Taiyang smiled as he watched his two daughters Ruby and Yang play in the yard. Then frowned when he remembered Qrow ate all the snack cakes. 'Not cool you old bird.' He says. He looks up and sighs. 'Well I do need to go get some groceries soon. I'll do that tomorrow what the fuck?' Taiyang suddenly asks himself as a portal made of black and blue mist opens in the sky.

He, Ruby, and Yang watch in shock as a boy no older than 7 is thrown out. Crashing through a tree. "Oh god! Kids! Get inside! I'll see what's happening." Taiyang yells. He ran towards the treeline already hearing the flapping of wings.

Qrow appeared besides him running towards the kid. "Is this Raven's doing?" He asks. "No. Raven's semblance never did this." Qrow answers. "Well whoever did this better hope that kid is still alive. Or they're in for a world of hurt." Taiyang growls.

When they find the boy in question he was astoundingly fine. Albeit underdressed if the torn clothes are an Indication. The only thing to survive were a pair of oversized gloves and turtleneck sweater. With a blank journal besides him.

Taiyang pressed his fingers to the boy's neck and checked his pulse. Sighing in relief that the kid is alive. He notices the Dog tag necklace and looks it over. "Well we got a name at least. Ethan Sanchez." He says. "Go clear the table and set a blanket and pillow on that." Taiyang says as he picks up Ethan. He grabs the gloves and carries him through the forest into his home.

He sets the boy down on the table as Qrow brings a Medkit. "Is he gonna be okay?" Ruby asks. "Yeah. He should be okay. Honestly he should be injured but he isn't. Best I can do is just hope he's still alive." Taiyang says.

Ruby looked on in curiosity and then looked at the metal bands on his wrists. She curiously touched it but flinched when she was shocked. Before deciding to head back to Yang. Eventually Ethan blinked awake.

"Hey Dad! He's awake." Yang says. Ethan turns to Yang with curiosity and saw a man bigger than him walk into the room he woke up in. "Hey. You took quite the tumble there. You feel okay?" Taiyang asks.

"Feel. Fine." Ethan says. Taiyang hums at his way of speech. "Do you remember where you came from?" He asks. "Yes. But. No. Abandoned. And. Ruined." Ethan says. "Abandoned and ruined huh? Hmm that somewhat narrows it down a bit. Do you have anyone I can call?"

"No. Only. Living." Ethan says pointing to himself. "Oh." Taiyang says. He ponders his options before coming to his own decision. "Well since you don't have anyone to take care of you why don't you stay with me?" Taiyang suggests. Ethan simply agreed because he was hungry.

(10 years later.)

Ethan hummed in contempt. Sinking into his scarf. He was listening to a few songs on an old tape he found. He bobbed his head to the music and simply enjoyed it. "Hey." Until someone spoke to him. "Hey You. You're sitting in my spot." He says. Ethan looks up at who decided to bother him today. And see's it was another attendee for Beacon.

"Get out of my seat dammit!" He says. "Denied." Ethan says before looking back down to read the label on his tape. Only retaliating when he grabbed Ethan's shoulders. Using his Blackburn ability to slap him across the room. His eyes blinked the black energetic flames away and he sighed in contempt. "You're gonna regret that." The guy says. "No." Ethan says.

Ethan simply entertained himself as he waited for the inevitable. "BIIIIIG BROOOOOOOOOOO!" Ruby yells as she tackle hugs Ethan. "Hello." Ethan says as he catches her by the hood. "BIG BRO! I'M SO HAPPY!" Ruby cheers as she dangles in his hand.

"Glad." Ethan smiles. "I'm so stoked to finally attend Beacon! Its been my biggest dream ever!" Ruby says. "Hmm." Ethan says. "Maybe I'll finally get you to say more than just one or two words." Ruby says. "Nah." Ethan says before dropping her. "Hey!" Ruby says.

"Suffer." Ethan says. "Oh come on Bro. Give your sis some slack. She did get in Beacon early." Yang says. "No. Equals." Ethan states. "See this is why your my favorite sibling. Yang here just acts like a dotting mother instead of a sister." Ruby says Hugging Ethan. "Off." Ethan mutters as Yang gasps loudly. "Oh No! My own little sister betrayed me! How could you?" Yang dramatically asks.

"Ego. Unchecked." Ethan says. And Yang felt a genuine betrayal in her heart as Ruby fell to the floor laughing her ass off. Ethan lightly chuckles as well before grabbing his weapon. "Oh, Is this your weapon you were working on." Ruby asks as she took a seat beside him. "Yes." Ethan says as he checks it over. "What's its name?" Ruby asks.

"Blackthorn." Ethan says as he holds up the weapon. It was 4 foot long curved blade that has channels in to for the motorcycle like engine to vent out the Blackburn fuel in it. It can fold out into a rocket boosted scythe and be collapsed to rest on his back.

"No guns?" Ruby asks. "Separate." Ethan says as he puts his sword away to pull out a 17 inch pistol shaped device. "Bullet Thorn." He calls it. "It looks so pretty." Ruby says. "Hmm." He grunts as the airship lands. He heads out with Ruby and Yang. Listening in as they gush over Beacon. He was simply indifferent. But regardless he will support them and Find some answers.
