Prologue
"Oh, dear, shouldn't you be on your way now?"
Kagome didn't bother to glance away from her overly-stuffed bag as she nodded her head quickly. She worked on jamming in the last few needed supplies and hurried to shut her bag before anything could magically burst out. It was a miracle alone that she'd managed to fit as much as she did in the bag. When she went to put it on her back, she squeaked as she was nearly pulled backward from the weight. She caught herself before her weight could fully tip, and a sigh of relief spilled from her. "Yeah, that's why I'm trying to hurry," she said, responding to her mother as she stood in the doorway, silently observing her packing techniques. "Knowing Inuyasha, he's probably waiting by the well right now…"
Honestly, she was just lucky he hadn't come through the well to get her himself, as he was often prone to do. He'd become a little bit more patient, if even that, since the jewel was completed and Naraku got entirely taken care of. She didn't have to keep going back, she knew, but she couldn't just up and stop her time traveling so suddenly. She wanted to keep visiting and spending time with her friends that lived on the other side of the well.
When she was positive she had everything she needed, Kagome made her way down the familiar path that led to the well. She let the well house doors close behind her as she made her way to the object that served as her portal throughout the times. Climbing up to sit on the lip of the well, she came to a halt, freezing with one leg over the lip of the well and hanging off into the abyss below.
"... huh."
Sitting there, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelmingly powerful surge of unease. It started in her chest and steadily got more and more prominent as she sat in the familiar darkness of the small building. Her grip on the splintering wood tightened a fraction, and her eyes narrowed.
Why did something feel so off? She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something about the well felt alarmingly different. Blue eyes glared into the dark pit she placed herself before.
For a moment she contemplated not going down the well. To just take the chance of her irate hanyo friend coming to get her himself once his impatience got the better of him at last. She quickly shook that idea off. After all, for all she knew there could be something occurring on the other side of the well that caused this strange feeling. If that were the case, then she knew she needed to go and make sure everything was alright.
Kagome shook her head and shimmed a bit more so both of her legs dangled off over the edge, fixing her bag in place on her back in the same motion, before she abruptly plunged her body forward.
The glow that greeted her wasn't the powdery-blue one she'd come to know. The glow that surrounded her on her descent was stark white. An overbearing pressure fell to rest on her shoulders, somehow dragging her dor far further than she'd ever fallen down the well. The light faded so slowly, and that strange feeling grew in power. It seeped into every inch of her body, overwhelming her and flooding her heightened senses. A cry dying to be freed got caught in her throat as her fall slowed entirely to a halt. Though she'd stopped, Kagome was aware that she was not on solid ground.
All around her, darkness flooded each and every corner. The glow seemed to have receded drastically around her, lighting only her own body up. It did nothing at all to urge away the darkness that lurked around her on every side.
The jewel hanging around her neck flickered. The radiancy of it wasn't so prominent in the abyss around her, but she was keen to feel the way its aura shifted some- seemingly as if it was battling against something on its own. A sharp, splintering burst of pain shot through her chest as a bright burst of light swelled up around the jewel. She squeezed her eyes shut, unable to face the bright light that had formed around her.
The jewel's aura faded. It changed, twisting into something familiar yet unnervingly different at the same time. When she opened her eyes next, the bright glow produced by the jewel had faded. She lifted it by the string bound around her neck, and her eyes widened as she stared at the glimmering stone. No longer was it that pure, rosy pink. The pink color had morphed into a faded yellow tone, peppered with tiny, white glimmers like glitter.
Confusion swelled up inside her as she let the light grip she had on the jewel fall, and it fell back to rest against her chest like it always did. She was startled when a deep voice echoed through her head.
"Chosen one…"
She didn't recognize it, and she felt her unease grow when it seemed to have some sort of link with her. She was able to feel it bound to her in a way. She had barriers in place to prevent outside forces from entering her mind, mainly to keep herself safe from mind control. How had something broken through without so much as damaging her barriers? They were all still perfectly intact. She hadn't felt the strain of the snap. She hadn't felt any prying eyes.
Despite the way her confusion continued to mount, Kagome lacked the time to process what she felt before she began to fall again. This time, she fell much faster than ever before. The darkness faded and a bright and colorful world burst to life, painting her view, however…
"Uwah!" Even with her hair ruffling up wildly, she could still see the rapidly approaching ground with clarity. She squeezed her eyes shut, as if doing so might make her impending impact any less painful. At the same time, she did something much smarter and pre-emptive, and allowed her energy to create a protective barrier around her to at least break her fall, even if it was only by a little.
She collided with a splash, her body landing in water at least. Her barrier evaporated once it hit the water, and her body sank. She flailed her limbs as she tried to swim back to the surface.
She gasped and sputtered as she got pushed around by violent waves, struggling to keep her head above water as a particularly rough wave slammed down on her. She was pushed and pulled along with the waves as if she was nothing more than a rag doll.
Through her struggles, she could see the faint outline of a sandy shore, and she tried to swim for it. She didn't make it far before another harsh wave yanked her further out, the force nearly pulling her under the water. Struggling for her bearings, she tried to locate the shoreline once more, but, before she could, she was forced forward again. This time she collided with a large rock protruding from the water's surface.
A rush of pain followed, blood dripping from a large cut along the side of her head. Black spots speckled into her vision as she was sloshed around in the raging waves. Another large wave crashed down on her, forcing her entire body back beneath the water's surface. Her body felt heavy as her eyes closed, unable to keep them open any longer as her consciousness started to flicker away from her.
Her sense of awareness was fading fast, and she could only briefly feel the touch and pull of something grabbing hold of her arm. Her eyes fluttered, and she was confused when she slowly realized that she was no longer in the water, but resting on her back on the shore. By pure luck, the waves had carried her close enough.
Her eyes felt too heavy to keep open, even as the figure that'd pulled her from the violent waters peered down at her.
"Are you okay?"
Despite the pain she felt in her head and her burning lungs, she tried to nod. Her eyes still felt so heavy, and, as they fluttered closed, she heard the man speak again. As her consciousness fully faded, his exclamation failed to register in her mind, however.
"H-Hey!"
Auroua-chan: Short, but the next updates will be longer. I'm really excited for this story! Pokemon Legends: Arceus has so many neat characters and I honestly love them all in their own way haha.
So something strange happened to the jewel. Its appearance has changed, and so has its aura. More on it will come soon! More will come in the next chapter about who pulled Kagome out of the water and all that. Will she have her memories, or will she not be so lucky?
Pairing is final, but might have some Adaman/Kagome shipping and hints here and there.
Pokemon suggestions are welcome! She won't exactly catch them with pokeballs, but they'll be her companions. She can have more than 6 as well.
Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
Bye for now~
