Summary
What if Elena said she had no romantic feelings towards Damon. What would have happened?Murder One 3x18 AU
"Hey," Elena says walking into Stefan's room.
"Hey." Stefan flashed a small smile as he looked down at the stake.
"You haven't said much since you got back home." Elena said, standing by the door frame.
"I'll be a ball of sunshine once Damon gets Alaric's stake back. Promise." Elena scoffs, looking towards the side.
"You really scared me today. If you went up against Klaus alone. You know that, right?" She walks towards him with her hands in her pocket.
"Mmm." "Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore." Stefan looked over to the side and then back at her.
"Why?" Elena questioned raising her eyebrow.
"Because he's not worth it. All that time and energy that I've wasted on hating him. It was for nothing. it's done. it's over, we lost. I'm right back where I started." He looked down as he said that.
"That's not true. Yeah, Klaus dragged you through hell. But you came out the other side. You beat him by being better than him." Elena walk toward him as she tried to convince him he was better and more compassionate than Klaus.
"And what did I lose in the process?" Elena knew he meant her, but she also knew she never lost hope and it was worth it in the end. Stefan got up from his bed and move to Elena, meeting her gaze.
"Look hating Klaus was easy. It allowed me to ignore everything that was happening around me. Everything that I let slip away. Now I have to deal with that."
"Stefan..."
"No, just admit it. Admit it to me, Elena. I know you don't owe it to me, but I just need to hear you say it."
"I-I can't because it's not true. Stefan...I never stopped loving you."
"I know that. I know you didn't. Even though I did... everything possible to push you away. It's my fault. It's all my fault. I mean, this was all my fault." Stefan turned around looking at his bed.
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about the fact that you're also in love with Damon." He turned around as he said this, looking at Elena carefully.
"What? No Stefan, I was just-" She was cut off as Stefan continued to say.
"Hey, I love you. I will always love you. I just want you to look me in the eye and tell me...that you don't feel something for him." Stefan said coming closer he was inches from her face. He then cupped her face softly rubbing her cheeks.
"I don't since the moment I've met you I haven't. It felt like love at first sight... Damon is a great friend but I don't love him. And I don't feel the same way towards him as I do for you. I love you. I always have and I always will. You know I wouldn't give up on you I didn't before and I haven't now. Elena said, looking into his green orbs. Stefan smiled, he looked into her brown orbs as well and they both leaned into a soft and passionate kiss.
"Uh, finally.!" Damon started dramatically as he leaned on the door frame. he walts towards the pair and says "I was hoping the flirting and that kiss would make you jealous and get somewhat of emotion-stirring" Stefan stared hard at Damon as he walked back in a circle and then faced the pair with a smirk starting to form on his pale face.
Don't worry brother, I'm not interested I got another girl for me." Damon said smirking with a devilish grin.
Elena was holding onto Stefan's shoulder, she looked down pondering, and then like a lightbulb, she realized Damon meant Bonnie.
"You like Bonnie!" Elena said in realization.
"Your smart, I'll see you two love birds around! Damon said waving as he turned around heading down the stairs."
"And Damon..." Elena trailed off.
"Yes, Elena?" He asked innocently, but with a sly smile as he turned to look over his shoulder.
"If you hurt her I will come for you, got it," Elena said with venom almost malice in her voice. Stefan and Damon had never seen her like this before. As she said those words that Sly smile was whipped off his face and his complexion looked comparable to a ghost.
"Umm... Yes of course!" Damon said in his normal voice with a tinge of fear and with a fake smile trying his best not to show any ounce of scarce.
"Good," Elena said with a quick smile as she completely changed her tone and expression. Damon walked down the stairs, heading for the Bennett house to ask a certain witch a very special question.
"How does a walk sound, Lena?" Stefan asked holding her hand. "Perfect," Elena said smiling as they headed downstairs and outside.
