Chapter 49 Glimwood Gym Battle
The next day has come, and Ash and his friends have finally arrived at the stadium. The staff says to Ash, "Hello there, Gym Challenger, are you ready for the Gym Challenge in this Glimwood Town?"
"Of course." Ash says. "I am ready to face whatever is in the way."
"Good, here is the uniform." Ash goes to change the uniform and this time it is green colored. "Number 151, I hope you are ready."
As Ash walks into the mission field, they see nothing but 6 people in front of them, each of them is wearing gym uniforms and Dan steps forward.
"The Gym Mission for the Glimwood Gym is this. You have to choose these papers in my hand, and then battle trainers in front of you for the corresponding colors for the artwork."
"Sounds interesting." Ash nods.
"Now good luck, Gym Challenger." Dan says as he leaves.
Ash picks the picture of the beach, which needs orange, yellow, and blue. Ash battles the trainers and he finds out that the trainers use the Pokemon that is corresponding to the colors that they hold.
"This is so cool." Ash says as he finishes the picture. Dan sees it and says, "Gym Missioned Clear. Now please go up ahead to the stadium."
Ash walks to the field and then Shelia is also there. Shelia says, "Welcome, brother. How do you like my challenge?"
"I have to say that it is very unique. How did you think of it?" Ash says.
"I like art, and it is how I use it for fun. Now enough of the talking, let's get started." Shelia takes out a Net Ball and says, "For the colors you haven't painted, I choose Centiskorch for my first one."
As the Pokemon appears, Ash says, "If that's the case, Seismitoad, I choose you."
Seismitaod uses Mud Bomb first, but Centiskroch dodges and uses Coil, raising the stats. "Use Fire Lash!"
Even though it isn't effective, the Pokemon Move makes the defense stat gets lower.
"This is really bad..." Ash says. "Use Hydro Pump."
"Counter with Flamethrower!" The two attacks are even as they both are reflected. "Use X Scissor."
Seismitoad is damaged badly, but then it defeats Centiskorch with the Sludge Bomb and the Toxic effect. Shelia says, "I have to admit that you are great, but can it face my Yellow-colored Pokemon, Vikavolt?"
As the Pokemon appears, Ash says, "Don't worry, my Seismitoad is Ground Type. So Electric Types won't work."
"Who says that I am aiming for the Electric Types? Sticky Web and then finish with Bug Buzz."
Ash is shocked as his Pokemon is easily fainted. Gloria says, "That Vikavolt is strong."
"I agree." Delia says. "Ash has to watch out for her as well."
Ash recalls the Pokemon and says, "Then I'll use Cinderace."
As the Pokemon appears, Shelia says, "Use Thunderbolt."
"Dodge and use Pyro Ball." Ash says. After the striker Pokemon dodge the upcoming attack, it then kicks the rock with fire and then hits the Pokemon, giving a lot of damage. "Use it again."
"This time dodge it." After dodging the rock, she says, "Rain Dance!"
The rain causes the firepower to weaken as Cinderace is struggling. "Good, Thunder."
Ash says, "No you don't. Use Bounce!"
But as it bounce, the Thunder hits the rabbit and it is in pain, then it slams hard into Vikavolt, causing both to knock out.
"That is a risky move." Bea says. "To endure that Thunder and give a finishing blow..."
"I agree." Dawn says.
Shelia is shocked as the weather also turns back to normal, she says, "I admit, I wasn't expecting this result to happen. You really are strong just like what Dad and Mom said. But I am not going down without a fight. Now time to face the harsh training I had before I was adopted. Frosmoth!"
As the Pokemon appears, Ash has never seen it before. "A Frosmoth?"
Alice says, "It's an Ice Type?"
"Yeah." Gloria says.
"Shelia, this battle sure is exciting, but this time I am going to try out this. Charizard!" Ash says as he sends out his final Pokemon.
As the Pokemon appears, Shelia widens her eyes. "Oh, dear...I know for sure how strong this guy is..."
She shakes her head and says, "Frosmoth, spread your coldness through the whole field by Dynamaxing."
When Frosmoth Dynamaxed, Aliister asks, "Brother's Charizard can do that, right?"
Trenor nods and says, "This is not going to end well for Shelia..."
Ash says, "Now Gigantamax time!" Ash yells as Charizard changes the form, and the crowd is shocked since the only ones they know that can do this are the Champion Leon and the Queen.
"G-Max Wildfire!" Ash yells as the Pokemon shoots out the move to Frosmoth a lot of times, Shelia tries to use Max Hailstorm to reduce the damage, but in vain, Frosmoth faints.
Shelia says, "I lost so badly..." She looks at Ash, "But it is not normal to face both your Pikachu and Charizard in the battle. I guess I am the lucky one."
"Well, yeah..." Ash says.
"Now you deserve this Bug Badge." They shake hands and Ash takes the badge.
Alice is the next one, and the picture she takes is of a snowfield with a frozen lake. After she finishes painting the picture with the colors needed: Blue, White, and Brown, and then she gets to Shelia.
"Hello to you, Alice. You're the trainer who is endorsed by my mother, how do you like your painting so far?" Shelia asks.
"It is very great, I actually enjoy arts, no matter what kind they are." Gloria says.
"I see. Now let's see how you can fight my Pokemon." Shelia sends out Araquanid as her first Pokemon.
"Araquanid...then I'll choose Pikachu!" Alice says as she goes with her own Pikachu.
Araquanid uses the rain to quickly surf the ground, and then it uses Bubble Beam to hit Pikachu, but with the rain's help, Pikachu also lands a Thunder, causing the Araquanid to be in pain.
"Use Leech Life." Pikachu is being sucked by the Pokemon and it struggles to break free.
"Calm Down, Pikachu, Iron Tail!" Pikachu uses the tail to make itself free from the attack. And then Alice says, "Now finish with Electro Ball!"
Pikachu uses the attack and then Araquanid is fainted. Dawn says, "The way she uses Pikachu, it really looks like you."
"Yeah." Ash replies.
"Now let's see how you face my Escavalier." As the Pokemon appears, Pikachu has been trying to dodge the barrage of attacks, but it is defeated when Escavalier uses Metal Burst after landing a Thunderbolt.
"I'm sorry, Pikachu, take a good rest." Alice recalls her Pokemon and says, "Litwick, I choose you!"
Litwick uses Will-O-Wisp, slowly burning the Escavalier. But Escavalier uses Brutal Swing, giving some damage. In the end, Escavalier is defeated by Inferno.
"Well done, I see I'm down to my last Pokemon. Here it is, Orbeetle!" Shelia says.
As the Pokemon appears, Alice gulps a little as she had a discussion with Ash the night before. Alice sighs, "But Litwick is a Ghost-type, I'll just defeat it with Ghost moves."
"It won't be that easy. Orbeetle, grow big and become the giant from space!" Shelia then Dynamaxed her Orbeetle.
Gloria says, "Usual Dynamax instead of Gigantamax...I guess the Gigantamax thing is for Luna."
"I agree." Mark replies.
"Max Mindstorm!" Shelia yells as the Pokemon not only defeats Litwick, it also sets up Psychic Terrain. Alice recalls Litwick and goes for Morgrem, also Dynamaxing the Pokemon.
"Use Max Darkness!" Alice yells, and Morgrem shoots out the Darkness on the Pokemon, which is super effective.
After exchanging attacks, Orbeetle and Morgrem are back to their normal form. "Use X-Scissor." Shelia says as Orbeetle charges at the Pokemon, but Alice smirks, "Use False Surrender!"
And in the end, the move causes Orbeetle to faint, giving Alice the win. Shelia says, "I didn't expect the False Surrender in the end, but you are doing a good job in this battle."
She gives Alice the Bug Badge, and she also whispers to her, "I also noticed how you and Ash were chatting outside. I must say you two are really cute."
Alice blushes as she leaves the stadium without muttering a word, causing Shelia to chuckle a little.
Gloria is the last one as she also paints a space with Earth on it, then she faces Shelia as Shelia says, "Welcome Gym Challenger Gloria. I am Shelia. Before we begin, I want to ask you, how are you feeling when you are painting the picture?"
"Well..." Gloria doesn't know how to answer.
"It's okay." Shelia says. "You don't need to answer, but right now, you are just like that paper, waiting to be painted by the upcoming battle, the same goes to me, now let's see who is the real painter."
She sends out Crustle first, while Gloria goes for Drednaw. Drednaw uses Razor Shell first, it hurts Crustle effectively.
"Rock Wrecker." Drednaw is hurt by the giant rock attack, Gloria says, "This is nothing. Use Jaw Lock!"
"X Scissor!" The two Pokemon are struggling at each other, not willing to hold back. "Use Shell Smash!" Crustle breaks its shell and then rushes forward to Drednaw, much to Gloria's surprise. "Shadow Claw!"
Drednaw faints after the powered up attack. Gloria says, "Return." She takes out her second Pokemon, Swoobat. Swoobat uses the Psychic to stop the Psychic Attacks, and then it uses Energy Ball to defeat the Crustle.
Shelia's second Pokemon is Golisopod, which uses First Impression to deal some damage. But Swoobat uses Confuse Ray to make it confused, Swoobat also manages to dodge the upcoming Liquidation. After a Psychic attack, Golisopod just goes back to Shelia.
"Emergency Exit, I see...Oh well, I was trying to save this for last..." Shelia sighs. "So you manage to come this far, huh? I'll show you the true beauty of art! Butterfree!"
As the Pokemon appears, Gloria says, "Oh boy..."
Ash says, "I guess it is her Gigantamax."
"I agree." Lillie says.
"Now Gigantamax, to the beauty and fearsome!" Shelia then enlarges her Pokemon and also makes it different.
"Look at the pattern...they sure are beautiful..." Alice says.
"That's Butterfree for you." Ash says.
"Use G-Max Befuddle, spray the colors of the status effects on the Pokemon!"
Gloria gasps as the attack not only damages the Swoobat, but it also makes it sleep. "Finish with Max Airstream!"
Once Swoobat is down, Gloria sends out her final Pokemon, Jolteon. Jolteon also Dynamax, but with the G-Max Befuddle, it gets confused this time. But after both Pokemon change back into their normal size, Jolteon snaps out of confusion and defeats Butterfree with Thunder. And then Shelia's Golisopod also gets defeated by the same attack as well.
"Nice, I can see flying colors in this battle." Shelia says. "That was really awesome...You have given me another inspiration for the next art work."
Then they shake hands and Shelia gives her the badge. "I wish you good luck on facing Grandaunt next."
"Thanks." Gloria says.
Once they are back at the reception hall, Shelia says, "So you guys are going to find Grandaunt?"
Delia says, "Of course. Auntie will be glad to see us very soon."
Ash says, "Then what are we waiting for? We should go to Ballonlea now."
"I think you are waiting for us?" They turn around and see Adam bringing Namie and Nora. Bea asks, "What's this? A family reunion?"
"I guess so." Adam says, "We saw your battle. It is great as always, Ash, Alice, and Gloria."
"Thank you." Ash and the others say.
"But what are you doing here, father?" Allister asks.
"Well, Delia called me so that we can go watch how Ms. Opal is doing." Adam says.
"And you shouldn't forget about us." Namie says with a pout.
Bea says, "Huh? You're not speaking like robot..."
Namie says, "And Allister isn't wearing a mask. Yeah, I decided to change thanks to Brother here."
Allister says, "Same for me."
Trenor says, "I guess it is better. Now should we get going?"
Then the group goes back into the Glimwood Tangle so that they can find the way to Ballonlea.
Now Ash, Gloria, and Alice have 10 badges each. The next chapter will be immediately go to the Ballonlea. I hope you like it this chapter, and guess who is Ash going with in the next chapter.
