Chapter One

The ache in her head was tremendous, and she was reluctant to let her eyes even open. Her body felt weightless as if it were just floating. For a moment she felt nothing at all, and the next, she felt an overwhelming aura that seeped out and overpowered every bit of her senses. She was startled, her eyes opening against her own desires, and she was stunned to find herself suspended in a void of stark white and yellow.

There was nothing, no sort of distinct shape she could map out as far as she could see. She frowned, blue eyes darkening with a plethora of uneasy emotions.

"W… Where am I?" The question was whispered, and she didn't expect an answer, so when one came her way, she was startled. She recognized it almost instantly from the voice she'd heard during her descent down the well at the start of all of this.

"Thou's destined path has brought thou here."

Destined path?

Kagome resisted the urge to huff at the idea alone. Who had the right to push her down all these so-called destined paths? More importantly, didn't she get a say in her own destiny?

"It's a hard pass from me," she retorted, turning to face the voice that'd called out to her. When she turned and finally allowed her eyes to land on the owner of that overwhelming aura, she was suddenly stunned silent. Her eyes were wide as she gazed upon the massive creature that lurked behind her.

Uncannily deer-like, yet nothing like any sort of creature she'd ever been one to witness, she was both perplexed and fascinated by its appearance. It radiated a pure light, one she was able to find a bit of solace in. Standing before it felt comforting, in a way. Though she knew not what it was, or what it necessarily wanted, she couldn't find any sort of unease as she stood before it.

That didn't mean she would freely go about with its words, however.

"I don't know where I am, who you are, or what you want from me," she said, finding her voice after a few moments of silence from both sides, "but I'm certainly not your Chosen One, either!" she stated. "Please, just send me home!"

Silence answered her, and she felt a jumble of emotions mount inside her. This silence was anything but soothing. The jewel hanging from her neck shone a soft gold.

"Destiny has decided thou's path, Chosen One. Walk it and thou shall find the answers thou seek."

"No!" she exclaimed. "Listen to me!" she cried, "just let me go home, please!" She didn't know what was being asked of her in this so-called destiny, and she wasn't even sure she wanted to figure it out. She just wanted to go back home.

The strange aura around her finally began to fade, and she panicked as she tried to get her voice across to this powerful creature. It seemed to ignore her pleas entirely. The colors faded from around her, and her vision blurred with tears. "No, wait please!"

"No…- Wait! I said wait!" The words flew from her lips, and, as they did, she sat up. Her chest rose and fell with her rapid breaths, her vision blurry due to the faint presence of tears in her eyes. She paused, a soft squeak coming from her when she no longer saw the muted grey and yellow aura surrounding her. The colors of the living world bore down on her in bright, fluid waves. Her expression was weighed down when she came to the realization that she was no longer in that place, speaking to what possibly might've been the only creature that could've gotten her out of this strange situation.

A few seconds passed before she was suddenly made aware of the two sets of eyes that were now glued to her person. A hue of pink dusted across her cheeks.

"My dear girl, you're awake!"

She jumped and turned her head to catch the eyes of the man to her right. Worried lavender gazed at her, and she unintentionally stiffened up some. In the same breath, her head throbbed harshly, a sharp pain shooting along the side of it. Out of reflex, she lifted a hand and pressed it against the aching area, only to be surprised by the bandages that'd been used.

Oh…! Right, she ended up hitting her head on a rock while in the water! Sheesh, no wonder it hurt so badly! She winced and pulled her hand back, nodding slowly as she looked back at the concerned man. He watched her, almost as if he was worried she might faint again- not that she blamed him any.

"You just came crashing down from the rift in the sky, right into the water," he said, sighing softly. "It's a good thing that all you got is a banged-up head. I fear what might've happened if you landed anywhere else…"

Kagome was silent for a moment as she let that realization sink in. Her clothes were still a bit on the damp side, as well. "I…" She fell from the sky into whatever place this was. Her prior moments in her dream came rushing back, and she fought the urge to heave a sigh of irritation. She looked up, a wave of confusion flowing through her when she spotted the rift he spoke of.

what in the world?

Why was it always her at this point? Can't she just have a break already? Or, at the very least, they could've at least let her have a more gentle entrance to this newest adventure she was destined to go on. She was starting to run out of places that could get scarred up…

As she sat there, she was startled out of her thoughts when something climbed onto her lap, and she jumped a bit. Widened eyes strayed down to land on the creature that'd taken up space on her legs, and she froze all over again.

… What was this thing?

"Oh..! My word, it seems Rowlett has taken an instant liking to you, my dear girl."

"... Rowlet?" she repeated the name quietly, testing the feel of it on her tongue. Before she could say anything else, two more equally strange creatures swarmed up to her side. She was keen to notice the surprised noise that came from the man with the odd purple and white hat.

"Why, they're drawn right to you!" he exclaimed, sounding amazed. As if she'd just done some magnificent feat.

"Oh…" she blinked owlishly in response as she looked from them and back to him. "Should they not be?" she asked after a few seconds of silence on her end. As she asked that, the second figure, who she'd only stolen a couple of glances at up until that point, let out a chuckle.

"You sound so surprised Professor," he said, curling his finger under his chin as he eyed her and the three creatures that were currently fighting one another for the prime spot of her lap. "They did, after all, high-tail it out of the village all of a sudden. Seems they were after her this whole time!"

Kagome put the squabbling to an end with a gentle caress of her hand over each of their heads, and then they'd gotten as close as they all could to her. As she did that, she glanced up from under her messy bangs to eye the other man. His hair was blonde and long enough to be pinned back in a loose bun. A section of his bangs swept across his forehead and covered one of his gray eyes. He watched her with a sheen of bemusement and fascination present on his face. He met her stare head-on, and, instead of looking away, Kagome frowned.

What was with him?

Sitting there, she couldn't shake the sinking feeling that flooded her chest. There was something… strange about the handsome man that watched her boldly.

"Say, what's your name?"

She was startled out of her thoughts when she was suddenly posed with that question. She let her gaze stray back to the man from before- who'd been referred to as Professor for now.

"Oh…" she said, "I'm Kagome."

He nodded in response. "I'm Laventon," he responded a second later. "The fellow with me is-"

"Volo," he cut him off just in time, offering his own name with a smile highlighting his features.

Kagome nodded silently in response.

"Do you remember anything?" Laventon asked, and she looked back to him. "I say, you seem a bit overwhelmed."

Kagome sighed, "that's an understatement." She shook her head and contemplated getting up, only to be held down by the creatures monopolizing her lap. "But, yes," she eventually said, "I remember everything." She gently patted the three creatures, a smile appearing on her face and soothing her tense expression. "No worries, though," she forced a laugh. "I'm no stranger to things like this, actually."

She saw no sense in hiding anything, not when they seemed to have witnessed her falling from the rift residing in the sky above their very heads. So, with a smile on her face, she explained the events that had led her to this point. Once she was finished, she let out a soft sigh.

What a whirlwind it was.

"So, you must not have any place to go in this world," Laventon said, and she nodded. A wry smile appeared on her face, and she shrugged it off.

"Oh well," she said. "I'll survive somehow." There wasn't any other option that she'd accept.

He thought to himself for a moment or two before looking back at her with his eyes alight in an idea.

"Well, I can't very well just leave you here like this," he stated. "Why don't you come back with us?"

She blinked owlishly. "Are you sure that's okay?"

He answered her hesitation with a smile. "There's certainly something special about you," he stated in a matter-of-fact tone, and she craned her head to the side. Before she could ask, he glanced down at the three curled up on her lap. "I've never seen anyone be regarded so favorably by Pokemon that only just met them. Why, it's unprecedented!"

Kagome tilted her head to the side. "You mean these guys?" she asked, motioning to the three.

He nodded. "So, what do you say, my girl?"

After a few minutes of weighing her lacking options, she shrugged. "Might as well," she said. "After all, not like I have better plans."

Auroua-chan: New update for this! I'm super excited for this series. I'm seriously addicted to Pokeom: Legends Arceus at this point lol

Kagome gonna be finding her place in the village soon. Will she be taken into the Survey Corps, or will she fit more into a wandering merchant (with a certain blonde man as a traveling companion)? With Pokemon being drawn to her, she's definitely gonna have an eventful time, either way. Seesh can you imagine an alpha pokemon being drawn to her, and attacking everyone else in sight?

I love all the suggestions I've gotten so far. She definitely needs at least one alpha on her side, but figuring out which one should be in that role is hard. There's so many favorite options for it haha.

I'm really feeling these so far;
Togepi
Lucario
Hisuian Zorua
Hisuian Growlithe
Cyndaquil

And so many others. There are so many good options for her, too.

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
