He had been traveling for hours, it seemed and the Temple was no closer.
His head was pounding sharply, getting worse with every minute passed. At a particularly vicious throb, he stumbled and fell, barely managing to catch himself on his hands and knees. He clutched at his head, the world spinning around him in nauseating streaks. White sparked in his vision and he squeezed his eyes shut, groaning. It felt like knives were being stabbed into them.
The Dark Side was pressing in on him, suffocatingly oppressive. It amplified gravity, pulling Obi-Wan down and crushing him to the dusty ground.
When he looked up, the Temple walls rose up before him, close enough to touch. He struggled to his feet, limbs shaky as a newborn eopie, and entered the Temple.
As he walked, he kept one hand on the wall, heading for the heart of the Temple, where the holocron had been stored on the real Zigoola. The corridors seemed to move, playing with his awareness, dead ends appearing where there had been none, new doors opening, and pathways changing direction.
And all the while, the voice in his head roared. DIE, JEDI. DIE, JEDI. DIE, JEDI.
Eventually he made it, stepping into the room where the holocron sat on its pedestal. Behind it on the dais, stood a figure in a dark robe.
Darth Sidious.
The door behind him shut and vanished as if it was never there. Trapping him in with the Sith.
"Master Kenobi. Nice of you to join me."
"What did you do?" He cautiously approached the dais, gaze flicking around the room for signs of a trap. This obviously was one, but how would it be sprung?
"You dream about Zigoola, don't you? It left its scars on your mind. I simply manifested them."
"What do you know about Zigoola?" His and Bail's trip had only been known to the Council.
"Ah, Obi-Wan. Who do you think left the holocron here? Who do you think sent you? You were meant to die on this planet. As it is, this is the last time you interfere with my plans." He flicked his fingers and chains shot up from the floor, wrapping tightly around Obi-Wan's ankles and wrists, pulling him to his knees. "You are much stronger than I gave you credit for, Jedi. Fortunately, that will not be enough to save you."
Sidious picked up the holocron and examined it for a moment. The Force swirled with power, the air growing several degrees colder, the chill sinking into Obi-Wan's bones and freezing the breath in his lungs. With a barely perceptible click, the holocron began to open, the red glow growing brighter.
Die, Jedi. Die, Jedi. Die, Jedi.
And then…
Pain.
Obi-Wan screamed.
The pain was all-consuming, ripping at his entire being, cold and sharp. It was nothing he'd ever felt before, and he was drowning in it. It was fire and ice, knives and whips and tearing, crushing, stabbing, freezing, burning…
And above it all, he could hear Sidious' malevolent cackle echoing around him.
