Chapter 42 Laterally Date
Ash, Mark, Trenor, and Allister have been getting along well since they are brothers, they are talking about Pokemon and the girls also join their conversation as they finally arrive at Laterally Town.
"So what is Bea's battling style like?" Ash asks, "I heard that she uses Fighting Types."
Allister says, "Sister Bea is calm and collected even when facing dire situations in battle. So you shouldn't underestimate her."
As they arrive at the gym, they find out that she isn't in the stadium. "Strange, where did she go?" Gloria asks.
"I think that she may be there." Opal says as they see a dessert shop. "A dessert shop?" Alice asks in confusion.
"The harsh training might consummate her energy, so she will eat some sweets for replenishing her energy." Delia says.
"Then let's go there and see." Dawn says as they get inside.
While the girls are sitting at one table, Ash, Mark, Trenor, and Allister sit with Opal and Delia at the other, but they are quickly noticed by Bea, who has just finished eating her cake.
"Mom? Grandaunt? Allister? Mark? Trenor? What are you doing here?" Bea is surprised to see 5 of her family members gathering in one place.
"Hello, Bea. I think you haven't met your brother Ash Ketchum, right?" Delia says as Ash introduces himself.
"Oh, so you are my brother, if Allister is here, does that mean that you beat his gym?" Bea asks.
"He did. And he also helps me with my fear of taking off the mask." Allister says.
"You're right, you're not wearing masks." Bea says with surprise. "Interesting. I think I am looking forward to battling you, but I can't do it for today since my Pokemon are tired."
Ash says, "It is fine, we can wait for tomorrow. First, we have to eat some desserts."
Bea nods as she sits beside them, but she isn't going to order since she has already eaten a lot of desserts, according to herself, she has to stop eating or else she will get fat. After they finish the tea time, the girls also get to know Bea, and they understand that Bea's Pokemon are tired and they need to rest.
"Now who wants to come with me this time?" Ash asks. "I mean, all of you already have your turn."
"Maybe we should go back to the usual rock paper scissors?" Alice asks, and Lillie says, "I'll sit this one out, I've been with Ash two times already."
Without Lillie, the four of them are having the game, and eventually, Gloria is the winner, which means she is going to be with Ash this time.
Bea asks Delia, "Mother? What was that about?"
"Your brother is having a small harem." Delia says. "And for each town, he is going to bring one for a date."
"Brother sure is a lucky one since those girls really love him." Mark says.
"I agree." Trenor adds.
As they are walking on the road, they notice some trainers battling with Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop. Gloria says, "You know, all of those Pokemon are evolution from Tyrogue...but how come Tyrogue is capable of evolving into different species?"
Ash says, "Gloria, did you read the Pokedex Entry, it says that when evolving into a Hitmonlee, he needs to have his Attack stat higher than Defense Stat, evolving into a Hitmonchan, he needs to have his Defense Stat higher than Attack Stat. And finally, for Hitmontop, they have to be balanced, the Defense Stat and Attack Stat have to be equal."
"Really...but what if a person dislikes the Hitmonlee and likes the Hitmonchan instead, what is the person going to do?" Gloria asks, and Ash smiles, "Well, some say that Vitamins are good for Pokemon, and they can consume the bottle to raise their stat. There are also some methods like EV Training as well. Not to mention there are also some berries that raise the stats, but they are not good to eat."
"That sounds interesting." Gloria says as they continue walking, then they decide to change their topics and Gloria asks, "Serena has a Pangoro, but why did it have sunglasses on its head?"
"That Sunglasses is actually a gift I gave her when we are seven years old." Ash says with a smile. "You see, the Sunglasses is one of the prizes in the Summer Camp, and I won the prize with all my hard work. I gave it to Serena since she was going back to Kalos so that she can still remember me."
"But didn't you give her a Handkerchief already? I mean, you told me that the first thing she found you in Kalos is that she gave you back the handkerchief." Gloria asks, "You sure gave her a lot of stuff."
Ash says, "About that, I forgot about the handkerchief since it was tied to her foot injury and I never noticed it until the time we traveled together in Kalos."
"I see." Gloria says. "Since we are here, how about we play some arcades? This town is really famous for the Game Corner."
"That is a great idea." Ash says as they go to the Game Corner in the town, as they start to play with the arcade games.
Ash and Gloria are slamming on the arcade by using Machamp and Conkeldurr to fight against each other. They have been playing it so hard that a lot of people are watching them do that. In the end, Ash wins the match and he says, "Guess I won this round."
"Damn it. You really are strong, Ash." Gloria says. "So you have never played the Arcade before? I find it hard to believe it."
"Well, I didn't, I always focused on Pokemon battling every time, Dawn, Serena, and Lillie can vouch for that." Ash says. "What about you?"
"Are you kidding me? I played it ever since I was 5 or 6 years old." Gloria says. "But I guess you have the beginners luck, because that wasn't supposed to happen."
"I guess so." Ash says, "What are we going to play next?"
"How about the game of throwing the Leek?" Gloria says as she grabs him, dragging him to the place where they can see a Farfetch'd and Sirfetch'd sign with baskets that are moving. There are also some leeks in a basket in front of them.
"So we just need to throw the leeks?" Ash asks, and Gloria says, "Of course, there are 3 kinds of different baskets and there are also different speeds with each one, so we have to earn more points within the limited time."
"Oh, that sounds interesting." Ash says as they try out the game, and they all get quite high scores since Ash manages to throw the leeks in the ones with higher scores. In the end, their scores are capable of having 2 prizes, so they decide to take Throh and Sawk plush dolls.
They also try out some other games, such as the Hawlucha themed Flying Press game, as they jump from a high place and land on the giant pillow to see how much score they got, and there is also a Passimian ball arcade, which is basically a basketball game using Passimian's coconuts. There is also an arcade that is about trying to get out of Grapploct's Octolock, and it causes them to sweatdrop after playing the game.
"The games were really enjoying." Gloria says with a sigh as they are now sitting at the bar with Falinks presenting their drinks for them.
"I know." Ash says, "I am glad that I get to play a lot of games with you."
But just as they are drinking, they hear a commotion as they notice some thieves having guns in their hands.
"Hand over the money and nobody gets hurt!" The leader yells.
Ash and Gloria groan at the scene, they are here for a date, and they are not going to have it because of the sudden robbery. Gloria says, "Just great...a good date having to be ruined..."
"I am the Prince of Galar and I am not going to let people like them get away with the money." Ash says as he walks toward the thieves. "Who the hell do you think you guys are?"
"It's the prince!" The thieves and the people are gasping in surprise at Ash's appearance. The leader throws the Pokemon and so are the others. He says, "Who cares about him being the prince. We got what we need, let's scram!"
"Not if I say so." Ash says as he sends out Lucario, who asks, "Master, did they try to hurt you?"
Ash says, "First of all, call me Ash instead of Master since I treat Pokemon as equals. Second of all, no, but they are committing a crime. I can't beat them all, so I need your help."
"Okay, Master." Lucario says as he tries to battle against their Pokemon, causing a big mess in the bar and the others are fleeing for fear of the attack crashing them. After a while, the thieves' Pokemon are knocked out and Lucario also blasts them to the wall with the Aura Sphere.
"That's what you get for underestimating me." Ash says while whistling. But then, they see the owner of the arcade rushing in and he yells, "What's going on here? Who did this mess?"
Ash quickly shows his status to the owner, who is surprised to see that the Prince of Galar has arrived at the arcade, and he tells him about the situation and he also promises to compensate for the loss by giving him a lot of money. The owner insists that he doesn't need to pay anything since the region has high respect for royalty, but Ash still does it in the end. As for the thieves, they are being taken away by the police, as they didn't get any money from their stealing.
"You really have a lot of respect, Mr. Ketchum." Gloria says as she continues to drink her own tea.
"Yeah...I am not sure if it will be a burden or a good thing." Ash sighs.
After sunset, Ash and Gloria manage to get back to the hotel, and Delia asks, "Ash, Gloria, are you two okay?"
"We are fine, Mother, why do you ask?" Ash asks in confusion.
"The news has told that several people have tried to rob the Game Corner until the Prince's Lucario stops them." Delia says, "I know what they are doing is not right. Don't you remember that you are in public and you shouldn't do anything reckless in front of them?"
"I am sorry, mother. But I can't help as they not only send out their Pokemon, but they also try to do violence on innocents." Ash says.
Delia sighs and says, "I just hope that it won't happen again...Anyways, your girls are waiting for you in the room, why don't you tell them about how you two are fine?"
"Okay, we'll do it for sure." Ash says as he and Gloria leave Delia alone in the lobby. Delia sighs and says, "Well, Ash is still Ash, but that is my son."
Here is a new chapter, and this marks the date for the Fighting Type. I hope you like it. The next chapter will be the Gym battle.
