It was 'their' spot.

A semi secluded place in the park that they often stopped at to hangout or have a date night when it wasn't too cold. It wasn't bad right now; the wind had died down since this morning and the temperature was fair, especially since the sun was casting over that spot. They'd agreed to be there for a while. Usually they would walk together but Stephanie had told him she needed to do something else first and wouldn't allow him to ask any questions.

It was Valentine's Day and all the couples in school had been sickeningly sweet to each other. Stephanie had giggled at how many times he'd rolled his eyes throughout the day. Despite how dumb it was to see everyone act over one day-especially since he knew at least a handful were cheating on their boyfriend or girlfriend anyway-the day had been on his mind since it was his and Stephanie's first one together.

She hadn't made a big deal out of it, actually she hadn't even brought it up. She might not even care all that much but he wanted to do something for her anyway; something to make her beam so wide to make her dimples come out. He loved those moments.

Charlie was working on his English essay when he felt a pair of hands come over his eyes.

"Guess who," Stephanie said in a singsong voice.

If it hadn't been for her voice, he would have been apple to tell just by the vanilla perfume she always wore.

"If I say Hilary Duff and it's not her, I'm gonna be majorly disappointed."

"Jerk," She said with affection, throwing her arms around him, kissing his cheek from behind.

He couldn't stop himself from smiling. He never thought it would be Stephanie Tanner of all people that would make his knees feel weak or cause his stomach to flutter or be the reason he felt so in love. But life had a way of surprising him.

"I got you something," she murmured.

"You didn't have to."

"Shut up," she told him and he was one-hundred percent certain that she rolled her eyes.

"There's that sweet talk I love so much," he deadpanned.

She came around to plop beside him. "Close your eyes," she instructed.

"Maybe."

"Do it."

"I'll think about it."

"You're so annoying."

"It's what you love me for."

"Maybe."

"Clever, Tanner."

"I thought so," She said proudly. "'Now close your eyes."

He sighed dramatically. "Fine."

"Okay, you can open them."

"Honestly, Tanner, all that for two-" he cut himself off, staring at the unexpected surprise she held. His eyes flickered from them and back to her face. "You...you got me flowers?"

She smiled shyly. "You mentioned you like sunflowers."

"Yeah," he took them, never taking his eyes off them, "months ago."

He'd never received flowers before. Didn't think he would because that was usually a girl's thing. And to think, Steph had remembered something he said months ago and acted like it was nothing.

Crap, he really freaking loved this girl.

His girl.

There was a heart shaped lollipop taped to the stems-red, of course.

"Thank you," he whispered.

She brightened up. "You like it?"

"I love it," he sat them aside for now. "I've never gotten flowers before," he admitted.

"I figured," Stephanie nodded. "That's why I wanted to give you some."

He glanced downward. "I got something for you too."

"You didn't have to," she insisted. "I didn't expect anything."

He ignored that. "It's not flowers but-" He gave her a red colored card, feeling his cheeks heat up.

They were just officially nine ten months into their relationship; some might say it was too much for something that might not even last, that they were too young and he didn't really feel that way.
But Charlie knew what he felt was true.

He just...he had difficulty expressing it verbally to her. She let her affection be known and wasn't afraid of telling him. He wished he could be like that. He was working on it, really he was. Somehow, Stephanie understood. She didn't judge him for it or make him feel guilty for it.

She was the best and no one could tell him otherwise.

Steph opened up the card.

He turned away.

Stephanie,

Look, I'm not really good with feelings and romance and stuff. I suck at it and I don't know how to say it without making it sound awkward.

But what I do know is that I've never loved anyone more than I love you.

I love how kind you are to literally everybody.

I love how you're able to come up with a comeback quick and don't get offended when I say one to you

I love how adorable you look when you're blushing after I've said certain things to you

I love the way you laugh

I love it when you've noticed I've had a bad day and you've just held me without hesitating

I love it when you kiss my forehead even though I say I don't

I love how you care so much for your family and friends and me

I love that face you make when you're concentrating on something

I love how big your smile gets when you're happy about something

I love so many things about you

Most of all, I love you, Stephanie

I've never been happier than when I'm with you

Happy Valentines Day, beautiful

Charlie

"Aww, Charlie," Stephanie looked touched. "This is so sweet."

"I meant every word," he told her seriously.

Stephanie put her hand on his cheek and closed the gap between them. They'd never kissed before this. Charlie never knew this could be so wonderful. His hands were on her face, fingers digging slightly into her hair. The kiss deepened and it felt so good.

When they broke apart, they kept their foreheads leaning against each other's.

"You make me happy too," Stephanie whispered.

Charlie didn't hesitate to kiss her again.
