to get to third. Not to win. This is the best way to do it. Do you trust me?" Mikey looked at Lita for a moment and then nodded.
"Yeah, I do," Mikey said. "Good luck."
Lita went back to May and requested to use Torchic and Absol. She then switched out all her originals to make sure she had the right team on her. Lita took a deep breath as she took her position opposite Carrie and the battle started. Lita deciding to start off with Torchic. "Low sweep," Carrier started.
"Jump over it," Lita said and Torchic reacted like Lita was her trainer and followed the order. May had told the two to follow her but it was always iffy using another trainers Pokémon. Lita had to smile at how reactive May Pokémon were to her. "Ember." Torchic spun around as he used the ember creating a nice show as the attack hit. Lita shrugged. Torchic was trained for contest battles and it seemed to be working.
Carrie used focus energy and then went at Torchic with brick beak. The attack hitting but Lita responding with a scratch. The two Pokémon separating. "Want to try to flame charge?" Lita asked the Pokémon knowing he was still learning the move. Torchic gave out a positive yell and then ran at Hitmonlee with fire around him. The attacking hitting but Hitmonlee using a mega kick. Torchic was thrown back and fell to the floor. He tried to get up, but couldn't and fainted.
Lita returned the Pokémon thanking him. "Oh," May said seeming upset from the sidelines.
"It's fine May. Torchic did well," Max said as Lita let out Scyther. Scyther gave a look at his opponent. The two Pokémon running at each other for close combat. Lita knowing this could be bad for Scyther, but also knew Hitmonlee was injured.
"Wing attack." Lita yelled out at her Pokémon after he took a few hits. A flying type move will due Hitmonlee in and Scyther listened delivering not one but two wing attacks. Hitmonlee dropped. "Can you continue?" Lita called out.
"Scyther," Scyther said and Lita knew he would not be happy if returned before fainting and Lita decided to go with it. Carrie released a Pokémon Lita hadn't seen before that looked like a crocodile on two legs. Carrie calling it Krookodile. Scyther used a false swipe and it didn't seem to affect Krookodile much. Krookodile using sand tomb causing and then a bite. Scyther was clearly almost done. Lita had been use fury cutter which seemed to hurt Krookodile more, but one more from Krookodile and Scyther was done.
Lita returned Scyther and took out Stilely. Using an iron tail right away. Stilely definitely did better than Scyther but Krookodile was a monster and Stilely was down soon after. Lita giving her opponent a look. He was almost done but she was down three Pokémon. Lita released Absol. Lita order a double team and quick attack right away. The double able to hit in Krookodile too. Absol getting a few hits before taking Krookodile down with a knock off.
"Nice job Absol," Lita said as Carrier let out a Zweilous. Lita giving a smirk. She knew dragons well and she knew this line. She could return Absol and use Emerald from the start or let Absol weaken Zweilous. Deciding to go with the later she used leer and quick attack. Zweilous responding with a dragon breath right away. The two Pokémon fighting for a bit before Absol fainted.
"Emerald you can do this," Lita said knowing her dragon would win this battle. She was determined not to lose another dragon battle. "Start this off with twister." A twister of dragon energy appeared and hit in Zweilous.
"The weakness to dragon goes both ways," Carrier shouted out with a smile clearing having fun as she sent out a dragon breath. Lita had Emerald use Iron tail to block most of the attack and then switched it to dragon tail. Zweilous getting a direct hit. Zweilous transferred and sued bit hitting Emerald, but Emerald hit with the dragon type with a thunder wave. Zweilous clearly paralyzed as Emerald used dragon tail until Zweilous fainted.
"I guess never challenge a dragon master daughter with a dragon," Carrier said and Lita smiled. She knew how to take on dragon against dragon now. Carrier released a Magmar and Lita saw the power of this Pokémon right away. Carrie was done playing, but Lita was determined to go to the end. She had Emerald and Rockruff left after all. Emerald gave a good fight clearing doing some damage before the Dratini fainted.
Lita releasing her last Pokémon Rockruff. She wanted to take Magmar down even if she didn't win. Rockruff and Magmar fighting it out. Lita using sand attack to kick up a sand so done of them could see. Lita and Carrier shouting out attacks and they just heard and saw flashes in the sand. When the sand settled both Pokémon had fainted. Lita was out of Pokémon and Carrier still had two left.
Lita returned Torchic and Absol pokeballs to May and then went to switch for her original team. The third place battle was taking place now. Lita whispered to the Pokemon inside the balls that they were fighting for third. That seemed to light a spark in her original team. She had never seen them so aggressive and motivate before. Hestia took out two of her opponent pokemon on her own fainting with the second one. Primeape did a lot of damage to a much more powerful fighting type letting Poliwhirl finish it off. Nova and Pidgeot each took out one each.
But it was Bagon who evolved in the first few seconds in the battle against the man obvious starter: Typhlosion. The finale evolved form of the Johto starter. The newly evolved Shelgon took out Typhlosion winning the match for Lita.
Mikey practically ran out when it was called and hugged Lita. "Thank you, thank you," Mikey said and Lita laughed as she dropped her pokemon off to be healed and watched the finale match.
Carrie destroyed her opponent only using two pokemon. Pokemon much stronger than the ones she used on Lita and became winner.

At night there was always a big party for all contestant. Lots of food and drinks and music and everyone got their prizes. In third place Lita got a coupon for gems, a coupon to a breeder this years coming from Brock who was apparently sponsoring the contest with his breeding business. The last prize for third was two evolutionary stones for free. She choosing fire and water.
"Hestia, I got it for you but I want you to think before taking it. This will give you more power, but it's irreversible. If you use this you will always be a Ninetales, never a Vulpix again," Lita said and the pokemon gave a nod as Lita put the stones away.
"I have a feeling you didn't use your best team on me," it was Carrie coming up to Lita.
"I have a feeling you did the same," Lita said as she picked up Hestia after she was done putting her rewards away. "I knew my best team would fail and I only needed third." Lita had heard the three older brothers tell Mikey he won and could go on his journey when he hit 13. But also that he would always have a place in the company. "Why didn't you just crush me?"
"What's the fun in taking out all opponents with one punch. Especially someone with as much potential as you. One day you will be my real rival I have a feeling," Carrie said giving Lita a smile as Lita smiled back and went to go join May and Max in celebration.

The three had spent the night in the guest house again and were getting ready to leave the next morning. Lita had her original team still on her. She was going to let her newer pokemon take a nice long break at the lab. They had done a lot of fighting and had done well. They deserved a break.
"Lita," it was Mikey running after the three making them turn. "You have a phone call."
