Percy held the flowers in his hand as he walked down the street. He breathed in and out slowly. The bag of items in his other hand pulled on it. He only had a few more blocks to go before he was home.

His apartment was coming up quickly. He walked up the steps and placed the bag on the ground. He fished his keys out of his pocket and opened the door. He put the keys in his pocket and picked up the bag.

The apartment was dark. Not a light was on and it was still dark outside. It was only five in the morning after all. He placed the bag and flowers on the island and turned on a light. He rummaged through a cabinet, finding a vase. He filled it with water and put the flowers in them.

The moonlace glowed under the moonlight that shined through the window. He placed the vase in the center of the island. He walked over to the bag and started to pull things out. He placed the heart shaped box of chocolates next to the vase. He pulled out a card.

He walked over to a drawer and pulled out a pen. He started to write on the card. He finished and placed it in the envelope. He wrote "My Valentine" on it and propped it up on the box of chocolates.

He smiled at the little display he had made for his wife, before pulling out the smaller box of chocolates. He placed it on the far end of the island. One of the only things his daughter would be getting today. She was far too young to be getting things from boys after all.

Percy took off his shoes and sneaked into his room. He slid into bed slowly, being careful to not disturb his wife. He turned over, only to meet his wife's eyes staring back at him.

"Hey love." She said softly.

"Hi." Percy smiled. "Sorry for waking you up."

"It's okay, I've been awake for a while."

"Well, since you're already up, Happy Valentine's day."

"Happy Valentine's day." She said before kissing him.

Percy melted into the kiss. They separated, slightly out of breath.

They got out of bed and went into the kitchen. Zoë smiled at seeing her flowers. She walked over to it and picked up the card. She opened it and started to read.

Zoë,

I know that we've been together for over 5 years, but each day still feels like the best of my life. You are my best friend, my everything. I love you, and I'm glad I have you in my life. So will you do me the honor of being your Valentine?

It was short, but sweet and honest. She turned around and ran to him, wrapping her arms around him. She placed her head in the crook of his neck. "Yes." She muttered.

Percy smiled and hugged her back.

"Daddy?" A voice came from behind them. "Mommy?"

They separated and faced their 3 year old daughter. "Yes Ava?" Zoë asked.

"What are you doing?"

"It's Valentine's day. And look! You have something!" Percy said. He walked over to the island and picked up the small heart shaped box of chocolates. He presented it to his daughter.

"What is it?" Ava asked.

"It's chocolate." He ripped off the cellophane and opened the box. "Look, see?"

Ava stared at the chocolate. Her mouth started to drool.

Percy picked one out and held it out to her. "Here."

Ava picked it up and bit into it. Percy stood up and turned to Zoë.

"Wait right here. I have your things." She said to him. She ran off into the room.

As she did, Percy couldn't help but smile to himself. He had his wife, child, and chocolate. He was happy in life.

It was a pretty good Valentine's day.
