The Pokémon Journey

Lita's Pokémon:

An Interesting Job
As Ash and Misty walked towards where they could take a boat both had been training their Pokémon as well. Ash who had realized Espeon had been a psychic type for a while but only knew one psychic type move had started his starter on psybeam. Espeon getting it down fast and working on making it stronger. Pikachu who knew a ton of moves was helping Espeon with training and making his moves stronger. Ash deciding to think more on what he would train Pikachu on next.
Charmeleon was a force to be reckoned with. The fire Pokémon moves were strong. Ash knew it hadn't been that long since he evolved but Ash was starting to think he might get a Charizard sooner rather than later. He hoped so since there weren't really moves Charmeleon could learn naturally until he had the extra power boost from evolution. The other Pokémon Ash was sure was going to evolution soon was Oddish. She had learned stun spore and sleep powder very fast and Ash was sure one good battle would get her over the edge to become a Gloom.
Butterfree had also learned stun spore and sleep powder with Oddish and Ash had learned he could psybeam as well. The bug type was having problems with this move though even if Espeon tried to help. Ash had been kind of disappoint Riolu had seemed to be very rusty. Ash not training her in any new moves instead getting her back into shape.
Misty had been training her Pokémon as well. Totodile was getting powerful. Misty knew he would be evolving soon. Misty had decided Vaporeon needed a new water move and had her training on water pulse. Krabby speed and power was something that made Misty smile and he had learned bubble beam. Buizel was working on making his moves more powerful. He was excited from his win at the poison gym and wanted more. Psyduck had learned disable and was currently working on zen headbutt.
Misty knew Lotad would be an asset when it comes to the electric gym when she got there. Being a grass type as well as water lessened the disadvantage of electric type attacks, so Misty was working her against Pikachu as much as possible to get her use to fighting electrics.
"Hey, do we have enough to buy a TM," Ash said taking a sit. They had finally reached where they could take the boat to get to Cinnabar. "I want to reward Riolu for all her hard work getting back into shape." Ash had agreed to let Misty take care of all the money for both of them. Giving her access to his account so she could see exactly what they had.
"Ash at the moment the tickets I bought us for the boat to Cinnabar tomorrow kind of whipped us out," Misty said surprising Ash.
"But we both won gym battles not long ago," Ash said thinking of his defeat of Sabrina and Misty's defeat of Janine. "And you did all those battles with Sabrina gym trainers."
"But we had to restock food for us and our Pokémon and it doesn't help you go through pokeballs very fast," Misty said. Ash had a habit to try and catch a lot of the Pokémon he sees. "You used up balls trying to catch that zubat in that cave we crossed. Plus, you used several catching that Spearow the other day."
"Well I need a flying type," Ash said. Ash having seen Lita Pidgeot had wanted a powerful flying type of his own, but he didn't want to copy Lita exactly and catch a Pidgey. So, he had instead caught a Spearow. "And I'm not going to use my great balls or ultra on either. I'm saving those." Ash did give a frown though as the Zubat had escaped him even after Pikachu zapped it and he used several pokeballs.
"I'm not telling you to," Misty said knowing those pokeballs Ash won were special enough to save for a good capture. "What I am saying is we had to restock your pokeball supply and that's a supply we cannot share since my empties are registered to me and yours to you." Ash gave a nod understanding that.
"So, we need money," Ash said. "I could go to the fields and see if me and Charmeleon can win us some."
"I think we need a more solid and bigger payday," Misty said. "Remember when Lance told us about websites where trainers can accept jobs. Well I made a profile for both of us and there is a job nearby. I accepted it."
"What's the job?" Ash asked.
"A man wants a trainer with three or more badges to help their son catch his first Pokémon," Misty said.
"Sounds fun I'll come with you," Ash said as Pikachu jumped on his shoulder and said 'pika pika'.
Misty smiled and the group got up. Misty led the way to a nice little home and knocked on the door. A man answered the door. "Hi, I'm Misty. I accepted the job online to help your son catch his first Pokémon," Misty said. "This is my friend Ash. He'll be tagging along."
"Ah, yes, Misty, I'm Ian. Jon," Ian yelled and a boy the same age as Misty and Ash came up. "This is Misty she has five badges. She'll be taking you and showing you how to catch a Pokémon. Thanks for this. I never went on a journey but Jon wants to. I managed to get him a Bellsprout as his starter for his 13 birthday and he has several pokeballs."
"We got this," Misty said. "Come on Jon."
Jon happily joined the two and they went off into the forest. "So, are you going to try to get into the Indigo League?" Ash asked.
"Maybe," Jon said. "Honestly I really want to travel the regions. Maybe write about all the interesting places, people, and Pokémon." Jon looked around the field. "I have a friend in Sinnoh. Angie. She just turned 13 too and is getting her starter Pokémon from the professor there. I know she's going to get a really awesome Pokémon. Not saying Sarah, my Bellsprout, isn't cool, but I'd like to catch something awesome before we meet up and travel together."
"So not a Rattata," Ash said seeing some of the rat Pokémon in the field and his mind going to his own Rattata.
"No, could we go a bit deeper into the forest?" Jon asked. "I heard there are Ekens, Abra, and even Mankeys in the forest."
"Yeah, follow us," Misty said and the trio went deeper into the forest. Keeping their eyes out for Pokémon that Jon might be interested in catching. They did find an Ekens. "Okay, release your Bellsprout." Jon took out a pokeball and released the Pokémon. "Now you need to challenge…."
Misty couldn't finish her sentence as there was a loud noise. The Ekens went running into nearby grass. "What was that?" Jon asked
"Not normal," Ash said "Pikachu, let's check it out." Ash ran towards where the noise was coming from. Misty followed him in a second.
"Shouldn't we go away from the loud noise," Jon mumbled but followed the two anyway along with his Pokémon. He found them crouching down in some bushes. "Wh…." The words weren't out of Jon's mouth before Ash dragged him down to the ground and put a finger over his mouth. Then he pointed. Jon recognized the R. "Team Rocket."
"A couple of grunts, the ones in the black," Misty whispered.
"And the two in white are higher up," Ash said knowing the ones who wore white shirts were higher up the ranks like that Jesse and James they met in Mount Moon or Cassidy and Butch from Rocket Game Corner. These two Ash had never seen but had heard them being called Bonnie and Clyde.
"We need to get authorities here," Misty whispered going to back away but they cause when they saw the device Team Rocket was using and a Pokémon was being pulled in.
"That's Celebi," Ash whispered. "A legendary Pokémon. Guardian of the forest. Usually seen in Jotho." Ash noticed the look Misty gave her. "Had to do an essay on a legendary Pokémon a few years ago for school I choose Celebi. We can't let Team Rocket get Celebi."
"But we can't…" Jon stopped started as Ash ordered Pikachu to run out there and destroy the device Team Rocket was using on Celebi.
Pikachu running in fast and using Iron Tail on the device. It broke the device in two allowing Celebi to break free from the park holding him. The minute Celebi was free he teleported away. "What the…. Someone get that Pikachu," the one called Bonnie yelled.
"Thunderbolt," Ash yelled out and Pikachu shocked them.
"Run now," Misty said pushing Jon as Ash released Charmeleon as Pikachu ran on his shoulder.
"Give us some cover," Ash called his Charmeleon who used smokescreen and then ran with his trainer.
The three humans and Pokémon that were released ran through the forest until they literally bumped into someone. Part of them for a split second thought it was Team Rocket but was relieved when they saw Pokémon Rangers. Ash even recognizing the one Ranger Kelly.
"Where's the fire?" Ranger Kelly asked them and all three started talking at once. "Whoa, one at a time." Misty held up her hands to the boys and explained the situation herself to the ranger. Admittedly Ranger Kelly had the other rangers with her run over to where Misty indicated. "You two have a way of getting into trouble."
"Couldn't let them get Celebi," Ash said as the ranger indicated for them to follow her. "But I didn't think Celebi was usually in Kanto."
"I'm afraid Team Rocket might have upset the balance between humans and Pokémon," Ranger Kelly said. "And the legendries might be responding to that. But we need to get you three back to town."
"Oh, I never caught a Pokémon," Jon said sadly and looked up to see something purple in the trees. "What is that?"
"Aipom," Ranger Kelly said. "Not normally a Kanto Pokémon but a trainer who was retiring released an Aipom here. It mated and had a few others Aipom. We haven't seen reason to relocate them yet."
"Think we could stop and let Jon catch one?" Misty asked noticing the look in Jon's eyes.
"Quickly," Ranger Kelly said with a nod.
"How?" Jon asked.
"Aipom," Misty yelled out and the monkey looking Pokémon turned and looked down at them. "Want a battle with Jon?" Misty put an arm on Jon's shoulder. "If he wins you join his team?"
"Please," Jon said and Aipom jumped down onto the floor giving a nod. "Bellsprout, go." Bellsprout jumped forward and Aipom made the first using a sand attack. Jon ordered a vine whip which Aipom responded with a scratch. The two Pokémon throwing scratch and vine whip at each other for a while. Then Aipom fell back.
"Pokeball now," Misty said and Jon took out a pokeball and tossed it. It shook once, twice, and a third time and then locked out.
"Yes," Jon said jumping up and going to collect the pokeball. Bellsprout cheered as well.
"Nice job," Misty said. "You might want to train both on more moves." Jon gave a nod as Bellsprout jumped onto Jon's shoulder.
"Aipom, that was an interesting Pokémon," Ash said looking to see if he could find another, but Ranger Kelly directed them to leave. Ash returning Charmeleon since he wasn't needed out anymore before they got to the town.
Misty and Ash walked Jon home. Ian was waiting and Misty explained everything that happened to the father including Team Rocket. "Seems you got an adventure," Ian said as they sat in his living room and Ian took out the money handing it to Misty. "And Jon got a nice Pokémon. Your computer has been ringing. I think it's Angie."
Jon who had used a potion on both Pokémon and now had Aipom on his shoulder ran to the computer. Ash and Misty saw a girl with dark brown hair answer as Jon excitingly showed off Aipom as Ian went to get them both a drink. They tried to deny but he insisted. "Nice, hey Jon I have been thinking why don't you come here," Angie said. "Me and some girl named Dawn are getting our Pokémon next week from Professor Rowan. Then we can explore Sinnoh."
"Dad," Jon asked as Ian gave Ash and Misty a drink. The two thanking them and drinking before the drink hearing Jon plotting with Angie before leaving.
"I hope him and Angie have a great journey together," Ash said when they left. Misty knew part of him was thinking of the plans he had with Lita. "Just like me and you." Misty smiled as Ash completed his sentence. Pikachu made a sound. "And you Pikachu and all our Pokémon."
Misty then took half the money Ian gave her and gave it to Ash. "Huh?" Ash asked.
"It's half yours. You can risk it on a chance of making more from battles or buy Riolu a TM," Misty said giving him a nod. "I'm going to go plot on who I am using in the fire gym. See you in the room." Misty walked away from Ash as he looked at the money.
….
Later that day Ash walked into the room he and Misty were sharing in the Pokémon center. "Misty," Ash said as Pikachu jumped onto a bed. "Check my account."
Misty gave him a strange look and then went to look at Ash's account. "What?" Misty asked seeing so much more money in there. "How?"
"I asked Nurse Joy if there was anything I could do to earn money and she directed me to some farmers who needed help clearing their fields. I talked to them and mentioned those Tauros I caught…" Ash said.
"You sold a Tauros?" Misty asked.
"Rented," Ash said. "They need them for a few weeks. Paid me and Oak transferred two to the farmers. They will send them back to Oak when they are done."
"And you did this on your own?" Misty asked.
"I hear you talking," Ash said. "And I did get poison jab reusable TM for Riolu. Poison moves are cheap but effective. I thought about buying focus punch."
"I have focus punch," Misty said making Ash blink.
"And I guess I should listen more," Ash said and was shocked as Misty hugged him and kissed his cheek. Ash blushing a bit at that. "So, who are you using for the fire gym?"
"Krabby, Buizel, and Starmie," Misty said. "Call Oak and switched Totodile to get Starmie back. You?"
"Riolu, Charmeleon, and Rhydon," Ash said.
"You have a Rhydon?" Misty asked.
"Yep caught at the Safari Zone," Ash said with a smile. "Sent Butterfree back to the lab to get him. And he is powerful. Knows bulldoze, hammer arm, smack down, tackle, tail whip, horn attack. Plus, an egg move of dragon rush, but he can't use it yet. Maybe Charmeleon can help."
Misty smiled at Ash's excitement and decided not to point out he was planning on using a Pokémon he never trained in a gym battle.
Post Chapter Note: Misty and Ash meet up with Celebi. Anyway, I do want to explain that when I made Lita become a photographer the idea was to have a source of income so I never had to worry about money for the group. But when I decided Lita to split off I needed to come up with something else for Misty/Ash and I think I found out some interesting alternative. Hope you like.
