The Pokémon Journey

Lita's Pokémon:

The Ice Islands

Lita looked over the side of the boat wearing her heavy jacket and petting Nova who was on her. Since she had decided on her team she had been training them to take on the gym and she was feeling confident. Hestia had gotten use to her new body and power level. Even officially getting confuse ray down. Her fire moves were unbelievably powerful now. Unfortunately, her larger form meant she had to be in her luxury ball a bit more, especially on a boat like they were now. Thankfully Hestia did like her luxury ball and Lita was more thankful than ever she had decided to buy her one.

Poliwhirl was also going well. Lita had thought about giving him the water stone but her pokedex had confirmed he was not ready to evolve yet. The extra power for a gym battle was not worth rushing him and possibly damaging him in the long run. Lita had told him what he needed to reach to get the water stone and Poliwhirl was determined to get there. Nova had been training well, but was still shaky on the ice. Lita knew the evolution in Glaceon would take care of that but was still a bit nervous putting an ice type against an ice gym.

Rockruff had loved the iron head move and mastered it fast. Learning that move had helped her get a handle on iron tail. It was still weaker than iron head but workable. Stilely had been able to learn to skate on ice better. Emerald had been doing well too. Getting flamethrower down easily. Lita was feeling good about her team.

"Man, it's cold," it was Max coming up behind Lita with a cup in his hand.

"We got you hot chocolate," May said giving one of the cups she was holding to Lita who took the drink with a smile. "Ice bergs."

"They got to be careful around these waters. Many ships have hit an ice berg and sunk," Lita said.

"Why are these islands so cold?" Max asked.

"No one knows," Lita said. "It's an oddity. There's one bigger island and two smaller islands nearby that are just frozen. These are actually on the boarder of Kanto and the Orange Islands, but the island voted to join the Kanto Region. That's when the Ice Gym opened."

"Well we bumped into a crew member who said we would be docking soon," May said and Nova let out a cheer. "Then I can sign up for the contest." Lita smiled. May had been training a lot and seemed ready to take on this contest.

"Are you going to do your gym battle today?" Max asked.

"No, but I am going to evolve Nova," Lita said giving Nova a pet as she continued drinking her hot chocolate. "I'm going to wait until after the contest to challenge the gym. Give Nova time to adjust to her new body."

"Putting ice against ice," Max said. "You nervous."

"Nope," Lita said. "I believe in my Pokémon and they believe in me. We'll do this." The three continued to talk strategy for both the contest and gym battle before they heard an announcement they were heading for the dock. More people came out onto deck to see the island that came around. It was a beautiful island covered in white. The mountain on it were covered in snow and ice as well.

The ship docked soon and the group headed out and to the Pokémon center. They gave a quick call to home to let their families know they arrived fine then went over to Nurse Joy. They got a room in the center and May registered for the contest.

"Nurse Joy, where is the rock that can evolve Eevee?" Lita asked.

"Ah, becoming a Glaceon," Joy said and Nova gave out a cheer at that. "You're going to need to rent snowmobiles to get there. We have a few outback that you can rent and I can show you how to work them and give you a map."

"Works, May, Max, you two coming?" Lita asked.

"Yes," the two siblings said together and they paid Nurse Joy for use of the snowmobiles. Nurse Joy gave them a tutorial on how to work them and a map and soon the three were off. Max riding on back of May's since he was too young to rent one of his own.

Nurse Joy went back to work and a while later an Officer Jenny came in. "Nurse Joy," Jenny said. "There's a storm coming in. Might want buckle down and tell all trainers not to go out."

"I didn't see anything on the weather report?" Joy asked.

"Appeared out of nowhere. We're in for a bad one though," Jenny said.

"Thanks for telling me," Joy said and then paused. "Officer." She called before Jenny left. "Two trainers and a younger boy just went off to evolve an Eevee into a Glaceon. They're heading onto the mountain area."

"That's not good. I'll get on my snowmobile and see if I can catch them before the storm. Do you have their names?" Jenny asked.

Joy flipped through the paper to get the ones Lita and May had signed. "May Maple and I believe her little brother was Max and Lita Ketchum."

"Ketchum?" Jenny asked taking the papers. "Lita Ketchum. She's Champion Lance's niece. Champion has sent a request to all my family to keep an eye out for her and her cousin. I need to tell my deputy to send him a message and get out there fast." Jenny ran out of the Poke Center fast.

….

Lita and May drove the snowmobiles in the direction Nurse Joy indicated and the map directed them. It was slightly up hill, but the two were having fun. It wasn't exactly on the mountain, but close. "I wonder what Pokémon are up there," Max said.

"We have seen a lot of interesting ice types," May said and Lita had to agree. She stopped once or twice to take a picture.

"There it is," Lita said as she stopped her snowmobile. May stopping next to her.

It was a giant white rock that looked like a block of ice but this rock would cause Nova to evolve. Lita taking her camera and taking a picture of the rock as Nova jumped down running towards it. "Nova," Lita said making the Eevee stop. "You're not going to evolve with that still around your neck."

The collar with the Everstone was still on Nova and the Pokémon seemed embarrassed as Lita went to take it off. She putting it in her bag. Everstones were the one stone that could be reused after all. Lita pet the Eevee and gave her a kiss. "Go," Lita said.

"This is so exciting," Max said as Lita held up her camera and took pictures as Nova approached the large rock.

Nova slowly went to put her paw on the rock and then started to glow. Lita continued to take pictures as Nova got bigger and soon the glow stopped and Nova was now a Glaceon. Lita taking a couple of pictures of her afterward and then went to hug her starter.

"You're so beautiful," May said coming up to Nova and petting her.

"We got some work to do before our gym battle," Lita said to her Pokémon who gave a cheer. "We should head back…." Lita passed turning around. "Where's Max?"

"What?" May asked turning around to find her little brother was not where he had been. "We turned for a second? Where could he have gotten?"

"We really should put a bell on him," Lita said and May tried not to laugh. "He could not have gotten far. Come on let's look."

The two started looking around and calling Max. Not hearing anything back or seeing the young boy. The wind and snow started to pick up making it hard to see. "I think we're in for a storm. We should move back," Lita said.

"I got to find Max," May said. "MAX."

"Max," Lita yelled as well moving forward but barely able to see and then trip and started to tumble down a hill. Her yelling out in pain as she stopped.

"Lita," May said moving forward but Nova stopped her. "Don't want to fall." May got it. "How do I get down."

There was another noise and May turned around to see a tiny brown Pokémon that her pokedex called a Swinub. "You going to show us how to get to my friend?" May asked as the wind continued to pick up and the Pokémon seemed to agree and May decided to follow it.

The little Pokémon brought them down a safer route and to Lita who was still laying on the floor. Snow was starting to cover her and May took it over her. "Can you stand?" May asked as Glaceon came up on Lita's other side.

"Not on my own," Lita said.

"I'm sorry," May said. "We should have gone back and gotten help to find Max."

"It's not your fault. I would have done the same thing for Ash. Max on the other hand if we ever find him I might kill him," Lita said. "Help me."

May pulled Lita up and then let her lean on her. "This storm is getting bad," May said as the little Swinub was still with her. "We better find a cave or something for shelter. Can you help us little one?" The Swinub made a noise and started to move. May helping Lita limp after them and Glaceon moving ahead of them as well.

The wind and snow getting worst as they moved. "What's that?" Lita asked moving her camera to her face and zooming in. "Oh crap. It's Team Rocket." Lita continued taking pictures and then moved it up the device to see what they were trying to take. It was an Articuno with devices around it. metal wires trying to drag Articuno to a device. "Articuno. We need to save her."

Swinub made a noise. "I think that's what this one wants us to do," May said as Lita took one arm and released all her Pokémon.

"Poliwhirl hold me up," Lita said. The snow and wind was overshadowing them and their voices. "May, me and my Pokémon will distract Team Rocket. You and Swinub sneak around and free Articuno."

"What?" May asked.

"I can't, you need to," Lita said and Swinub gave a noise and started moving. May giving a look before following the little Pokémon. "Hestia, Nova, Emerald, Stilely, and Rockruff, I need you five to attack Team Rocket now. Poliwhirl I need you to help me stand." Lena was leaning against the Pokémon who was holding her up now. "And go."

Hestia and Nova were fast in using their most powerful attacked. Emerald joining them with a flamethrower as well. Rockruff and Stilely running in with their attacks as well. The grunts yelling and turning around. "I don't think Articuno is going with you," Lita said.

"What do we have here," it was two people wearing white shirts. Lita knew they were the next level over the grunts. "Cassidy, what do you think?"

"I think it's a trainer in over her head, Butch," Cassidy said. "Back away now little girl. But we'll take your Dratini."

Emerald gave a call out. "Attack," Lita said not caring what attack her Pokémon threw out just wanting to attack. The grunts and Cassidy and Butch let out their own Pokémon. Lita putting weight on her right leg groaning in pain. It was really hurting. "Poliwhirl join them."

Poliwhirl jumped in to attack as Lita groaned in pain. It was a while of battling with each other before they heard an explosion. Everyone from Team Rocket turning around to see May there with Swinub and her other Pokémon out. They had destroyed the device holding Articuno. With the base of the device destroy Articuno broke free.

Now free from whatever that device had been doing to stop Articuno from using her powers against them was gone. The grunts and Team Rockets Pokémon were knocked out and Cassidy and Butch were thrown up in the air. May, Lita, and all their Pokémon plus Swinub was left alone.

Lita falling to the floor and May running over to her. "Are you okay?" May asked coming next to Lita.

"My leg," Lita said.

Around them the snow and wind stopped and Articuno came up to them. Lita picking up her camera and taking pictures. Articuno seeming to understand and staying still. Then Articuno looked up in the air and released an attack that was flashy.

"That was confusing," May said.

"But a nice picture," Lita said and then blinked as several Pokémon landed near them. Articuno had sent a single up for them and Lita noticed one of the Pokémon that landed was her Uncle Lance and his Dragonite. The rescue party was staring at Articuno before the legendary Pokémon flew away. Lita continuing to take pictures until she was out of sight.

"Articuno?" Lance asked.

"Uncle Lance, what are you doing here?" Lita asked.

"Officer Jenny sent an alert out you were missing in a storm. I was nearby," Lance said. "And Articuno."

"There are some Team Rocket grunts and their Pokémon unconscious in the snow," Lita said pointing at the pile Articuno had made. "And I am pretty sure I can't walk. I might have broken a bone or something in my ankle or leg."

"And my brother is still missing," May added remembering they had been looking for Max when Lita fell and they had discovered Team Rocket and Articuno.

"We found him," Lance said. "Officer Jenny took him back to the Poke Center. Return your Pokémon." Lita thanked all her Pokémon and returned them all to their balls. May as well returning hers. Lance giving orders to the others to collect Team Rocket.

"Thank you," May said to Swinub and gave him a pet. Swinub rubbed against her. "Would you like to come with me?" Swinub let out a noise and May took out an empty pokeball and Swinub went in and was caught right away. The pokeball then teleported away. "Where did he go?"

"You have six Pokémon," Lita said as Lance went to pick her up. Lita putting her arm Lance's neck. "He was teleported to whoever watches your Pokémon you can't keep on your team."

"Um… I think my parents," May said remembering the Pokémon limit as Lance put Lita on his Dragonnite and she herself was helped onto another flying Pokémon.

….

When they got back to the Pokémon center May hugged Max and then yelled at him for wandering off. She then went to call her parents and Swinub was sent to them. May decided to send them Skitty to bring Swinub to her team. A doctor had come to look over Lita and do an x-ray.

While they waited for the report May and Lita told Lance all about Team Rocket. Lita showing all the pictures she had taken. "Well, this confirms it to me," Lance said. "Team Rocket is after the legendries."

"What are you going to do?" Lita asked. She was sitting on a chair with her right leg up.

Before Lance could answer the Doctor came back out. "Well it's not broken," the doctor said holding up the x-ray. "But there is a tear." The doctor pointed out what he was talking about on the x-ray. "I'm going to be putting a soft cast on it and giving you crutches. It should heal in about a month, but until then you need to rest it."

"Meaning you're going to need to go back to Pallet Town," Lance said and May pouted. She liked having Lita with them.

"What about my gym battle?" Lita asked. "I came all the way here. Prepared my team."

"There's no reason she can't do the gym battle," a new voice said and a woman had walked in. She was tall with white hair and Lita knew from videos this was the Ice Gym Leader Bianca. "I'm not accepting gym battles until after the contest. She can rest here and be my first battle the day after the contest."

"Please Uncle Lance," Lita said. "I want to watch May compete as well."

Lance looked between the two girls. Both giving him sad eyes. "Fine, but I am staying here with you and after your gym battle I am bringing you home win or lose," Lance said.

"Thank you," Lita said letting out a breath as the doctor went back to work getting a cast for her.

Post Chapter Note: well first chapter after a while. I had school but finished that today so this is a celebration of being done with school for a while.
