The nine-and-a-half-hour drive of the vacation has begun. The first place they went to is Los Angeles, California, the mine of film and television. They first check into a hotel they reserved for four days. The first day there was going around Los Angeles to check the sights, which included going to the Santa Monica pier to ride the Ferris wheel and roller coaster there, Grauman's Chinese Theatre, The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (which opened just a week ago), and of course, the one thing that everybody looks forward to when they get to Los Angeles, the Hollywood Walk of Fame. After seeing the sights, the group would turn in for the night. For the next two days, they go to Six Flags Magic Mountain, where they would ride all the rollercoasters there, as well as a few regular rides there. On the fourth day, Max and Sarah left the hotel early. They told the group that they would be heading out for a personal matter they have to do. The personal matter was a thirty-minute drive to The Shepherd Mansion.
They arrive at the mansion. They meet Jill and her two kids. After having a conversation with them, Max and Sarah head to the backyard where the Shepherd family had built a cemetery for the Road Rovers. The team throughout the years had been considered to be legends, the tales that the children's parents would tell them about. Every now and then, there will be an article, whether it be in a magazine or the internet, about the Road Rovers and all the accomplishments the team did. With the rise of the internet and social media, the team grew a fan base. This fan base was not only of people who were fans of the team since the beginning but also people who had just discovered about them in the number of years the team disbanded. There are a lot of people in the public that feel the Road Rovers should just be forgotten since the world knows how to figure out its problems without a team of dogs being there. This fan base has hopes, as well as a few people of the public, that one day the team will come back and protect the world from terrorists who are bent on world domination.
Max, carrying a plastic bag of things he bought while in Los Angeles before they left to be here, walks ahead of Sarah, who is carrying sixteen red roses. Max sees the first section of the cemetery, dedicated to the Space Rovers. He sees the first three members, Persia, Duke, and Molly.
Max: Hello, Space Rovers. It's nice seeing all of you.
Max pulls out three Holy Bibles and three necklaces and puts them on each of the tombstones, with the necklaces sitting on top of the Bibles. Sarah puts one rose on each tombstone.
Max: I still appreciate you guys for helping me out when I attempted to kill myself. I couldn't have picked a better group of therapists than you guys. I hope you're waiting for me up there with your members and the rest of the team.
Max heads over to the second section of the cemetery, which is dedicated to the rest of the Road Rovers team and its affiliates. Max first spots a tombstone of Sport, an unofficial member Max only knew for a few days during the final mission of the team; they had to stop Parvo, Max's father, from killing the world population. Max nods to the tombstone, moving on to the team that meant the world to him, the Road Rovers that resided in the United States. He walks by each of them, nodding to each one he passes by. He reaches the end, noticing an empty spot in between Kai and Rejean. He reaches to Javier's tombstone, smiling upon it. He smiles at every tombstone after Javier's.
Max: Hello, Javier. I have something for you.
Max pulls out a Taco Bell hot sauce packet and puts it on Javier's tombstone. Sarah puts a rose on the tombstone
Max: I know how much you loved Taco Tuesday. I hope you're having plenty of them up there.
Max heads to Rejean's tombstone.
Max: Hello, Rejean.
Max pulls out a book titled Fluent Forever: How to Learn Any Language Fast and Never Forget It. He puts it on Rejean's tombstone, while Sarah puts a rose on top of the book.
Max: I know you're still speaking all the languages of the world up there. Maybe you can teach me a few new words.
Max heads to Kai's tombstone.
Max: Hey, Kai. I know you don't need these anymore, but...
Max pulls out black shades, similar to the ones Kai wore to help make him see, for Kai was blind thanks to his drunken owner cutting his eyes with a katana. He puts the shades on Kai's tombstone and Sarah puts a rose next to the shades.
Max: ...it makes you look cool.
Max heads to Shag's tombstone.
Max: Hello, Shag.
Max pulls out a spatula and places it on Shag's tombstone and Sarah puts a rose near the spatula.
Max: I know how much you loved to cook for the team. I hope they don't have toilet water up there.
Max chuckles to himself as he heads for Scout's (formerly known as Muzzle) tombstone.
Max: Hello, Scout.
Max pulls out a muzzle and places it on Scout's tombstone with Sarah putting a rose near the muzzle.
Max: I just hope you're not Muzzling anyone. That's all I need to see.
Max heads to Blitz's tombstone.
Max: Hello, Blitz, also known as Weird Boy.
Max pulls out a nail filer and places it on Blitz's tombstone.
Max: I know how much you took care of your nails...
Max pulls out a box of dental floss and a toothpick and puts them on the tombstone.
Max: ...as well as those teeth, and...
Max pulls out a small mirror and places it on the tombstone.
Max: ...you always admired the way you look.
As Max heads to Exile's tombstone, Sarah puts a rose on Blitz's tombstone.
Max: Hello, Exile.
Max pulls out a glass cup and places it on Exile's tombstone, with Sarah putting a rose near the cup.
Max: You can pour yourself a drink and put some ice in it by yourself. You can even warm it up. Just don't melt the glass.
Max heads to a tombstone that was big enough for three people to be listed on it. They were, in order, Hunter, Dash, and Colleen. He starts to get teary-eyed.
Max: Hey, guys. I got you three roses.
Max and Sarah put each of the roses on the tombstone. Max sees the grave of William F. Shepherd. On the tombstone, an engraved paragraph is written: "Beloved father, husband, and master". Max takes the last rose and places it on the tombstone.
Max: This is the last one, Master.
Max stands back a bit and after looking around the cemetery and back to Shepherd's, he breathes in and out.
Max: I miss you guys.
Max pulls out his wallet and pulls out a photo from out one of the sleeves. It was a photo the team took of at some point. All of the members are smiling in the photo, including Max. Shepherd can be seen in the background, having a light smile on his face. Max stares at the photo and then moves his watering eyes to the tombstones. Sarah notices her husband's watering eyes and hugs him.
Sarah: I'm sure they all are waiting for you, honey.
Max looks at Sarah and smiles, wiping his eyes.
Max: I think so too, baby.
Max hugs Sarah.
Max: Well, it was nice catching up with you all. Same time, next time. Okay?
Max and Sarah leave the cemetery and go back to the Sprinter. They drive out of the forest to pick up the kids at the hotel that they're staying at. They then drive to Arizona where they will stay for two days. The two days were spent at the Grand Canyon to witness the sights that whatever it was that decided to create a beautiful ravine such as the Grand Canyon.
It is June 27th, 2021 at 6:00 PM, the group arrived in Soccoro, New Mexico to stay at a hotel for the night, before heading back home. Chris and Claire are in their hotel room, with Chris holding a DSLR camera, speaking to it. Claire is lying on the bed listening to Billie Eilish.

Chris puts his hand on the lens and pauses for a few seconds. He stops recording. Claire removes her Beats headphones and chuckles.
Chris: What? You don't support your brother being a YouTuber?
Claire: Oh, no, I do. It's just you act like you're going to be a sensation.
Chris: Well, you got to have a personality. Besides, both of my channels are doing all right. My gaming channel is getting close to 100,000 subscribers now.
Claire looks over at her brother.
Claire: Do you have plans for a '100,000 subscriber special'?
Chris smiles.
Chris: I do, actually. But it's a secret, so-
Chris gets interrupted by a knock on the door. Claire gets out of her bed and opens it to see Rahul, Liam, and Ali.
Claire: Oh, hey, guys.
They all smile.
Ali: Ello Pawka's.
The three come in, with Liam sitting on a chair and getting out an electronic drawing pad to draw a comic he's been working on for a few months. Chris goes over to Liam to see what he's drawing.
Chris: Still drawing that comic, Liam?
Liam moves his drawing pad away from Chris.
Liam: Yer, but I'd prefah if no one sees it until it is finished.
Chris chuckles.
Chris: Don't worry, Jack Kirby, I'm not going to leak it to the public.
Liam: I'm sah ya won't.
Rahul: Hey, do you two want to hear something cool?
This catches the attention of Chris and Claire. Chris walks up to Rahul.
Chris: What would interest us for you to tell me something 'cool'?
Ali: Ow about this, Chwis? Me and Wahul wa' out walking in the dessa't and we came acwoss this cwata' with a ole in the middle of it.
Chris and Claire stare blankly.
Claire: What?
Rahul: In proper English, that means me and him found this crater with a hole in the middle of it.
Chris: Why tell us though?
Liam: He wants us ta take us out todee ta see wat is down that hole.
Rahul: Yeah. We talked into the girls coming with us. Just imagine what we could find, Chris. Gold, diamond, or if a meteor caused that crater, we might find pieces of it and we could sell it. I read it's worth 1,000 per gram. Imagine how much we can find and sell it to someone for a lot of money?
Chris: I don't know, Rahul. I'm not really the spelunker type. I kind of want to have it stay that way.
Ali: Come on, guys. Think about it, if we find a lot of meteo', we can easily pay fo' oa' college tuitions with that kind of money.
Claire: But, Ali, we can easily make that much when we're in college with regular nine to five jobs.
Ali: Not if we'we paid one thoozand ev'y day.
Chris and Claire look at each other.
Rahul: I brought the equipment needed to get us all down there. I taught all of you to rock climb a couple of years ago. It's a pretty deep hole, but I think the rope will be long enough for the bottom. Come on, where's your sense of adventure?
Chris sighs.
Chris: Fine, but we're back here after an hour, not any later.
Rahul: You have my word, Chris. We're not going to be out for long. Besides, if we're lucky, we'll make it in time to go back swimming in the indoor pool.
Chris nods and pulls out his iPhone 12 and goes through his contacts. He sees his father's phone number and calls it. Max and Sarah are in their hotel room watching TV. A phone rings. Max picks up his iPhone 12 to see Chris' name. He answers the call.
Max: Yeah, son?
Chris: Hey, Dad. Claire, me and our friends are going out to have some fun in town. Shopping, selfies, maybe order a pizza or two. Is it okay with you and Mom?
Max puts the phone down and looks at Sarah.
Sarah: They're going to be adults soon. I think they can take care of themselves.
Max thinks it over. He puts the phone back in his ear.
Max: All right, son. You guys have all the fun you want. Just be careful and be back here before 10:00.
Chris smiles.
Chris: Okay, Dad. We'll be careful. Got to go. Love you, Dad. Tell Mom I love her.
Max smiles.
Max: I love you too, son.
They both hang up. Chris looks at Rahul.
Chris: All right, let's go find some meteor.
Rahul smiles and hugs Chris.
Rahul: I'm certain you won't regret this, Chris.
Rahul lets go of Chris.
Rahul: Were you being serious about the pizza?
Chris: Of course I am. It will be a celebration.
Rahul nods.
Rahul: I'll go get everything ready. We'll meet you in the lobby.
Chris nods. The three leave the room, leaving with Chris and Claire getting ready. They put on some appropriate attire for rock climbing, as do the rest of the group. After they get ready, Chris and Claire make it to the lobby. They meet the rest of the group. Rahul, who is carrying a backpack, smiles.
Rahul: Hey, guys. In here I got the stuff we need for our expedition. Let's go have some fun.
Chris and Claire nod as they walk out of the hotel and into town. They walk around to get out of town until they reach the desert. Rahul leads them to a desert path that is familiar to him and Ali.
Rahul: Here's the path Ali and I took. It should be another ten minutes to get to the crater.
Chris: Oh, that's fine, Rahul. I'm already getting a workout from this heat.
Claire: Couldn't be any different than when you were on the football team.
Chris: Or you when you did varsity swimming with Iris before she got asthma, thanks to...
Iris looks at Rahul and then back to Chris.
Iris: It's nothing, Chris. I'm sure it will go away soon. I remember I used to hold my breath longer than Claire or anyone on the team.
Iris takes out her inhaler and uses it.
Iris: So, I decided to have marine biology be my goal. I always did have a love for the ocean.
Patricia: Jasmine and I were cheerleaders for football team.
Jasmine chuckles.
Jasmine: Yeah. "Let's go Leopards! Give me an L!
Patricia: "Give me E"!
Patricia and Jasmine chuckle.
Jasmine: Patricia and I had a fun time doing that. It was hard but we enjoyed it. Now she and I want to be in the medical field. Me being a nurse.
Patricia: And me being pediatrician. I always wanted to help kids ever since I went to pediatric hospital to hang out with kids that have cancer.
Ali: I was a basketball playa'. I ad a blast dwibbling the ball. Afta' all, I got the team into the championship and with teamwo'k, we won. I now want to be an enginea' to make vehicles.
Liam: I'm the most bawrin' one out of ya all. I did golf.
Chris chuckles a bit.
Chris: Come on, man. You're not boring.
Liam: I know. The mawah contact spawrts feel liyyke excuses fawr people ta beat me up. I nevah was any good at spawrts liyyke baseball awr football awr any of that. Any spawrt weah people weren't violently bumpin' into me was a good spawrt fawr me. But, I always loved comic books liyyke Mahrvel 'n DC. So, I want ta be a comic book ahrtist, eithah fawr big companies liyyke those two awr be an independent ahrtist.
Chris: I want to be a research scientist.
Claire: So do I. Chris and I want to follow in our parents' footsteps and work for LIFE Corporation. We always looked up to our parents like they were our heroes, especially when they made the vaccine that would put the flu pandemic to an end. We want to be like that, always help the public no matter what.
Chris smiles and shakes Claire's head, making her giggle.
Chris: I don't think I can say that any better.
Chris looks at Rahul.
Chris: And no secret as to what Rahul wants to be. Photographer.
Rahul smiles.
Rahul: Yep. Always loved taking pictures ever since I took a picture of the Taj Mahal back in India. I too wasn't much of a sportsman, so I joined with Liam on the golf team.
Rahul can see the crater ahead of him.
Rahul: Ah, there it is!
Rahul starts to run with the rest of the group following suit. They approach the crater and are surprised at how big the crater is.
Chris: Woah. This must be one heck of a meteor to cause a crater this big.
Claire sees the hole at the bottom, noticing how small the hole is compared to the crater.
Claire: But if this was a big meteor, why would it make a deep hole that small?
Rahul shrugs.
Rahul: Not sure. I'm not an astronomer.
Rahul looks down at the edge and slides his foot on the flat rocky cliff.
Rahul: This is smooth enough for us to walk down it. Just be careful.
Rahul slowly walks down the crater, along with the rest of the group. They slowly walk down, making sure not to slip and fall. After a while, they arrive at the hole. Rahul bends down and starts putting the equipment down.
Rahul: All right everyone, grab a helmet.
Everybody grabs a helmet. Rahul puts a GoPro on his helmet.
Chris: What's that GoPro for?
Rahul: To give the news amazing footage.
Rahul looks at Chris.
Rahul: Plus, I like to record my rock climbing. You never know what you'll get with a camera.
Chris nods as clips his helmet on. Rahul sets everything up for the descent, which took him fifteen minutes. After making sure everyone is secured with their harnesses and the necessary equipment to make sure they safely descent, Rahul throws the rope down the hole, and after a few seconds, he hears a thud, giving him the signal that the rope hit the bottom. Rahul
Rahul: This is going to be a long descent. I'll go first.
Rahul grabs onto the rope and slowly starts to descend down the hole. After noticing how dark it was going, he turns on the flashlight in the GoPro.
Claire: You see anything, Rahul?
Rahul (shouts): No! There's nothing to really see that there would be any meteor-
The rope all of a sudden gives and Rahul starts to scream, causing the group above to panic and grab the rope. The device on the rope locks on and Rahul grabs the rope again.
Chris: RAHUL!
Rahul catches his breath.
Rahul: What?!
Chris: ARE YOU ALRIGHT?!
Rahul: Yeah! I'm alive!
Rahul starts to slowly descend further into the hole.
Rahul: And almost crapped my pants.
Rahul can see the bottom and continues to descend until his feet touch the bottom. Rahul lifts his head up.
Rahul: (shouts) Alright! I made it to the bottom! Get down here! And be careful!
Rahul looks ahead and can see a faint light of gold shimmer in the distance, making his eyes widen.
Rahul: Gold...?
The group each takes their time to get to the bottom. After a while, each one safely makes it to the bottom. After everyone takes their harness and helmet off, Chris walks up to Rahul.
Chris: Okay, Rahul. There is no meteor-
Rahul: But there is gold.
Chris: What?
Rahul points.
Rahul: Look.
Chris looks and can see a faint light of gold shimmer.
Claire: Gold?
Rahul: I bet you that's the purest gold. Come on, stick behind me.
Rahul walks ahead causing the group to reluctantly follow.
Patricia: I have bad feeling about this. Maybe we should head back.
Jasmine: And walk away from a money-making opportunity? No thanks.
Liam: I'm stahrtin' ta feel liyyke that theah is nothin' heah.
Ali: I'm stawting to sha' the same feeling as Patwicia.
Iris: Come on, guys. Have optimism.
Rahul and the group walk up to see a wall of purest gold.
Rahul: As I suspected, it is the purest gold.
Rahul places his hand and slides it. He continues to slide his hand until it meets something metal. It's a lever and can see the word 'POWER'.
Rahul: What the?
Rahul pulls the lever up and can hear whirring and things turning on. The power list the cave up for the group to see huge fire hydrants encased in gold, making it look like a facility of some kind. The group's eyes widen and mouths wide open.
Rahul: Oh... my... God...
The group walk around and are amazed at how this facility looks.
Chris: I can't believe how big this place is. This looks bigger than our high school.
Claire: I have to wonder what this was used for.
Liam: Judgin' how big it is, it could've been used by the US militahry awr by the national guard.
Ali: If that is the case, why would the awchitect design the building similaw to fe' ydwants?
Iris: Maybe it was used by firefighters.
Jasmine looks at Iris.
Jasmine: Underground firefighters?
Iris shrugs.
Iris: Your guess is as good as mine.
Patricia: I'm really starting to think we should head back.
Rahul looks at Patricia.
Rahul: After discovering this? No way. Let's explore it!
Chris: And forget about finding money?
Rahul looks at Chris.
Rahul: I'll pay for the pizza. Now, come on. I want to see what is inside.
Rahul sees what looks like the front door.
Rahul: Well, here's the 'front door'.
Chris sees a pad with an image of a hand on it. He puts his hand on it and it starts scanning it, making his eyes widen.
Chris: Woah...
The image turns red.
British-sounding woman on speaker: Access denied.
The group is stunned. Chris and Claire have heard this voice before.
Chris: The National Guard, Liam?
Liam shrugs.
Liam: As Iris said, yah guess is as good as mine.
Rahul: Well, there has to be a way in here.
Ali: I saw anotha' doo'. It's on the otha' side a'.
Ali walks to the door.
Claire: What does that mean?
Chris: I speak Klingon. It means he saw another door.
The group follows Ali and they see a normal-looking door. Ali turns the knob.
Ali: Locked. Of coozse.
Jasmine: Wait. I know how to lock pick.
Jasmine gets out a bobby pin and bends it. She gets out another bobby pin to use as a lever.
Chris: I never knew you did this.
Jasmine: Life living in the middle east is hard, especially in the middle of enemy territory.
Jasmine is able to get the door unlocked.
Jasmine: I also happen to have been a trouble maker back then.
Jasmine chuckles as everyone gets in. The group wanders around the facility, being absolutely awestruck by how big it is and how many rooms there are. They go to a docking area where it's loaded with vehicles that for whatever reason were dog-shaped. After going through the docking area, they head into rooms that felt big enough to be bedrooms. They then arrived in a kitchen, a dining area, and an area with a big silver circular table with ten chairs. They walk down a hallway and Liam's eyes catch something hanging on the walls of another hallway. He walks into it to see what it is. It's a group photo of dogs wearing uniforms and seem to be human-like. The dogs in the photo were from left to right; a Bloodhound, a Golden Retriever, a Rough Collie, a Doberman, a Siberian Husky, an Old English Sheepdog, a Rottweiler, an Akita wearing black shades, an Alaskan Malamute, a Brittany, and a Calupoh. Liam's eyes widen the moment he sees the letter 'R'. Liam looks and sees that he is behind the group and catches up. The group arrives at a room with ten cylinder-shaped machines. The group looks at them with curiosity.
Chris: Well, this is the last room. I'm not sure what these are used for.
Claire: They don't even look like they are on.
Patricia: Guys, I really think we should head back.
Liam: I'm with Patriciah. I don't really liyyke this place.
Claire: What is it with you guys? This place is huge. I feel like staying here for a bit.
Jasmine: So do I. This place
Patricia shakes her head.
Patricia: No. I don't want us get into trouble.
Ali looks at Patricia.
Ali: Ow is anyone going to know we'we a'? The plage is abandoned.
Patricia: There might someone looking at us. Didn't you guys see security cameras at this place?
Iris: They were off.
Patricia: You never know! They might turn on any point!
Rahul looks at his iPhone 12's clock and sees that it's 8:00 PM.
Rahul: Alright. We're not making it back to the pool. Let's at least make it to Domino's. But first...
Rahul pulls out his DSLR camera.
Rahul: ...how about a group photo? This will be good for my Instagram.
The group looks at each other. They all nod.
Chris: Sure, Rahul.
Rahul: All right. Let's all take one as we're standing in those. Just smile or pose. Whatever you like.
Rahul takes off his helmet and points it to the cylinder-shaped machines. He pulls out a tripod from his backpack. He sets the camera on it as each of the group stand in one of the cylinder-shaped machines, with Liam hesitating, before standing in one of them. Rahul puts a timer on the camera and runs in one of the cylinder-shaped machines. As the camera beeps, the group smiles and poses for the picture. As soon as the picture is taken, they hear a whirring noise.
Chris: What the?
The cylinder machine that Chris is in has a glass door that shuts and locks.
Chris: Hey!
The machines that the group is in each have a glass door that shuts and locks.
Claire: What?! What is this?!
Rahul: Someone! Get me out!
Patricia: Oh, I knew we should have got out here sooner! I knew someone was here!
Ali tries breaking the glass with his shoulder to no avail.
Ali: Come on! This isn't funny!
Liam tries to pull the glass door open.
Liam: No, no, no, no, no no, no, no!
Jasmine gets down on her knees and prays.
Jasmine: O God. O our master. You are eternal life and everlasting peace by Your essence and attributes. The everlasting peace is from You and it returns to You.
Iris starts to panic, causing her to take her inhaler and use it.
Iris: Oh, God. Please don't let this get any worse.
A grey gas comes from the top where Iris is standing.
Iris: (sighs) I spoke too soon.
The grey gas starts coming from the top of everyone else's causing them to panic more. Chris kicks the glass door trying to break it, Ali tries to break his glass door by using his shoulder again.
Chris: HEY! SOMEONE HELP US!
Ali: COME ON!
Claire tries pulling the door open but to no avail.
Claire: OH, RAHUL! WHY DID WE COME HERE?!
Rahul: I'M SORRY EVERYONE! I'M SORRY I BROUGHT YOU HERE!
Patricia: I FORGIVE YOU!
Liam tries to push against the door.
Liam: COME ON! I'M TOO YOUNG TO DIE!
Iris panics more and keeps using her inhaler. Jasmine stays on her knees, yelling out her prayer. Soon, the gas covers the inside of the machines. Inside, the group continues to scream for help which turns into a scream of pain. After a minute, the glass doors open, causing the gas to escape. Chris is the first to walk out and drop to the ground. The rest of the group follows suit. When the gas clears, there lies the group. Although, it is not the same that walked into those machines. There lying on the floor are now humanoid dogs. Two tan and black German Shepherds, a brindle Boerboel, a white and black Brazilian Terrier, a red Indian Pariah Dog, a brown Australian Kelpie, a yellow Hällefors Elkhound, and a fawn Canaan Dog. The clothes they wear have been tattered by the transformation the group went through.
Chris: (groaning) My head.
When Chris puts his hands in front of him, his eyes widen to see them brown fur coated.
Chris: AHH!
Chris backs up to a wall, looking at what he's turned into.
Chris: Furry hands? Three-toed dog feet?
Chris feels a brown tail.
Chris: A tail?
Claire gets up and looks at her brother in shock.
Claire: What happened to you, Chris?
Chris's eyes widen.
Chris: Look who's talking.
Claire looks and is shocked as Chris is.
Claire: What the? We're both German Shepherds?
Claire looks to the right to see Ali get up and look what he is.
Ali: What? Ow is this possible?
Ali looks at Patricia, who is in shock.
Patricia: How?! I expected us to be trouble, but not like this! I'm freak!
Rahul checks himself, frowning.
Rahul: Well, I can certainly say that this is the worst case of Sundays I've had.
Liam looks at himself, his eyes widen as Iris panics.
Iris: It got a lot worse! How are my parents going to be when they see me like this?
Iris picks up her glasses only to see a blurry vision, yet she takes them off to see a clear vision, almost as if she had LASIK surgery.
Iris: That is weird.
Iris feels her chest to feel she can breathe freely, almost as if she never had asthma whatsoever. Jasmine looks at herself.
Jasmine: Oh God, why do you punish me like this? What did I do in a past life to deserve this?
Liam: It wasn't God that did this ta ya, Jasmine.
Jasmine looks at Liam.
Jasmine: What?
Liam: It's the Road Rovers.
The group just stares blankly at Liam.
Iris: What are you talking about, Liam?
Liam looks at the group, confused.
Liam: Really? Do none of ya surf the internet layyte at night? Do none of ya evah seen videos of them?
The group stares at Liam, who paces around the room.
Liam: (sighs) They weah a crime-fightin' superhero team. They weah awrdinahry dogs turned into humanoid beings known as 'cano-sapiens'. I'm guessin' those machines is how they turned into this. They fought 'n saved the wawrld how many times from a terrawrist named General Pahrvo, as well as numahous othah terrawrists liyyke him. Afder they defeated Pahrvo twenchoo yeahrs ago, they disbanded. Since then, the team basically no longah exists due ta all of the members 'avin' long since died. I got this infawrmation from a Reddit usah wo knows every nook 'n cranny about the team. Claims ta be a huge fan of them. There's a bunch of videos about them on the web, just on a few websites heah 'n theah made by the fans because the public wants ta fawrget they evah existed. They feel that since the wawrld knows how ta figah out its problems, wy should this team come back?
Ali stares at Liam, a quiet anger rising in him.
Ali: You knew wha' that cwata' led to, what this plage was and what those maghines do, and you decided to keep it to yoozself?
Liam looks at Ali, worried.
Liam: No. Well, I mean yer, I knew about the Road Rovers 'n weah this bayse is. I didn't expect this ta 'appen.
Chris and Claire look at each other. After looking at what they are, their eyes begin to widen.
Chris and Claire: Colleen.
The group looks at Chris and Claire. They notice.
Chris: She was a dog our parents looked after. It's coming back to me. She used to talk to us, telling us life lessons and even stories about her time as a Road Rover.
Claire: Yeah. There was also Hunter and their son Dash who would do the same thing.
Ali starts to slowly walk to Liam.
Chris: Ali?
Ali: Shut up, Chwis.
Ali focuses his energy within himself, clenching his fists. Liam starts to back up.
Liam: Ali, wadaya think ya'ah doing?
Ali opens his eyes and opens his hands, making a fireball and throwing it at Liam. He dodges the fireball and it lands on the wall. Iris panics and puts her hand out, making water come out and extinguish the fire. Both Ali and Iris are in shock at what they did.
Iris: What...?
Ali: Oh my God...
Liam looks at Ali and Liam. He smiles.
Liam: Now, that is awesome.
Ali: Awesome? I jozt thwew a fe'ball out of my ands!
Iris: And I just threw water out of my hands!
Liam: Ya two gayyned superpowers, just liyyke the Road Rovers!
Rahul, shocked by what Ali and Iris did, starts to back up against the wall. Once he puts his arm on the wall, it sticks to it.
Rahul: What the?
Rahul gets his arm off it. Liam sees what Rahul is doing and gets excited.
Liam: Rahul! Try ta climb that wall! I reckon I know wat yah powah is!
Rahul looks at Liam, worried.
Liam: Come on! Pleayse do it!
Rahul gulps as he starts climbing the wall. Rahul, though shocked at what he is doing, continues climbing it, reaching the ceiling and climbing around the ceiling. He looks at the group, most of them shocked, while Liam has the biggest grin out of everyone.
Liam: Ya climb walls liyyke ya'ah Spider-Man!
Liam laughs, excited about what is going on with the group.
Liam: This just gets betder 'n betder!
Liam puts his arm out.
Liam: Web shoot my ahrm.
Rahul raises an eyebrow.
Rahul: Seriously?
Liam: Come on, Tom Holland! Do yah thing!
Rahul rolls his eyes and smirks.
Rahul: All right, nerd.
Rahul tries to 'web-shoot' at Liam, but can't. Instead, he makes his body extend like a wingsuit. Rahu looks at himself, his eyes widen a bit.
Rahul: I guess I found my second power.
Liam smiles.
Liam: Yer, ya did.
Rahul lets go of the ceiling and lands on the floor. He makes his body return to normal.
Jasmine: Wow. Got to wonder what I have.
Jasmine starts to focus on herself. After breathing in and out, Jasmine then puts her hand out, making hail come out. She immediately stops and then puts her hand out again, this time making snow burst through. She stops. She waves her hand around making a gust of wind come through. After the wind stops, she steps back.
Jasmine: So, my power is something to do with the weather.
Jasmine starts to drop to the floor on her knees.
Jasmine: I sure hope Allah is not going to judge me for it on Yawn ad-Din.
Patricia: So, fireballs, water, wall scaling, wingsuit body. and weather. What do I have?
Patricia puts her hands together and shakes them. As she's shaking them, she notices bursts of electricity coming out of them. Patricia stops though still has electricity coming out of her hands. She smiles a bit.
Patricia: Okay, I admit, this kind of cool.
Patricia stops the electricity. Liam handshakes her.
Liam: Guess that makes ya a female Raiden?
They both chuckled, though it stops when he notices her hand starting to look like his. Eventually, she turns into a copy of Liam. Liam is shocked, Patricia speaks, though this time it's in Liam's Australian voice.
Patricia: What's wrong, Liam?
Liam: Ya'ah me.
Patricia looks at herself. She too is shocked.
Patricia: Woah. I'm a shapeshifter, too?
Patricia looks at Liam, smirking.
Patricia: G'day, mate. Let's put anothah shrimp on the bahrbie.
Liam chuckles.
Liam: Somedee, but not todee.
Patricia returns to her dog form, smiling.
Patricia: You know, guys, I think I can get used to this.
Liam looks at Chris and Claire.
Liam: I wondah wat powah ya two av.
Chris and Claire look at each other.
Chris: I don't know. I never honestly thought about it.
Liam sees Iris' glasses on the floor and picks them up.
Liam: Think fast!
Liam throws the glasses at Chris, making him put his hand out. He is in shock when he sees that he's making them float.
Chris: Woah...
Chris makes the glasses float up and down and in different directions around the room.
Claire: Wow. You're like a Jedi...
Chris looks at Claire.
Chris: I wonder...
Chris flings the glasses at Claire, making her float the glasses as well.
Claire: Chris, I have the same power as you!
Chris nods.
Chris: Makes sense since we're twins.
Claire gives the glasses to Iris, who takes them.
Chris: I wonder if we can float too?
Claire: Now, now, Pennywise, I don't want to go in the sewers with you.
Chris crosses his arms.
Chris: I meant if we can levitate, Claire.
Claire: I know, I'm just messing with you.
Chris and Claire focus their energy on themselves. Eventually, they do indeed levitate off the ground. They look at each other, smiling.
Chris: Well, what do you know?
Claire: We can levitate.
They float around the room. After doing this for a minute, they go back to the ground.
Chris: Maybe being like this isn't so bad.
Liam: That's wat I've been thinkin'. Wat if we could be anothah team liyyke the Road Rovers? Sure, it could take a wile ta figah out how ta wawrk as a team, but I reckon it will be a great way ta brin' the bloody team back. We just need ta know how ta hide our powers 'n our dog fawrms, make sah no one leahrns wo we ahre, 'n just be good teammates ta each othah. Once we leahrn ta do all of that, we could be the next generation of the Road Rovers!
Liam puts his arms out, making long sharp claws come out of his fingertips. Liam looks at them.
Liam: Don't tell me...
Liam cuts his arm open with a claw. Jasmine notices this and goes to him.
Jasmine: Liam! Why would you do that?!
Jasmine goes to put her hand on the cut, when a green aurora comes out of it, going into the cut and healing it. Jasmine is in shock at what she did.
Jasmine: What? That is my secondary power?
Liam, though shocked by what Jasmine did, cuts his left arm with a claw. Within a few seconds, the cut heals itself, making Liam smile and jump in joy.
Liam: WOOHOO! I GOT WOLVERINE POWERS!
Liam looks at Ali and Iris.
Liam: Sawrry, but it's betder than fireballs 'n water!
Ali and Iris just stare at Liam, as he lets his nails get back to normal.
Claire: Look, Liam, I don't think that's a good idea.
Liam: Wy not, Claire?
Claire: I mean, I wanted a normal life, not this. What about our future plans?
Liam: Maybe this could be our futah.
Claire shakes her head.
Claire: It's not the future I want.
Jasmine: Me either. I'm supposed to take care of patients while being a follower of Allah. I think being this way is going to make my parents disown me.
Rahul: Besides, how will we go back to being human?
Liam out of nowhere sneezes, making him turn back to his human form. Liam looks at himself, seeing his clothes go back to normal, almost as if they weren't torn at all.
Liam: That's how.
Iris looks at Ali.
Iris: Ali, can you make a flame? Heat is one way to make yourself sneeze.
Ali nods. He makes a flame out of his hands so everyone, including himself, sneezes. This works as everyone sneezes and goes back to their human forms and their clothes seem to look like they haven't torn.
Chris: Okay, who's hungry for pizza?
The group agrees. Rahul grabs his helmet and backpack as they get out of the facility. They get back aboveground via the rope they previously used. After they resurface and Rahul puts everything away in his backpack, they make it back into town. They go to Dominoes and come out with two large half pepperoni and half cheese pizzas and three orders of stuffed cheesy bread. They are now walking back to the hotel.
Patricia: Who are we going ask to help us?
Chris thinks about it.
Chris: Dad.
Claire: And Mom. They're scientists, they'll probably know what to do.
Ali: So a' oa' pawents. They elped developed the vagcine with Max and Stagey, Clae'.
Claire: I know, but I just think we should go those two first. I'm sure they'll find a way to help us. We'll ask them in the morning before we leave.
The group nod to Claire, agreeing with her. They get to the hotel and eat in Chris and Claire's room. After eating the pizza and stuffed cheesy bread. The group goes back to each of their rooms and get prepared for the morning.
June 28th, 2021
It is 7:30 AM. The group had just finished breakfast. The kids had a feeling throughout eating; anxiety and worry. They don't know how Max and Sarah are going to react when they see what they became last night. The kids go on an elevator to get to Max and Sarah's room. Chris and Claire arrive first and knock on the door. Sarah opens the door and smiles.
Sarah: Ah, hello, my babies. Did you and your friends pack everything?
Chris clears his throat.
Chris: Oh, yeah, Mom. We have.
Sarah: That's good. Maybe you can help us. Once we pack, we're going back home.
Chris and Claire nod and help their parents pack their stuff in each of their luggage. A few minutes pass.
Max: Alright. That's everything. Come on, kids. We might be able to beat traffic if we leave early.
Claire: Uh, Dad. There's something me and Chris have to tell you.
Max looks at Claire.
Max: You sure you don't want to wait until we get back home?
Claire: It's important.
Max looks at Sarah, who is curious as to what they have to say. Max sits down on the bed.
Max: Are you two seeing anyone right now?
Chris sighs.
Chris: No, Dad, we didn't get anyone pregnant.
Max sighs of relief.
Max: Good, I want you two to keep that wrapped up before you two are ready.
Claire: I know, Dad. You told us that many times before.
Max: Now, what is it that you want to tell me?
Chris and Claire look at each other. Chris looks at his father.
Chris: Rahul told us that he found a crater in the desert.
Max starts having his face change by having his eyes wide a bit and frowns.
Chris: He said that we might be able to make some money if we found fragments of a meteor. We went down there. We couldn't find any. We did find this facility made of gold.
Max starts to get worried but doesn't yet show it to his kids. Sarah is also worried but she too doesn't show it.
Chris: Jasmine got us in there and we looked. It was huge with many rooms inside. We got into this last room. Rahul wanted to take a picture before we left. So we stood in these machines to get the picture
Max immediately shows worry in his face, along with Sarah, as the kids look down.
Claire: All of a sudden, these machines turned on, shutting us out. Then this gas came inside. All I could feel was pains in my body as I could hear my clothes tear. It felt like every bone in my body was breaking, yet was being healed instantly. After a minute, the machines stopped. We all got up and saw what we became. We turned into dogs. Though, we were human-like. We also gained superpowers. Chris and I have psychokinesis and levitation, Ali has fire, Rahul can climb walls and extend his body like a wingsuit, Patricia has electricity and can shapeshift, Liam has Wolverine abilities, Iris has water, and Jasmine can heal and use weather.
The kids look up to see Max having his mouth open and his eyes widen. Max quickly gets up from the bed and goes to the door. Putting his head on the door, he breathes in and out.
Max: This can't be real. This isn't happening.
Sarah goes to comfort her husband.
Claire: It's okay, Dad. It's real and it did happen. We can prove it to you.
Max and Sarah look as Chris and Claire hold each other's hands and focus their energy on themselves to turn into cano-sapiens. It works as they let go of each other and start to groan. Their clothes start to tatter and their shoes burst out to reveal three tan-toed dog feet. They also begin to grow in size, only growing five more inches. Their brown and black tails burst out through the pants they're wearing and tan and black fur covers their bodies. Their transformation is complete when their faces form a muzzle and dog ears grow on the top of their heads. After the pain subsides, the two get up and look at their parents, who are in shock at what happened, with Max sitting on the floor.
Chris: Well, what do you think, Dad?
Max, his eyes widen, looks at his kids. He almost has no words to express how he feels.
Max: Um...
Claire looks at the remote and uses her powers to lift the remote and float around the room. Chris does the same thing with a towel on the bed. This gets Max the urge to say something.
Max: Okay! Stop! I get it!
Chris and Claire put the towel and remote back. They walk up to their parents.
Claire: Quite surprising is it?
Max: Yeah. Except I know how it is.
Chris and Claire: Because you've been this way.
Max looks at his kids, confused.
Claire: Colleen told us about you before she died.
Max: Of course. I was her best friend after all.
Max looks at the door and then back to his kids.
Max: Are your friends out here?
Ali: Yes we a', Mr. Pawka'!
Max opens the door and lets Ali, Liam, Rahul, Iris, Patricia, and Jasmine in the room. Max and Sarah go to the bed to sit on it. Max looks at Chris and Claire.
Max: Can you two go back to normal?
Chris: Yes. Ali?
Ali gets a flame out of his hands, surprising Max and Sarah. Chris and Claire smell the heat from it and they both sneeze, turning them back into humans and their clothes seem to fix themselves.
Max: Well, it's good to know that I don't have to take you two clothes shopping.
Chris and Claire chuckle.
Max: Okay. Where do I begin?
It is storytime. Max tells the kids about his journey as a Road Rover as short as he can, which took fifteen minutes. He went into how he was hired by his father General Parvo, how he was betrayed and sent to prison with Groomer, the escape and Groomer's death, him being inducted into the Road Rovers team, him killing Atwater upon finding out General Parvo is Max's father, him saving the Earth from Captain Zachary Storm, him gathering an army to stop his father from destroying the world's population, him being cured and meeting Sarah. In between, he would share the adventures he had with the Road Rovers. The storytelling came to an end.
Max: ...and that just about sums it up.
The kids stare blankly at Max.
Max: I know, it's a lot to take in.
Liam: Not fawr me. I know about ya 'n the Road Rovers. It's kind of 'ahrd ta not see that ya 'n the Alaskan Malamute shahah the same voice.
Sarah chuckles.
Sarah: I figured that out too.
Chris looks at his father.
Chris: So, Dad, what do you plan to do to help us?
Max looks at the kids and gets off the bed.
Max: Well, I at the very least want to know how you guys are with your powers. I'm going to have to give an old friend of mine a call. He and I share a history of cano-sapiens.
Liam: Aaron Ash.
Max looks at Liam.
Max: You know how to do your homework, Liam.
Liam nods.
Max: Aaron and I will study you guys to see how you guys can act in battle with your powers. I will find a way to cure you if you guys don't want to do this.
Chris stands up.
Chris: I'm ready to know how my cano-sapien form is, Dad.
Liam quickly stands up.
Liam: So do I!
Patricia also quickly stands up.
Patricia: Me too!
Claire is the first to hesitantly get up, then Rahul, then Ali, then Iris, and then Jasmine.
Max: I'm guessing you five don't want to-
Ali: No, Mr. Pawka'. We may not yet want to be Woad Wova's o' be like this, but we'we willing to know what we can be with oa' powa's.
Max nods.
Max: All right. I will get in touch with Aaron. Now, get your luggage because we're going home. We'll meet you in the lobby.
The group nods as Max lets the kids out of the room. He closes the door.
Sarah: Do you think you can teach them to be Road Rovers?
Max looks at Sarah, his mind going in different directions, and sighs.
Max: Honestly, I don't know. It was a lot to take in seeing our kids turn into cano-sapiens and seeing them share the powers that I once had.
Sarah: I know, Max. Once you and Aaron get to know how they are as cano-sapiens, maybe you'll consider training them?
Max stares at Sarah's eyes. He kisses her lips, with Sarah returning with a kiss.
Max: (nods) Maybe. Not guaranteed, but maybe.
Sarah nods. They get their luggage and leave the rooms. Once everyone gets their luggage in the Sprinter, the group gets in and Max drives to Salt Lake City, starting another journey for himself; not only know how these kids are with their powers but can he be the mentor to these kids in the same way Shepherd and the Road Rovers were to him?
