Chapter X – Every cloud has a silver lining
Eve's POV
After the small tea party and just when Charlotte felt full, I stood up while placing her on the floor. The raven-haired girl giggled and questioned: "Ewie, can I expwowe the woom?" I acknowledged her with a gentle smile and off went the little girl to look around the room, which seemed like something out of a historical drama.
I was going to pursue her when I heard Everett clear his throat: "Hey, you hardly touched your muffins and I recollect you used to adore sweets. Is everything alright?"
Shrinking, I turn around and sighed: "I am fine. Peachy. After all, it's not like we're being chased by our father who wants to sacrifice our sister. Ah...wait. That's exactly what's transpiring!"
"Okay...okay, geez. Forget I asked. I assumed from all the sweets you appreciated before you'd turn sweeter, not saltier."-he scratched his head and rolled his eyes.
Glancing from my supposed brother to Alex who appeared deeply entertained by the scene, I was going to reply right away when I heard a flutter of feathers and sensed a tall presence behind me.
Their expressions darkened and each one sheathed their weapons: an elaborate kitchen knife for Alex and silver throwing daggers between Everett's fingers. In order to pacify them before something drastic happened, I spread my arms as if to cover the person behind me.
"Settle down, boys. He arrived with me." -I said as calmly as possible. They skimmed at each other and then at me, ultimately they nodded and withdrew their weapons.
Yet, despite their weapons being out of reach, the menacing glare remained. Alex strode dangerously close to the figure next to me and positioned himself between me and the other person: "And who might you be...sir?"
A booming deep voice chuckled as he came into the light. A middle-aged man emerged from behind me. It was a man I knew very well and one of the few people I would entrust with my life. Salt and pepper disheveled locks engulfed his angular jaws giving him a scruffy look.
Dark brown eyes, which seemed to engulf his enemies, analyzed each one of them. He crossed his thick arms which always appeared like they were going to tear his ebony suit. (I sure hope not. It would be the 7th time this week I'd have to repair it.)
"Well, well. Aren't ya all nice and proper, lad? I should be asking you, the same. After all, you're the one with my mistress."-he taunted. Alex appeared surprised and then turned to me as if to ask me for proof. I sighed and confirmed it.
"I thought I had advised you to stop calling me that, Edgar."-he chortled once again and patted me on the head. "Ahahaha, but I love when you get all fussy about it, mistress."
"Goddammit, Edgar. Really?"-as I pronounced the word "God", Edgar screeched and Everett snarled. Charlotte ran terrified to my arms and Alex placed himself in front of us: "Calm down, already! It's simply a word, it's not like you're going to be smitten right here."
They ceased their screaming and cleared their throats: "Apologies, it's the habit, milady." Everett shook himself violently as if he were a hound and chuckled weakly: "Ups, my bad."
Charlie leaped from my arms and approached Edgar carefully: "Awe you hurt, mista?"-he grinned fondly and kneeled in front of her gradually: "I am alright now. Thank you for asking, Miss Charlotte."
She giggled and hid behind me shyly. "Wait, why is his name familiar?"-asked Everett. I turned towards him and giggled: "Why he is my familiar. The raven who came with me."
Both my brother and Alex gasped and examined him up and down: "HE WAS THE BIRD?!" I nodded and waved at my partner who sighed and turned into a raven, as he landed on my shoulder.
"Edgar taught me everything I know. Every spell, hex, and curse. He's the one responsible for it. According to custom, it should be my predecessor but as there was none, Edgar took the job."-I tried to clarify but they were still dumbstruck at discovering out what he was.
"Wow...with so much weird shite you see every day, a bird turning into a person is the oddest? - I crossed my arms and puffed. They chuckled nervously. My head shakes at their silliness when I hear two distinct knocks on my door.
"May we come in?"-asks a scratchy voice which I identified as Slender. I nodded and Alex replied in my place: "Go ahead." The door squeaks as it opens, revealing Slender with a 12ish young girl holding his left hand.
Glancing at her made me wince for she looked like so many souls and people I had avenged before. The amount of blood caking her clothes and head told me everything I needed to know.
"I hope we are not interrupting anything, but I encountered young Sally knocking on your door, Alexander."- the tall man said as he waved the girl forward which was carrying both an old brown teddy bear and a small pink teapot.
"Alex, we were going to have tea today! I knocked at your door but you weren't there. Lulu went to look for you but I think she lost herself...again."-as she kept rambling while she walked forward, her small green eyes detected us behind him.
Alex facepalmed himself and apologized: "Oh no! Sally, I am so sorry. I can't believe I got distracted with time. I hope there is still time for a bagel." Her eyes ran across all of us while Alex apologized but when she saw both Everett and Edgar, who had turned himself again into a human, she yelled and hid behind Slender: "No...! Go away!"
They stood behind me sheepishly without knowing what to do when I squatted slowly in front of her, as I pulled Charlie in front of me: "It's alright, love. They won't hurt you. I'm Eve, you are Sally, right?"
Peeking behind his long leg, she nodded. Her lower lip kept quivering and I realized her physical form had become see-through. (A spirit which is seen by all? Wow, it must have taken her a long time to retain enough energy to be able to do so.)
Yet despite my soft words and gentle demeanor, Sally stood still behind his leg. (Poor thing, I hope the person who did this to you suffered immensely. Something inside me tells me they did...Good.)
Charlie who noticed the tension in the air walked forward and took her stuffed bunny from behind her to show her: "I wike your teddy bear! I awso have a bunny. Her name is Angel. What's your teddy's name?"
Sally realized there was another child in the room and soon enough forgot we were there too, so she approached Charlie and showed her friend: "Thank you! My mommy gave it to me and his name is . I like your bunny too!"
We watched them sit on the ground and chatter about their adventures so far. (They are so cute!) Slender sighed in relief and approached Sally: "Sally, dear I guess you weren't there when they arrived but they are the new additions to our house. Eve is an old acquaintance of Alexander. Everett and Edgar came with Eve, so don't worry about them."
Sally stood up while lifting Charlotte up too: "I see...Well, Alex's friends are my friends too! Slender, Slender can Charlie sleep in my room? Lulu and I still have one bed and it's been a while since I had a friend close to my age. Can she, please?"-she pouted and did her best puppy eyes.
Charlie thrilled to have a new and possibly her first friend imitated her friend and did her best pouty face: "Pwease...mista Slenda. Pwease, I'll be good."
He sighed and glanced at me: "I do not see why not, but you'll have to ask Charlotte's siblings. They are responsible for her after all." The girls shifted their attention to us with pleading eyes.
Everett sighed and looked at me. I gulped dryly and turned towards my familiar: "Edgar, get me a sigil. I'll charge it with a protective spell." My familiar smiled and joined his large hands over one another as if he were heating himself.
Whispering into his hands, his brown eyes turn into slits for a while: "Leanann mo shúile agus mo scáth í mar mise." Black flames form between his hands to which everyone, besides myself and Edgar, awe: "It is done, mistress."
His hands part and unveil a silver small pendant. I take it from his hands and focus a little bit of my energy inside it. (Something is missing. How shall she wear this?)
Yet when I was pondering on all the possibilities, I hear a slashing sound, which made me turn abruptly towards the sound. My supposed brother had three long red hairs of his in his hands as he started plaiting it: "Why are you braiding your hair?"
An uncharacteristically sheepish smile emerged on his face: "I heard that demon hair is used many times as an enhancer by magic wielders. So...I thought my hair could help keep her safe. Also, who did you think used to braid your hair?"
I turned my face and reached my hand: "Thank you..."-I said softly. He smirked and approached me: "Huh? I couldn't read it that well, but I swear I saw you thanking me. Did I see it right?"
I puffed my cheeks and grabbed the mid-done braid of hair from his hand, turning my back on him: "Just-just give it here!"Everyone except me chuckled at my embarrassment as I weaved the rest into the pendant.
It had become a fine bracelet, as the red hair turned into charcoal black in front of my eyes. Lifting an eyebrow I looked at my brother who whistled sheepishly.
Shrugging, I held Charlotte's small wrist with my right hand. She was shaking but her eyes seemed curious at what I was about to do. My eyes caught Sally's as I needed someone to pass my message. The younger girl nodded.
"Charlie, I want you to promise us something. You can't ever remove this bracelet for it will protect you or warn one of us of your location. If you ever feel in danger, we'll be right there to help you, okay?-I said as I wrapped the bracelet around her wrist, giving it a small knot, not without heating the ends so that the knot fused and it was more difficult to remove.
Standing up, I nod at Slenderman and at the girls. Sally then smiled at my permission and explained everything I said to Charlie. My little sister hopped and walked towards me with a smile: "Yes, big sista. I pwomise I won't take it off. Hehehe."
Slender then took both Sally and Charlotte into each one of his hands. (How Charlotte isn't scared of Slender is way beyond me, but oh well she does share that man's blood so she might have some kind of ability.)
Everett who had been silent for a while, approached Slender as soon as he saw him holding Charlie's hand: "Hey, where do you think you're taking her? Evie, will you just let him take her like that?"
My silver eyes pierced his: "Oh no, we're following them to her new room, besides I know he won't hurt either of us." He looked troubled: "And how do you know that, huh?"
Scraping my right arm where my runes, which were becoming increasingly painful, stood I said: "I was never wrong before..." At these words, I saw from the corner of my eye Alex wincing and gripping his fists.
(He knows more than he lets on. Oh well, he wouldn't be the first. It seems everyone knows more about myself than me, even Lizzie. Speaking of, wherein the bloody hell is she?)
With all these thoughts inside my mind, I decided to finally pursue them to Charlie's room with my companions, if I can call them that, following behind me.
30 minutes later...
Slender entered the room with our sister and a couple of minutes he departed as he gave us a brief nod of acknowledgment. Opening the door we saw the room where Charlotte would reside from now on.
It was delightful. The right wall where their headboards stood was lilac with their initials in cursive, on top of each bed: C, S, L. On the left stood a mint green bed for Charlotte, in the middle a magenta bed, and finally on the right stood a lilac bed of the same shade as the wall.
The right side was painted white with a black house stencil on one of the corners. In front of the stenciled wall was a little play kitchen, a table, and benches ready for a tea party.
A large wardrobe covered the wall next to the door we had entered. (That's it...I wanna live here, in this chamber. Can I live here with Charlie?)
Alex, who was snickering softly at my excitement, tapped me to release me from my daydream. Then, in the middle of the room, I saw Charlie chatting with her new roommates: Lulu and Sally. Lulu, the poor girl wore an old, tattered blue school uniform and had her black hair into twin tails. She looked 15 years old, but I could be mistaken. I could see that her long fringe hid what once had lost: her eyes.
The moment Slender presented her to us, she had a similar response to Sally when she saw Everett, except this time it was with me. To calm her, I stood as far from her but I tried to talk to her, having my familiar as a translator: "My mistress apologizes for the fact that she's making you tense, but she can't speak so I'll communicate on her behalf."
Lulu gulped and took a small step towards us: "You can't speak? Did someone take it from you?"-I seized the velvet choker that besides the soft appearance, gave me small shocks from time to time: "Her father sealed her voice. Spoken words are very strong when used by a witch. He couldn't have that."-Edgar explained as he patted me softly on the shoulder.
Alex who was also listening to the conversation, approached us with stone-cold green eyes: "Your father did this to you, Evie? Is it hurting you? Where does the tosser live?"-he was going to clutch my hands but seeing as I was trembling from his questions, he withdrew with a pained look in his eyes.
"I don't know...I don't remember. I just recall one day waking up and feeling this strong chokehold around my neck as if I couldn't breathe. When I tried to utter a light spell to see my surroundings, I realized...that I couldn't speak. It has been 10 years since then."-I enveloped my arms around myself and turned my back on them.
"Evie...I swear we will find a way to remove the choker. I promise to you."-Alex said with perseverance in his eyes. Something in them made me believe in him.
His eyes made me falter on my defenses like they were pulling at something inside me. Yet, they saddened me, they saddened me greatly as if I was overridden with regret and shifted my gaze from him to my brother who looked as if he were drilling daggers with his eyes unto Alex: "Everett, be polite."
At the mention of his name, his lips widened into a toothy grin: "You said my name. Oh, sister." Eye-rolling at this, I said: "I do not understand the big deal. It is your birth name. Is it not?"
Moistness appeared in his eyes, as he nodded and tried to dab at his eyes: "Yes, yes it is. It's just you were being ever so defensive and for once I thought...you despised me."
Producing a handkerchief from my pocket, I felt something fall out of it. It made a clanking sound on the floor, it was my blue velvet sack which I always kept with me.
"Oh no, I hope it's not broken!"-I crouched and picked it up. I felt the boys enclosing on me, curious of my finds: "What is it, Evie?"-asked Alex who glanced curiously at it.
Everett reached a hand and tapped the sack which I quickly removed from his reach: "Hey, don't touch it! It could be dangerous."-I said warningly. "It could be? You don't know?"-he asked.
"I have no clue of what it is, but I saw it peeking out in father's study and...I felt a great connection to it. So,...I stole it."-I wiped any dust from the small sack on my hands and drew a relieved smile: "Since when do you have it?"-asked Alex, who was now beside me.
"Good question. I think it's been 5 years since I found it. The weird thing is: how can such a small trinket make me feel so afraid?" - I felt the weight of their eyes upon me.
My brother approached me, took the forgotten handkerchief from my hand, and blew his nose. This made me draw a small smile. (Ah! He is a softie after all. Who would say?)
"You should open it."-he said after seeing if he was presentable or not. Clutching the sack, I saw as my hands around it started quavering: "I...I don't know if I should. I have a really bad feeling about this."
Everett approached me and laid his hand on top of my head. (Wow, he is fucking giant! He needs to bend his neck to reach my face. I really should start wearing heeled shoes more often.)
"Everything will be alright. If that is what I think it is, you shall recover all your memories. That's what happened to me when I touched my object."-he removed his hand from my head and unveiled a small brown worn-out beret.
I noticed how fondly he looked at his beret and thought that maybe remembering my memories couldn't be that bad, right? After all, my life couldn't be in any way worse than it was already...
My hand started untying the light blue lace when I felt someone squeeze both my hands. These hands were shaking and as I looked up to see their owner. It was Alex who seemed desperate to stop me.
"Evelynn, please don't! The answers you are looking for might not be what you want to hear. I know I do not have the right to stop you from seeing them but I don't want you to suffer."-he took a deep breath with a distressed look which softened at my surprise.
"Yet, I know that when your mind is set on something, you will follow it through till the end. Whichever you choose to do, I will respect it and I'll be with you every step of the way."-his hands were warm in contrast with mine. (This man, I must have made a great impact on him.)
"Why are you protecting me so much? Who was I to you?"-I asked. He squeezed my hand softly and released it. "You gave me more than you may imagine. Thanks to you, I had hope and so much more. I let you down one time, I refuse to do it again."
When he removed his hands, I felt so empty, like they were meant to be intertwined in mine. He didn't answer all of my questions, however, I noticed the ache in his words as he revealed his worries about me. I would not press him for answers...Not this time.
This was hard. I had no clue of what to choose. Both Everett and Alexander had different opinions about my memories. Whereas my brother was eager to have me remember him, Alex looked like I had just endangered his entire family. What should I do?
My eyes catch my familiar's. His face matched Alex's, yet still...I had to ask: "Edgar, what should I do?" The previously semi-closed brown eyes opened widely: "Milady, I think you should-! No... It is your life, Evelynn. The choice is yours. No matter what you choose, I will be here."
I see, for Edgar to say my full name in a non-jesting manner means this choice will either enlighten me or break me. If not both... (Oh if only Lizzie was here now.) She would probably slap me out of my stupor and tell me to get on with it. My friend might have not looked like it, but she could be quite impatient and direct when pressed.
This brought a small muffled chuckle out of me, which startled my companions who waited for my answer. Yes, she would probably do something like that.
Breath in, breath out. My eyes slid across Edgar, Everett, and Alex: "I'm opening it. I do not believe that ignorance is bliss. To me, ignorance is as if we were missing one of our senses. Pure indoctrination. That's what ignorance is...And who knows, perhaps I will find a way to end father's pursuit."
The ones against bobbed weakly. Everett was the only one excited, with a large grin on his pale face. My small calloused hands, from all the sewing I usually do in my free time, untied the light blue laces and turned the sack to let the item fall on my hand.
I shut my eyes until I felt something cold drop on my hand. My eyes opened once again and Alex choked. He was trembling with a hand over his mouth: "That watch...you bought-? Everything because of that watch..."
He started pacing around the room, mumbling to himself. I couldn't understand him from how fast he was speaking. Whatever this object was, he seemed to recognize it.
My fingers outlined the intricate silver lining surrounding it. A silver pocket watch? My last item was a pocket watch? I thought only men used it back in the 1800s. It seems that I always enjoyed breaking gender norms. Something was scratching my palm.
Curiosity overtook me and I angled the watch around. There was something written on it «We're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.» Warmth filled my chest at these words. Perhaps this was a present. Alex seems to know something about it but he is in a panicked frenzy.
Everett shrugged and strode forward with a sparkle in his eyes: "So...? Did you see something? Does your head hurt?" Sighing, I placed the pocket watch back into its sack: "No. I saw nothing. Maybe this isn't my item. The feeling I had might have been just pure curiosity."
He sighed in dismay: "Damn it! I thought it really was going to help you. Oh well, next time I go out I'll go look for the item." I peered at Alex who approached us once again: "No, that is her item. I am quite sure of it."
My familiar placed his large hand on top of my scarlet locks and patted it: "Alex is right. Perhaps the item is sealed by some ancient magic. It sounds like something that wanker would do."
For once, I thought I was going to have answers. Guess I was wrong. Perhaps my memories aren't meant to return. My head sank and I clenched my hands. A small hand grabbed mine and I peered into her owner, Charlotte, who meanwhile had changed clothes to a black dress with white lace and lining. On the chest area, was a large black bow on the white lace area.
There was a small problem though. Tiny tears were sliding down her cheeks as she grabbed a small pink brush and a white headband with a black lining. At the sight of her tears, I crouched and analyzed her for injuries: "What happened, poppet?"-asked Alex worriedly.
Sniffing as she rubbed her blue eyes, she wept: "I- I want pweety hair but...sniff I don't know how...sniff." I drew a soft smile and stood up. Pulling her by the hand, I sat on top of her new green mattress. I placed her on my lap and took the small brush.
The girl who saw me start to brush her hair approached me curiously. Lulu stood behind Sally who saw as I combed through every knot slowly: "Evie, evie can you do mine next? My hair is so long I always have problems brushing all of it."-asked Sally eagerly.
I nodded as I parted Charlie's hair in two, pleating each section into a low french braid. Charlotte kicked her little feet back and forth while humming a soft tune with her toy rabbit in her arms: "Big sis, big sis will I have pweety long hair like you when I grow up?"-she asked.
At her words, I realized I had left my hair down till now. Should I tie it or not? I'm not used to displaying so much of myself, just around my sisters and father because he demanded it. Oh to hell with it, I'll tie it later.
Thankfully my little sister had forgotten her question. I felt a weight on my left shoulder, Sally was observing what I was doing: "Wow, Evie your fingers work so fast. How can you do it?"
Her curiosity brought a soft chuckle out of me. I explained to her the reason behind my skills if you can call them that: "You have younger sisters? Could you present them to us, one day?."-she asked.
Talking about my sisters, made me realize how much I miss them. I wonder how they are now. I hope nothing bad happened to them. Then for the first time in a while Everett, who had been debating something with Edgar, stepped forward and sat cross-legged on the lavender rug in front of us: "Not just little sisters, but little brothers as well. The castle was rarely quiet from all the roughhousing."
Charlotte, who got tired of sitting still, jumped as I was going to place her headband: "I have more sibwings?!"-Standing up, I sigh and place her headband onto her head. (Mischievous little girl, I was almost done!)
Alex, who had sat on an armchair in the corner of the room with his face onto his hands all this time, revealed his face from between his fingers and looked up at us. Behind his sad eyes, he drew a weak smile as if this brought him good memories.
This is so weird, usually, I'm good at reading people like books, yet I can't read him no matter what I try. Spinning around the room, Charlotte pulled me out of my thoughts as she curtsied: "Thank you, big sis! I wove it. Hehehe..."
Sally, who was envious of all the attention, jumped onto my neck: "Evie, do my hair, please!"-I chuckled at her behavior and saw as Lulu took small steps as if to approach us, then she finally sat down on the bed beside ours and watched carefully.
Seeing her slowly opening up to me made me grin. I grabbed the small pink brush and started on Sally's hair while Lulu and Charlie played house in the corner with the playing kitchen.
Everett soon enough got bored and left the room, off to find his own room. My familiar, who was sharing some words with Alex, left to place some sigils around our rooms: mine, Charlotte's, and Everett's.
Only Alex remained in the lonely armchair in the corner. Some minutes later, I finished with Sally's hair. She also wanted two braids, so I had decided on two fishtails. After I finished her hair, she jumped from my lap and went to show her hair to the other housemates: "Thank you, Evie! I'm gonna show it to the others."
It started to get quite dark, but I could swear that it was sunny just a while ago. When I took Charlotte it was night, but the moment I stepped into these woods it had been as if it was the day. A cloudy day, but a day nonetheless. This bewildered me tremendously, and it must have shown on my face because Alex appeared from my right: "The time around this house works differently."
This statement sparked some curiosity inside me: "How so, Alex?" He chuckled and pointed outside as he explained: "Seeing as most of us "hunt" during the night time, Slender switched the time around these woods. That way, when the outside sleeps, we are fully awake to proceed into our daily hunting. Soon will be time for supper."
Oh great...jet leg inside a house. As if my sleeping schedule isn't fucked up enough. This made me grimace: "How...thoughtful." (Wait, supper? Oh no, I need to change clothes. I'm dressed way too formally for a simple dinner.)
Chuckling loudly, Alex held into his stomach. (Wait, was I rambling? Oh no!) After he dried his tears from the laughter, he smiled fondly, which made me quite fuzzy inside: "Oh Evie, I missed and needed that. Don't worry about what you're wearing. To be honest you must be one of the best-dressed people in this mansion. Yet, if it worries you this much I can accompany you to your room. Then you can get changed and I'll guide you to our dining room."
"I mean...I would love to but, what about Charlie?"-I asked worriedly. Alex explained the situation to Lulu, who was changing the clothes of one of the dolls, and looked up from her sitting position: "I'll help Charlie wash her hands, and then, I'll take her to the kid's table."
I felt more reassured at her words and nodded. Charlie noticed me and waved: "Bye, bye big sis!" I waved back and shifted to Alex who opened the door and bowed with a hand on his stomach: "Ladies, first..."
This would have brought a flush to my cheeks if I still had a beating heart. I remember that it used to beat after I woke up for the first time. It stopped ten years ago, sadly. Guess, I'll never understand why.
Nodding shyly, I left the room. Alex closed the door behind us and scratched his scalp, with a light blush on his cheeks: "Well, let's be off, shall we?" A small smile appeared on my lips and I followed behind him.
For once, I thought that he was going to pester me with questions just like my brother, but he did not. I felt him sometimes peering at me but he never said anything besides the owners of each room we passed.
One would think that staying in silence would feel awkward but, no. Actually, I don't think I've ever felt this relaxed. (This is so weird...Whatever connection I had with this boy in the past must've been quite strong. I hope one day I recall it.)
As I was analyzing this boy beside me, he cleared his throat and I realized we have been standing in front of my room for a while. (Oh, how embarrassing! I hope he hasn't noticed it.)
From the mischievous glint on his grass-tinted eyes, he probably did and felt quite smug about it: "I do not mind being analyzed by such a lovely lady, but we've been here for quite a while. So, perhaps later?"
Punching his shoulder lightly, I proceeded to open my door: "Ahahah, no need! Perhaps another day. Well thank you for bringing me here but I got to go."-I explained nervously. (This boy is impossible!)
I started closing the door behind me when I saw him wave with a smirk on his face: "See you later, Evie. I'll pick you up for dinner." Waving back, I closed the door behind me and took a deep breath with my back against the wall. (That cocky bastard! I'll teach him, hmph!)
(Now, where is my wardrobe at?) I looked around the room when I finally found a wooden wardrobe next to my ritual room. So many clothes, what should I wear? Aha! Among all the dark dresses I had, I decided on a knee-length black dress. The sleeves flared at the elbow and the skirt reached my knees so it wasn't too short.
Now, I need to find some stockings and comfortable shoes. After deciding on what I was going to wear I took them behind my changing screen and changed. My skin was so pale that it seemed sickly, which caused a greater contrast with a red scar I had on my lower stomach. (That bastard...as if waking me up wasn't enough for him.)
I tried to shake these thoughts off my head and finished changing. After placing my clothes in the laundry basket, I inspected myself in the foot-long black mirror next to it. (Something is missing...but what?) As I turned to look for the missing detail, I saw my hair fall in front of my face. (Ah, that's right! I need to tie my hair. Maybe a half up with a bow.)
Looking amongst my drawers, I found some black ribbon and proceeded to tie my hair with a small bow as I had envisioned. After giving my hair a few brushes, I twirled around admiring what I had done. A small childish chuckle brought me out of my thoughts.
I turned behind and looked around but I saw nothing. Weird. As I was going to look around I felt something barbed wrap around my waist and my mouth: "What in the-?!"
My eyes peered behind me and I saw some black vines pulling me inside the mirror. (Well shit...Which ghost have I pissed off now? And this is why I hate mirrors.) The last thing I saw was the familiar green eyes of my best friend Lizzie appearing through the walls: "LIZZIE!" And all went black, leaving only a broken pink china teacup where I once stood.
Chapter X-END
Leanann mo shúile agus mo scáth í mar mise-My eyes and shadow follow her as so do yours
