Chapter 48 Glimwood Date
After they finally reach Glimwood Town, Bea says, "I almost forget, you haven't gotten these League Cards for Shelia? I have some."
After giving each a League Card, Ash reads the entry and says, "What? She was from a hunter family? I mean, even she is adopted?"
Gloria says, "Not to mention, she prefers art rather than illegal hunting so her parents disowned her. And thanks to Ms. Ketchum that she is saved and adopted..."
Delia says, "Indeed. As for her real family, they are arrested for hunting and they can't hurt others anymore."
"I see." Ash says.
Just then, Ash sees that her Linoone is glowing. Serena says, "Wait, Linoone is the final form, right? Why is he glowing?"
Alice says, "No way, does that mean..."
After the glow ends, it turns out to be a giant Pokemon and Ash mutters, "Obstagoon...I already know it has an evolution."
Obstagoon: The Blocking Pokemon: Dark and Normal Type. Evolved from Linoone at LV:35 at night. Its voice is staggering in volume. Obstagoon has a tendency to take on a threatening posture and shout—this move is known as Obstruct.
"So it is nighttime?" Dawn says, "Since this place is dark, it is hard to know."
"I know. But we should stay at Shelia's house so you can take part in the gym tomorrow." Delia says.
When they arrive at the house, Shelia opens it and says, "Mom? Mark? Trenor? Bea? Allister? What's going on?"
"Hey, Shelia. We are on our way to Grandaunt's house, but Brother is competing in the Gym Challenge and you're the next, so is it possible that we stay here?"
"Of course. I always wanted to meet my brother." Shelia says as they finally meet. Then they go inside the house for some rest.
Ash has a hard time getting some sleep as he walks out of the house at midnight, only to see Alice sitting next to the lake as she gazes at the moon.
"Alice, what are you doing here?" Ash asks.
"Can't sleep, and you?" Alice asks.
"Yeah..." Ash looks around and says, "So this is the whole town? It sure is pretty small."
"Ballonlea is actually close here, it will be bigger than this place." Alice chuckles. "How about we enjoy the view together?"
"Sure." Ash says as he sits next to her. "Want to talk?"
"Of course." Alice says. "Your sister is the Bug Type Gym Leader, right? Do you know what kind of Pokemon she will use for Gigantamax?"
"I only know Butterfree, but I don't know what others are there." Ash sighs. "Maybe she would use Orbeetle or Centiskorch? Since it can also Gigantamax?"
"It is possible." Alice nods.
Then they also talk some more and see the Bug Type Pokemon wandering the area. They see Vikavolt and Galvantula sleeping at the bay, Dwebble is digging the rock so it can rest in its new home.
"I wonder if she would use a Shedinja on it? I mean...it has the ability Wonder Guard, which prevents being hit by other types except for Fire, Ghost, Dark, Flying, and Rock." Alice asks. "By the way, Allister didn't use that on all three of us, right?"
"I don't remember he has used it...but I did remember he used it on Marnie..." Ash shrugs.
"Okay...Marnie was actually there when she fights Hop. I guess she told you what he used." Alice says.
"Maybe Shelia would use it on one of us, but I'm not sure." Ash says, and then much to his embarrassment, Ash's stomach is growling a little and Alice chuckles, "How about some midnight snack? I still have some honey crackers with me."
Alice shares some crackers with Ash, and he takes a bite, "Thank you, Alice."
When they are eating crackers, they also notice some Cutiefly flying around the flowers. Alice asks, "I wonder why those Bug Type Pokemon aren't sleeping during midnight?"
Ash says, "It is natural that some of the bugs stay up at night because of the Flying-type Pokemon as prey. But some of them have their preferences."
Alice nods and says, "It is amazing if you think of this way."
Then they also notice near the water, Wimpod and Dewpider are also active, and they watch them play around. A Shuckle also approaches them and gives them each a Berry Juice.
"Thank you." Ash and Alice pick the juice and the Shuckle just rests inside its shell. Alice says, "How come we didn't notice the Shuckle? I mean, it only has 5 Speed Stats in total without proper training."
"Maybe it has been hiding in its shell to make these berry juice?" Ash chuckles as he drinks the item. "And it tastes fresh and good."
Alice nods as she says, "Bug Type seems to be an amazing type to me, some of them are beautiful and some of them are pretty cool to use."
"Yeah, but I know someone that dislikes Bug-type Pokemon. Have I told you that Caterpie is the first Pokemon that I captured?" Ash says.
"You mean the mate of the Pink Butterfree you just gave me?" Alice asks.
"Yeah. When I captured it, I was really happy to have a Pokemon other than Pikachu on my team. However, I told you that one of my travel companions in the past, Misty, has fear of them." Ash sighs.
"You mean the Water-type gym leader that tried to stalk you for the bike Pikachu broke, right?" Alice asks.
"Yeah, all Caterpie wants is to be friends with her, and she has to be rude to hurt Caterpie's feelings." Ash sighs. "But I'm glad everything goes well after that."
Alice nods, and she notices some Karrablast and Shelmet nearby, she asks, "There is something I am not understanding about those two...Escavalier and Accelgor are their evolutions, right? How come they look really different from their pre-evolved forms?"
"That's because they evolve through trading, and they have to be the ones trading with each other if you want to evolve them." Ash says. "Escavalier is basically having Shelmet's armor, and Accelgor becomes naked from the armor because of it."
"Wow...Pokemon are mysterious." Alice nods. "Now I really want to see how strong they are tomorrow."
They also notice some Durants and Skorupi nearby, and some white-colored bugs hanging on the trees, Ash says, "I just hope that the Gym Mission for tomorrow isn't that bad..."
"What do you mean by that?" Alice asks.
"Some Gym Leaders that specialize in Bug Type intends to make their gym mission related to them, like walking on Spider webs, or crawling inside of silk..." Ash says, causing Alice to shiver a little.
"Sounds like we are bound to get dirty tomorrow." Alice says. "By the way, Ash. We have been through 9 gyms already, what do you think about them so far?"
"It is true that all the other regions have their 18 gyms, but we usually need to get 14 of them to compete in the League and the final four will be the Elite Four after you've become the Champion. I was surprised to learn that there are no Elite Four in the region and that every gym leader is capable of doing Gigantamax. I wished that every gym leader that I faced back in Kalos can have Mega Evolution..."
Alice chuckles and says, "You really like to battle a lot, Ash."
Ash sighs, and Alice has another question, "That reminds me, you already give the gems to our travel companions, Dawn, Serena, Lillie, and Gloria, right?"
"Yeah, but there are still two of them." Ash says. "Purple and White. I am not sure who I should give it to..."
"Don't you have feelings for someone that is similar to all five of us?" Alice asks in confusion.
"The thing is, I do, but we only met a few times, I'm not sure when I will get the chance to confess to them..." Ash sighs.
"Who are they? Can you tell me?" Alice asks.
"There is Chairman Rose's daughter, Elena. We actually walked with each other back in Grenomy, the one with the Psychic Gym and the Moon Battlefield." Ash says. "Remember the charms that I gave you all? She was the one that helps me pick them for you."
"The Swoobat Charms, I remember." Alice says. "Have you told her about your feelings back then?"
Ash shakes his head and says, "If that's the case, I would already give the Gem to her. But I did ask her about her ideal person. People see her as the daughter of the wealthiest chairman in the Galar Region, she only wants someone who sees her as who she is."
"Sounds like you fit the description. Maybe she is hinting that she likes you?" Alice asks with a small tease.
"If that's the case, how come I didn't realize it?" Ash sighs, "Maybe there is still some denseness in my head."
"Anyway, who is the other person?" Alice asks.
"Do you remember the one who we met a few times, Marnie?" Ash asks.
"Oh, the girl with the Morpeko. You told me that you hang out with her back in Stow-on-Side." Alice nods. "If you think about it, I could see her blushing around you as well."
"I did notice that, but I didn't get to confess to her yet. We talked a little, mostly about dark topics like ghosts or about Team Yell." Ash says. "I think the reason why she tries this gym challenge is because she wants to bring glory to her own town: Spikemuth."
"We haven't been to Spikemuth before, so we are not sure how bad it has been..." Alice says. "And I guess Team Yell are residents from there, right?"
"Yeah. They put all of their hope on Marnie and they just want her to win. And from what I've heard, that town specializes in Dark-type Pokemon, that's why they would try to do some dark things to the gym challengers on the way."
"I can tell." Alice says. "Thank you for this wonderful night, I guess it is time to get back, or else we don't have the energy to fight tomorrow."
"You're right." Ash says. They share an embrace with a kiss before getting back into the house for rest.
Here is a new chapter, and this is a special date between Ash and Alice. Since Glimwood Town is basically a small town before Ballonlea, there isn't that big of a place for them to explore. But I do hope you like their conversation, and the next chapter will be the gym battle. What will Shelia use on them? How will they get their tenth badge?
