Chapter 23 Hulbury Cruise Date
"So what are we going to do now if Nessa is going to prepare the gym?" Lillie asks the others, who shrug as they don't know what to do. Ash says, "That reminds me, before we bid farewell at Wedgehurst, my Mom actually gave me two tickets for S.S Rainbow."
"No way, you mean the famous cruise ship?" Gloria asks in shock.
"Yeah, but we only got the two-hour tour ticket..." Ash sighs. "And not to mention, I can only bring one of you there. Since I spent some time with Alice in Turffield, and then Lillie in Wedgehurst, I will try to choose either Dawn, Gloria, or Serena."
The three girls are now excited, and Alice says, "Ash actually told me about this, and I respect his choice."
Lillie says, "Me, too. And since Alola was filled with water, so a cruise ship is not that appealing to me."
"And I think I have my choice. Dawn, do you want to come with me?" Ash asks.
Dawn is surprised as she is chosen, she says, "Of course, I'd like to."
Serena and the others aren't happy as she asks, "Why her?"
Ash says, "I know some of you don't like my choice, but everyone has a turn, only that this time I chose Dawn."
Gloria and Serena sigh and they reluctantly agree, but Elena is confused at the whole thing. She asks Alice, "What's going on here?"
"Well, Ash decides to take each girl alone for a small hangout once we arrive at a city." Alice replies.
"I see..." Elena says, suddenly feeling a little jealous of the girls who are going to spend some time alone with Ash.
Mark says, "Since we have to wait, how about we go see what the market has to offer?"
"I agree." Gloria says as they go towards the market. But Alice has Drizzile out and it is going to spy on Ash and Dawn, hoping nothing is going to happen between the two of them.
"Why are you choosing me to come with you?" Dawn asks Ash once they are on the ship. "I mean, you could have chosen Gloria or Serena. But why me?"
Ash says, "Well, it was random, you see, back in Turffield and Wedgehurst, I was with Alice and Lillie respectively this whole time, so I think that it would be better to take turns. And I choose you because I thought you were the most excited about this trip."
"I see." Dawn says as they see some posters, one with the Ludicolo playing maracas and one with Nessa and her Drednaw. "So Nessa's ace Pokemon is Drednaw? I mean, Nessa is a famous model, but Drednaw doesn't seem to be the type..."
"Well, Gym Leaders will choose a Pokemon that can Gigantamax. Considering that not many Pokemon can Gigantamax, I assume that Drednaw is actually one of them. It will be cool to see it in battle." Ash says with a smile.
With Wingulls passing by, Ash and Dawn are having lunch in the restaurant on the ship as they are eating Kingler and Crawdaunt meat, they are now talking about their past travels. Dawn says, "So you meant that Misty and May's bikes were also destroyed by Pikachu, as those were the reasons that they traveled with you?"
"Yeah..." Ash says. "But the truth is Misty's bike is destroyed because we were chased by Spearow and Pikachu shoots out the Thunder Shock during the rain. As for May's bike, let's say that Team Rocket made Pikachu sick and he can't control its electricity."
Dawn says, "As for my bike, I guess it was because I tried to capture it without noticing it has a trainer...But if you were there, maybe my bike wouldn't get destroyed."
"You're right about that." Ash says as he looks around the area, he notices a lot of tanks with Water-type Pokemon. "By the way, Dawn, do you notice how this restaurant is like an aquarium?"
"You're right. I can see Woopers over there, their walking is very funny." Dawn says as they notice a small tank having a beach and Woopers are walking around and diving into the water.
"Yeah. And those are Tympoles. You see, I have a Palpitoad when I caught in Unova." Ash says. "In fact, it was thanks to Oshawott that I caught him since Pikachu and the others were badly poisoned by Foongus."
"But it evolved into Dewott when we're exploring the Onix Island, right? He sure is strong, but I don't think Piplup will like to hear that." Dawn says as Piplup's eyes start to fire. Pikachu just sweatdrops at the penguin, and Ash says, "But now it is a Samurott, because of something happened in the Decolore Islands."
Once they finish eating, they decide to check out the bottom part of the ship, which turns out to be transparent with glasses to see the underwater Pokemon. Ash can see Magikarp and Seaking swimming by, and an Octillery resting on top of Cloyster. The Closyter doesn't seem to like what Octillery is doing as it tries to go with Icicle Spear. Ash and Dawn just giggle as they watch the funny battle.
Once Dawn sees the Milotic, she says, "Remember how we entered the Wallace Cup together? Ash? That was one of my most precious memories."
"I remembered that. Since I was surprised that the Hoenn Champion would invite me to his Special Contest." Ash says with a smile.
"Because of Buizel, right? Or should I say Floatzel since it evolved back in Crasher Wake's Gym." Dawn says. "At least I managed to conquer my fear of Appeal Rounds back then. Not to mention May was also there as well."
"Yeah, both of you face against each other, and you won against her in the end." Ash says. "As for me, I just lost to a Lanturn."
"But you did what I couldn't do, you learn the Ice Aqua Jet." Dawn says. "I was wondering if you would want to do contests once the Galar League is over."
"Maybe I will consider about it. After all, I have already competed seven leagues and become seven champions, it will be nice to do some contests as to take some rest." Ash says.
When they see some Basculin passing by, Dawn and Ash also talk about how they look in different colors. But then, they are interrupted as they see Wishiwashi turns into School Form. She asks, "Wow! What is that?"
"Oh, that is Wishiwashi, it has two forms, Single Form and School Form. This is the School Form." Ash says, "I remembered back in Alola, my classmate Lana has to battle a giant Wishiwashi for her Z Crystal."
"Wow..." Dawn says, "It sure is big."
Then they see a Pyukumuku as it gives a V pose, while the two of them do it back as they giggle. As Arrokuda swims past, Ash decides to go back to the deck so that they can relax.
On the deck, they get to see a Water Show performed by the performers there and they see how Vaporeon jumps through the rings and how Dewpider made bubbles. And then they feel the ship shaking as Ash and Dawn hold together tight, they blush a little, and then they notice that a Whiscash is the one who does that, causing them to laugh a little.
Now the show ends, Ash and Dawn change their swimsuits as they sit on the beach chairs and they see how the Gastrodon swim past, but then Dawn sees a Wimpod as she tries to walk towards it, Wimpod gets scared as it quickly rushes back to its trainer, who apologizes to them. Then they see how Binacle cooperates together, which makes them think of themselves. Even though the thought isn't clear, the two of them are blushing hard.
"How about we go fishing?" Ash asks Dawn as she agrees. Then they fish out Qwilfish, Frillish, and Mareanie, which are Pokemon that are very dangerous, so they quickly release them into the water while laughing as Cramorant flies past and Mantine jumps over them. While they are doing these things, Drizzile is watching them while being invisible, and it nods as he is sure Ash and Dawn aren't in danger.
The ship almost arrives back at Hulbury as they see Wailord and Lapras swimming with the ship. Then the ship stops as Ash and Dawn get back on land, with the invisible Drizzile following them.
"Ash, thank you for this wonderful experience." Dawn says while hugging him. "Even though it is only two hours, it is very memorable."
"I'm glad you like everything on the ship, now we should go find others for now." Ash says. "I heard that they are going to the market, right?"
"Yeah. Let's go there." Dawn says as they look around the market, they find Alice and the others as they rush towards them. Ash says, "Hey, guys."
"Hello, brother. Good to see you two safe and sound." Mark says as the girls hug Ash, causing him to be a little uncomfortable.
"How is the cruise ship?" Lillie asks. "Is it fun?"
"It is amazing." Dawn says, "We got to see a lot of Water Type Pokemon and even a show that will help me with the Contests."
"Good for you, I would want to see it as well." Serena says, "Maybe you can show us sometime?"
"Sure." Ash says as he turns to Alice and Elena, Alice was just recalling Drizzile into the Poke Ball. Ash asks, "How about you guys? Did you have any fun in the market?"
"Well, we did get to shop some more. Look Ash." Alice shows him the necklace, Ash says, "What is this?"
"This is the Fossilized Fish. If I gathered 3 more fossils on this necklace, then it will make my wish come true. Though that is just a superstition, and I don't know if it is true or not." Alice says.
"Maybe your wish would come true." Elena laughs.
"And Ash, look what I've got!" Serena says as she takes out a Poke Ball, revealing a Chinchou. Ash says, "Wow, a Chinchou, it is a Water- and Electric-type."
"According to Alice's Rotom Phone, it has the ability Volt Absorb, that means he doesn't need to worry about being hit by Electric Type." Serena says.
"That is cool." Ash says. "I can't wait to see the day when it becomes a Lanturn."
Elena says, "Well, since we are done here, how about we all go to the gym? I'm sure Nessa is waiting for you guys and Papa wouldn't want you to miss the dinner."
The others nod as they all go to the gym.
And here is the third date, this time with Dawn as they ride on the cruise ship for the Water-type Pokemon. I choose Dawn just because Piplup is a Water-type, so don't ask me why. I hope you like this chapter and the next chapter will be the gym battle.
