~If I hadn't met her today, I would totally regret it 10 years later~
"It has been 10 years since I met her, she was the one who changed me as a loner, her name was Shizuka Hiratsuka, and this is the story of how we met"
~Chapter 1 – My Way of Survival as a Loner~
"Youth is an evil source of life. Those who think youth is part of life, especially in high school, should die in a fire." Hachiman said to his so-called "friend" named Yoshiteru Zaimokuza.
"Hachiman, don't be like that, youth is important, especially in High School, where us two could bloom" Yoshiteru said.
"No, Yoshiteru, one of us could bloom, you already bloomed after second term started, back then, you were a fat person with eighth-grade syndrome, that didn't have anyone to be paired up with in gym class, so the teacher keeps on pairing as up in tennis, back in our first year, I became friends with you because you were a loner like me, now you're slim, not a chuunibyou." Hachiman explained.
"And you're still friends with me even if I changed a lot" Yoshiteru said.
"Because you keep on talking to me at lunch time and even go to my usual lunch spot" Hachiman explained why they are still friends.
"Though, Hachiman, if you still think like that, you'll just be a nuisance to society" Yoshiteru explaining the consequence of being a loner to a society.
"How can I change like you, I don't have time like you, that can lose weight, move on with his fantasy, and have nice conversations with boys and girls" Hachiman stating some facts that he can't change in a matter of seconds.
"And that's why you should join "The Service Club"." Yoshiteru gave him a recommendation.
"Service Club, what's that?" Hachiman was confused as to what the Service Club was.
"I don't know but Haruno-sensei said you should join the club because it'll help with your loner status, and Haruno-sensei, that you're gonna be a bother to society if you don't change" Yoshiteru said.
"Why is Haruno-sensei not talking to me about my life as a loner, I am perfectly fine with how life's been" Hachiman said.
"Oh really, Hikagaya-kun?" Haruno-sensei said.
"Yes, I am perfectly fi-" Hachiman said and looked at who was talking and…
"Hikigaya-kun, come with me, for a few minutes, I need to talk to you." Haruno-sensei said.
"What if I don't want to go to talk to you?" Hachiman asked.
"Then you'll get punched by me, right in the middle" Haruno-sensei threatens Hachiman if he doesn't follow.
"O-O-kay, I'll go" Hachiman was terrified as to what could happen if he didn't go.
"Bye, Hachiman, good luck talking with Haruno-sensei." Yoshiteru said.
Hachiman replied back by making a nod.
"Hikigaya-kun, join the Service Club, I'll help you in the future if you go and sign for the club" Haruno-sensei encourages Hachiman to join the club.
"Sensei, you know I am part of the go-to-home club right?" Hachiman asked.
"Yes, I know, but as a teacher, I don't want my students to miserably regret their life in the future." Haruno-sensei said.
"Shouldn't you be married right now, Haruno-sensei, because of you're a-" Hachiman said and immediately became silent after Haruno-sensei almost jab his head.
"Any more things to say, Hikigaya-kun" Haruno-sensei asked.
"No…" Hachiman said and became silent.
"Anyway, if you want to be a disappointed person in society, so be it, but I assure you, go to the Service Club if you want to change that" Haruno-sensei's last thing she said before going to her next class.
I wasn't a popular guy when I was in middle school, I was creepy, especially with girls, for example, when we we're exchanging phone numbers, the girls that I've numbers of, I texted at 7pm at night and the next day, they wouldn't answer, they just view it and not reply, and in elementary, my last name was Hikigaya, and it had "Gay" so they called me, Gay everytime I was going home.
After Hikigaya's conversation with Haruno-sensei, he returned back to class with a few minutes left before lunch ended, so Yoshiteru started to talk to Hikigaya…
"Hachiman, what did Haruno-sensei tell you?" Yoshiteru asked.
"Nothing, she just asked me to just join the Service Club." Hachiman replied.
"Then join, Hachiman, you should consider joining the Service Club, it could help you" Yoshiteru encouraged Hachiman to join.
"Fine, I'll go, I am annoyed both you and Haruno-sensei, keep on telling me to join the Service Club" Hachiman replied.
"I am fine with that, it's just for your sake, Hachiman" Yoshiteru said.
"Also I wouldn't be able to go with you in going to the Service Club" Yoshiteru said a reminder to Hachiman.
"Why?" Hachiman asked.
"Because I joined the tennis club" Yoshiteru said.
"Tennis Club!, Yoshiteru, are you okay?" Hachiman was shocked as to what Yoshiteru said.
"Yes, after we played tennis, I decided to train and exercise, that's why I became slimmer and joined the tennis club" Yoshiteru said.
"So you're becoming Hayama now, then goodbye" Hachiman left the seat next to Yoshitune.
"No, I won't become like Hayama, because I will always hate him, I am just doing this because I want to do something in life"
"Okay, just don't become like Hayama" Hachiman said.
After Hachiman and Yoshiteru's conversation, lunch break has ended, and they resumed classes, Hachiman, just listening to the class and he thought to himself…
"Join the Service Club, huh, might as well check it out later" Hachiman thought to himself.
After classes have finished, Yoshiteru said goodbye and he headed to the tennis court for his tennis practice, while Hachiman climbed up the stairs, walked through the hallway, and stopping at the door, and knocked, no one replied, so he knocked again, and no one replied once again, so he opened the door and saw a girl, a beautiful girl who was sleeping arms down on the table. Hachiman was confused who she was but he did say he'll go, so Hachiman waited for the girl to wake up…
"*yawns* That's a good amount of sleep, I can't wait to sleep again in my ro-, HUH! Who are you!? Why are you just sitting there? Did you do anything in my sleep, if you did, say it and I'll punch you." The girl threatened Hachiman.
"Hachiman Hikigaya, Class 2-F, I was sitting here waiting for you to wake up and no, I didn't do anything to you, I am here to join the Service Club," Hachiman explained everything.
"Wait, you wanted to join the Service Club, did Haruno-sensei force you to join?" The girl asked.
"Before you ask me a question, introduce yourself" Hachiman asked the girl to introduce herself.
"Huh, you don't know me, everybody knows me, right, right?" The girl was confused because Hachiman doesn't know her.
"I don't give a damm about anyone, but if I am joining this club, I might as well give a damm about you." Hachiman said.
"Heh, really, Hikigaya-kun? You might just join because of a cute girl like me." The girl teased Hachiman.
"No, I am here because Haruno-sensei calls me a bother to society, she also annoys me every now and then." Hachiman explained why he is joining the club.
"Now, give me your name or I'll be going home" Hachiman said.
"Fine, I want someone to talk to in this club, my name is Shizuka Hiratsuka, Class 2J, and welcome to The Service Club" Shizuka finally introduced herself.
"You have yourself a new member, Shizuka-chan" Haruno-sensei cutted in.
"Haruno-sensei, knock first then enter, you always surprised me when you're entering the clubroom" Shizuka said.
"I did knock, but you're talking to my favorite student, Hikigaya-kun" Haruno-sensei said.
"Haruno-sensei, how is he your favorite student out of all of your students that you have taught?" Shizuka asked.
"I know his sister, Komachi, she used to be my student and when I visited her place after she graduated high school, she said he had a little brother who is a loner recently, she asked me if I could do something about it, I said yes, so I kept my promise to Komachi, so when Hachiman, applied for the first year of high school, in Soubu High, I was observing his actions, and I noticed that he'll be a bother to society so I forced him to join the Service Club" Haruno-sensei explained.
"So, anyway, Shizuka-chan, I'll leave you two up to it" Haruno-sensei just walked away from the clubroom.
"So, what does this club do?" Hachiman asked.
"We assist people who are in need?" Shizuka explained what the Service Club does.
"Also, Hikigaya-kun, you wanna have a head-to-head battle inside the Service Club, as to how many you can help before you end high school" Shizuka asked.
"Does it matter if I said no?" Hikigaya asked.
"Nope, it doesn't matter because we're starting tomorrow, the loser will need to follow the winner's request on a weekend" Shizuka explained the price.
"Fine" Hachiman agreed he had nothing to stop Shizuka.
"By the way. When will this bet end?" Hachiman asked.
"Until both of us finish High School." Shizuka said.
After Shizuka and Hachiman bet for their high school life, Hachiman got a chair and sat down, while Shizuka grabbed her bag, and got her manga, the two quietly read, well, only one of them is, Shizuka was laughing so hard that it annoyed Hachiman…
"You know, you don't need to laugh that goddamm loud, you freaking fat beast" Hachiman said to Shizuka.
"Did you just call me a fat beast?!" Shizuka was surprised by what Hachiman said.
"Yeah, so shut up, you fat beast" Hachiman said once again to Shizuka.
"Fine, I'll be quiet so stop calling me a fat beast, I have a name, okay, it's Shi-zu-ka" Shizuka said.
After their small quarrel, they continued reading, Hachiman was observing Shizuka, and Shizuka turned and said…
"Hey, what are you looking at, you creep" Shizuka asked.
"Nothing, I was just thinking "If you are that good-looking and popular, why don't you have a boyfriend."" Hachiman said.
"I don't know, my friends called me cute, intelligent and has a lot of friends, but I don't feel the things my friends say to me that seriously, I feel like they just said it to me because they didn't want me to be discourage in our days as young blooming youths" Shizuka explained.
"Yeah, real friends say true things to you even if it hurts, but it keeps the trust with each other, they help you with your flaws, they take care of each other. While her "friends" are just worthless craps that try to say nice things to you, to be encouraging, but in reality, they want you to be down like a piece of paper on the ground of their jealousy, that's why, Shizuka, it doesn't matter if you have friends or not, if they are betraying you, just remember the fact that you're better than them, because they were your fake friend to begin with" Hachiman said Shizuka.
"Thanks, Hikigaya-kun, also Hikigaya-kun, how did you become a loner?" Shizuka asked.
"I became a loner, a loner usually would, got bullied in elementary school, girls thinked you were a creep in middle school, now you're an invisible figure that nobody recognizes because you completely faded away from their thoughts" Hachiman said.
"Wow, that's really depressing" Shizuka said.
"You're the one who asked me" Hachiman said.
"Hahahaha!" Shizuka laughed hard.
"Anyway, let's go, Hikigaya-kun, it's already late" Shizuka tells Hachiman it's time to go home.
"Okay" Hachiman said.
After their little conversation, they packed their things up and fixed their clubroom, and left and Shizuka said after leaving the room…
"Goodbye, Hikigaya-kun, I hope you come back tomorrow for club" Shizuka said.
Hachiman walked away but later he stopped enough for Shizuka to hear and said…
"Yeah, yeah, I have to beat you with your stupid bet, or else you'll something embarrassing to me" Hachiman said.
"No, I wouldn't do anything like that, actually I might do something embarrassing to you but don't worry, it's still far before the end of the bet, so be prepared" Shizuka said, but Hachiman already walked away, he pretended not to hear and did not respond.
That was our first meeting with each other, and this is the start of many meetings with new members and memories coming along.
