Lumos!
Wow, it's been a very long time since I've written that at the top of a page, but with this story specifically it felt very appropriate somehow. Most of my important talking points follow at the end of the chapter, but I just wanted to leave a small note here to tell everyone that the three stories I've chosen to focus on for the time being are this one, Home (Second Chapter to this in currently deep in progress) and finally A Different Sort of Light (Not as deep into it as I am with Home but that's well on its way too) Thank you everyone and I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Disclaimer: I don't own any part of Harry Potter, decided to play in the sandbox for a little while is all.
PROLOGUE - THE CAELIN WAR
A huge wave of dark amethyst energy streaked through the air, it rapidly gained speed as it approached its target, the figure concealed by a hooded white cloak avoiding the blast by only a hair the cape portion of the garment flowing in the wind, "You missed me, that's bad form."
"Curse you, insolent child!"
The figure's non discernible facial expression moved toward his opponent and he rose a hand, crying out, "Φωτεινή απελευθέρωση: Ενεργειακή Δέσμη!" flowing golden energy emanated from the core of the hooded one's hand, several symbols lined the circumference of the summoned magic circle and from its center, a bolt of lightning cackled inside, then a solid beam erupted from the core. It zipped across the sky in a similar way to the beam of darkness and, just like with the spell he dodged, the mysterious opponent eased himself out of the way of the attack, dodging it entirely.
"Dammit," the hooded one cursed under his breath.
"Ανεμος: Βίαιος τυφώνας!"
The hooded figure barely had any opportunity to register that the attack was coming, but thanks to a quick reflex, he was able to push off the ground backward, almost gliding back across the floor and away from the violent wind magic that had been thrown at his enemy.
"Mind watching where you throw that thing, Aeras!?"
"Wh-whoops, sorry Photas!"
Photas sighed, of all the times for Aeras to charge into the fight without considering his surroundings, now had to be the worst time of it all. He reached up and took hold of the clip holding his cloak together and swiftly undid it, allowing it to fall from his shoulders to reveal a man slightly above average height. His sparkling hazel eyes locked onto his enemy and a brazen smirk curled up on his lips, "Guess there's no need for that disguise now is there?"
"Photas!" The monster growled deeply, "How I detest you!"
"Not as much as everyone detests the look of your face. Aeras, now!"
"Άνεμος: Χτύπησε ο τυφώνας!"
Photas wasn't close enough to Aeras to see the magic circle the Wind user called forth in all its minute details, but he could make out in the vaguest sense a circle similar to the one he'd utilized when calling forth his light magic. Violent gales of wind energy blasted out of the circles core and whipped around Aeras' fist until it formed the shape of a particularly large hand. Aeras pulled it back and the hand closed into a fist.
"You're done for, ugly!"
Photas knew this was the opportunity they'd been waiting for, an attack like that would surely give them an opening, shouldn't it? This enemy was unlike anything they'd ever faced. Up until this battle, they had mostly gone unchallenged. Whoever they'd been dealing with quickly backed down each time they reached an understanding of what they were up against, but Del. Del was different. He'd combated them at every turn and they'd lost to him more than they had won.
"Photas, concentrate!"
A rush of violently moving water streamed in from the adjacent doorway, this captured the man's attention and he leaped out of the way as quickly as he thought his body might carry him. His head whipped around and fell upon a man with greying black hair and a focused look in his eye, "You alright?" the man called.
"Yeah, I just lost my head for a moment, sorry Nero."
"You should be! One slip is all it takes in a battle like this!"
A sudden roar pulled Nero and Photas into the present, Del's tail slapped a nearby boulder and shattered it clean in half. Almost no effort being used for the motion at all. This monster - This monster was no joke, they would have no choice.
"Aeras, Nero, fall back," Photas commanded.
"But-you can't fight him alone!" Aeras protested.
"That's an order," Photas added forcefully.
He took a lone step forward, his eyes locked onto Del, everything else in the room slipped away from him. Lightning began to cackle around Photas' body, his eyes shimmering between their current shade and one much brighter.
"Θεότητα Ενδυνάμωση: Δίας!"
Lightning collided with his body, spreading throughout his veins and slowly it altered his appearance. Photas now had glowing golden hair and bright aquamarine eyes. His upper left arm was covered in bright platinum colored armor and several bindings of leather were strapped around the same arm leading down into the golden sword gripped in his fingertips.
"This fight is just you and me," Photas told Del, "The others are no longer involved."
"Wh-what we d-"
Golden energy rose from the ground and slowly shaped itself into the shape of a cage, complete with a latch and padlock holding it shut.
"I'm sorry my friends, you can't transform for very long yet, I cannot in good conscience put you through this knowing that. I'll take things from here."
Harry Potter woke up with a start. He fumbled around for his glasses then, once he had located them, promptly shoved them onto his face and sat up in bed. What was all of that? It was certainly a vivid dream, but it was unlike anything he'd ever witnessed. Magic, but in an ancient form? He had to assume this was the case, he didn't recognize any of the incantations that the men inside the dream had used. He could vividly remember their names too, Photas, Aeras, Nero. That in itself was rather strange because he never really held onto dreams so closely. They came and went in variations but it was usually events that his brain kept and not specific individuals, but perhaps they had been incredible enough that his memory decided they were worth keeping.
"Photas, Nero, Aeras," Harry murmured. The sound of the names seemed to roll off his tongue, like he'd been speaking them for years. It felt natural, like perhaps in some strange way they were kindred spirits of sorts. But perhaps that was down to the similarities the four of them shared, he too had combated an unbelievable enemy recently. He had been nowhere near the skill level of the three in his dream, his experience was far more tame than the kind of magic they'd been throwing around. The sound of their words was not something he felt he could easily translate into written form, nor did he have the confidence to pronounce it so that Hermione might be able to. Hermione Granger was one of Harry's best friends from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He was due to return in a few short weeks for the start of his second year.
Knock! Knock!
Harry would have to worry about the dream at a later point in time, he conceded. The Dursleys wouldn't tolerate an entire stoppage of his responsibilities around their home simply because of a dream. He'd remembered only too well what had happened the last time serious dreams relating to magic had been a regular occurrence in his life. The Giant, and another of Harry's friends from Hogwarts, the Groundskeeper Hagrid astride the back of a flying motorcycle. A recount of which had seen Harry locked in his cupboard without access to any meals for a week. He highly doubted a group of hooded figures wielding incredible magical powers would be received any better than the man on the flying motorcycle was.
"Coming, Aunt Petunia."
End Prologue
This was kind of short but I'm slowly getting back to hopefully bringing myself up to a point I can write more and more. So, a little more information on this story. The base premise is around a story I wrote many, many years ago when I was much younger. It was my first taste of Fanfiction writing and it taught me a lot but it's been a long time since it's been featured anywhere and I no longer have the original manuscript. I decided that I have two options, I could try and rewrite it as it was originally, or try something new and as you can probably guess, I've gone for the latter. This version of the story will feature more of an emphasis on magic rather than crossover abilities that the previous iteration relied heavily upon and there'll be other differences too, including an entirely new lineup for the Caelin. I won't say more because I'm not in the business of spoiling my own stories but I hope you'll give this story a chance. Also, I feel it important to mention this for those who read the original, the M rating is retained from the original but I don't intend to have the characters using profanity in everything they say. There will be bad language when the situation calls for it, but like I said above not in every single sentence thrown onto the page.
Thank you for listening to my spiel and if you have any suggestions whether it be ships you want to see or otherwise, please leave a review! I'd love to hear your feedback! Thank you so much for reading if you've made it this far!
Nox!
