Chapter 27 Grenomy Gym Battle
The next day, Ash and the group are at the stadium of Grenomy, as they are going for their eighth gym. Ash goes toward the staff and the staff says, "Welcome, Gym Challenger, are you ready to challenge the gym?"
Ash says, "Of course."
"Good, here is the Uniform." Ash goes to change his uniform and this time he is wearing a purple shirt with rainbow colors in the middle, and then the staff says, "Number 151, I hope you are ready for the experience that might shock your life."
As Ash is taken to the mission field, all he can see is a Teleportation Panel. Dan says, "Allow me to explain the Gym Mission for this Grenomy Gym. To complete the mission, you will have to go into the Teleportation Panel. Since the battlefield is on top of the Satellite, it should be the final destination. There are 12 floors with different heights that lead to the field, and there are also Gym Trainers on that particular floor as well. To determine which floor to go to, you have to roll a dice, since this is the first floor, so you don't have to do the following instruction. When the dice roll ends, the number of times that are used are also the key, when it is an odd number, go downwards, but if it is an even number, then go upwards."
Ash says, "It seems really complicated, but I am ready." Ash says with a smile as Dan says, "Now let the Gym Mission Start."
Ash rolls the dice and then it lands on 5, he says, "A good start." He goes into the Teleportation Panel and then immediately, it goes to the height of 15000 meters.
Ash, Pikachu, and Meowth are shocked at the height as Meowth says, "How do we even get this high?"
"I guess it is with the power of the Psychic Type Pokemon." Ash says with amazement. "But I can't see any people down below..."
In the stadium, everyone is watching through the projection, Gloria says, "This is really amazing...we are going to battle up high..."
"Yeah." Lillie's sweat drops. "I hope Ash will be fine."
In the end, Ash rolls a 4 after that, but then he is forced to go 5 downwards again. But luckily, he manages to roll more and eventually sees Dan at the Height of 33000 meters.
"Goal, Gym Mission Cleared." Dan says. "You did a great job climbing this high."
Then Ash is teleported inside the Satellite which is 36000 meters high. And then he walks to the stadium which is a giant dome with nothing except protective glass. Luna also walks toward them and says, "Ah, Prince Ash. How is the view from here?"
Ash says, "It sure is amazing to see our planet down below."
"Indeed. In this place, we can broadcast the weather conditions to the Galar Region so that we can make predictions on which Pokemon will appear and which won't." Luna says. "But now, let's have a battle in space."
Luna takes out the Pokeball and says, "Now you should go first, Duosion."
As the first Pokemon appears, Ash says, "Thievul, I choose you."
And then the battle starts as Luna says, "We should get the first move, Duosion, use your Energy Ball."
As the Pokemon shoots out a green ball, Ash says, "Dodge it and then use Thief."
Thievul does the move and hurts Duosion, but since Duosion isn't carrying any items, so Thievul is frustrated.
"Now Thunder Wave, slow his motion." Ash is surprised as Thievul is hit and is paralyzed. "Use Flash Cannon!"
The attack effectively hits the Pokemon as Thievul is in pain. "Are you alright?" Ash asks as he nods. "Good, now use Sucker Punch, finish it off."
Duosion tries to attack, but the Sucker Punch sends it flying to the glass, and thankfully it doesn't break.
"Well, that's it. You have shown a lot of talents in the battle, let's determine it with this Pokemon. Indeedee!"
As the Pokemon appears, Ash notices that it is a female Indeedee, which means it is good at defending. It uses Disarming Voice to knock out Thievul.
Ash says, "Indeedee...the only ones we saw when we are traveling are Nurse Joy's...and it has different forms according to their gender. If that's the case, I'll use Scrafty!"
As the Pokemon appears, Dawn says, "Scrafty? Is he serious?"
"Well, we did know how powerful that Disarming Voice is, and it will be game over if Scrafty takes the hit..."
Luna says, "Interesting choice. But let us take care of you with our Dynamax!"
"We'll do the same." Ash says as they all do their Dynamax openings. Once they become bigger, Scrafty uses Max Darkness, which lowers the Special Defense of Indeedee. Indeedee uses Max Strike, and it also damages Scrafty a lot.
"Use Max Mindstorm." Luna says. "Even though it is a Dark Type, I still have a plan."
Though Scrafty isn't hurt by the move, the field changes into Psychic Terrain and he says, "This is for preventing Priority moves."
Ash clicks his tongue as he can't use Fake Out, but he still manages to win using one more Max Strike. Luna kneels and says, "Even the field fails me with this battle. But it sure is exciting after battling in such a nice place. You and your Pokemon deserve the Psychic Badge."
Ash and Luna shake their hands and then he gets the badge, then he is sent back to Earth with one more Teleportation.
Gloria is the next one to battle, and she wears the same outfit as Luna. "Welcome Challenger, I am Luna. Can you see outside this dome, the stars are shining upon us."
"You're right." Gloria says. "It sure is amazing in person."
"But will the star shine on me? Or it will shine on you, we should find out after this battle." Then they take out their Pokeballs and start the battle.
Luna sends out Swoobat first, while Gloria sends out Chewtle. Chewtle manages to Bite and use Water Gun, but Swoobat uses Future Sight to make it free from attacks. And in the end, Chewtle is defeated by the Shadow Ball.
Gloria sends out Liepard next, with the Attract and the Shadow Claw, Swoobat faints. Luna's second Pokemon is Alakazam, and Ash says, "Alakazam...this is not something I would see in Galar..."
Alakazam is using Teleport to dodge the moves from Liepard, and with the Drain Punch, it deals super effective moves to the Pokemon, causing Liepard to faint.
"I'm already in my last Pokemon?" Gloria frowns a little, "Well, I think I should use Kirlia."
As the Pokemon appears, Luna says, "Ah, you are using Kirlia...not a bad choice, you know."
Kirlia goes with Shadow Ball, and it defeats Alakazam with ease. Luna says, "Down to the last Pokemon I see, it seems that the stars really shine on you." She sends out Orbeetle as her final Pokemon.
"So that must be her Gigantamax..." Alice mutters.
Luna says, "Now Gigantamax, show the stars that you are worthy of the intelligence and power!"
Gloria says, "Then I'll Dynamax my Pokemon!"
When Orbeetle Gigantamax, everyone is surprised to see how its head becomes 5 times bigger than normal. Dawn says, "Orbeetle has become a UFO all of a sudden?"
"Now this is getting exciting." Ash says.
"Time to show you how space works! G-Max Gravitas!" Then it shoots out circles of light on Gloria's Kirlia, and after taking damage, Gravity goes into effect.
Serena asks, "What does Gravity do?"
"Well, the move enables Flying-type Pokémon or Pokémon with the Levitate Ability to be hit by Ground-type moves. Moves that involve flying can't be used." Ash says. "It is a tricky move as well, just like Miracle Eye or Foresight."
"I see." Lillie says. "It really is powerful."
But in the end, Gloria lands a powerful Max Phantasm, causing Luna's Orbeetle to faint. She recalls his Pokemon and says, "Excellent. You really have a lucky star shining on you." She walks toward Gloria and says, "This battle is really memorable because we are battling in space and also perform our Dynamax here. But now that you have experienced this, it is time for me to give you this Psychic Badge."
After Gloria gets the badge, he says, "You and your Pokemon really are something. If you want to go down, just go to the panel over there and it will send you back to the entrance. Good luck with your Gym Challenge."
Alice is the third one as she also completes the first with ease, Luna says, "You're the third challenger today that has come to space to battle. And let me guess, you have some special powers like Ash, don't you?"
Alice says, "Well, I have Aura, but I thought that Aura users and Psychics are enemies."
"They were in the past, but not for now. And I think we should get started with the battle." Luna says as she sends out her first Pokemon, an Elgyem.
As the Pokemon appears, Alice says, "So a Pokemon that was an alien, huh? It should be interesting. Sizzlipede, I choose you."
As the fire centipede Pokemon appears, Luna says, "So you are going for a Bug Type, huh?"
"You bet, use X Scissor." Alice says.
"Teleport again and then use Zen Headbutt." Luna says.
"Wrap it up and don't let it use Teleport! Then use Overheat!" Alice says as Luna gasps. Elgyem is hard to escape after being bound to the Pokemon so hard. And then the fire move deals a lot of damage to the Pokemon, causing it to almost close its eyes.
"If that's the case...we should take Sizzlipede down as well with Destiny Bond." Luna says as both Pokemon are now down. Alice frowns and she says, "I guess it isn't so bad."
"It sure isn't. But let's see how you face against my final Pokemon, which is going to be Mr. Rime."
As the tap-dancing Pokemon appears, Alice asks, "Mr. Rime? I have never seen this Pokemon before...From the looks of it, it is an Ice Type Pokemon, then I'll go with Butterfree!"
As the Pokemon appears, Luna says, "I see, but you're going to get an icy shock with the Dynamax, just like the temperature outside this dome." Luna says as she Dynamax her Pokemon, and Alice is doing the same, only that Butterfree is Gigantamaxing.
It tries to go for Max Hailstorm, but Alice has Butterfree uses Max Guard to block the attack, then it goes for G-Max Befuddle, which makes Mr. Rime paralyzed. Max Mindstorm is also used to deal a lot of damage to Butterfree, but Butterfree manages to stay still until they both are back to their own size.
"Finish with Bug Buzz!" Alice yells, and the attack causes Mr. Rime to faint in the end.
"Splendid, even the coldness from outer space is not going to stop you." Luna says as she takes the badge. "There is nothing better than handing you the badge."
Alice takes the fourth badge and thanks to her, then she also goes back to Earth.
After Alice and Luna get back on the ground, Alice hugs Ash and says, "I also did it as well."
"Good for you." Ash says. "So what is next?"
Luna says, "Well, the next one should be Kabu, the Motostoke Gym Leader. He is pretty tough, but I'm sure you can win against him."
"Thanks." Ash says as they all decide to go to the Wild Area and then Motostoke.
